I needed to find a hotel for 3 days as I moved out of Genova to another city/country and needed to finalize some things in my apartment. I chose the location due to its vicinity to public transport but I also wanted to spend the last days in the nice vicoli of the historical center. The welcome at the reception was very friendly and I got help with my suitcase. The room (superior) was clean and modern, as is the whole hotel, the bed very comfortable and I had a little table so I could also work in between. A kettle and some tea/coffee was supplied. The staff speaks English and helped me whenever needed. As said, the hotel is directly located in the centro storico, 1 minute walk to Piazza de Ferrari from where you can start exploring the city. If I come back to Genova, I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel and staff were amazing. Just an aside, but a mirror in the bedroom would have been nice. The location is also amazing. We took the Volabus direct from the airport, approximately 20 mins and it dropped us in the main Ferrari Square. The hotel is a three minute walk from the stop. We also took the bus on our return. Also, worth noting is that the breakfast is not served in the hotel but a lovely cafe attached to the Opera House. Two mins from the hotel. As it is a cafe/patisserie, continental breakfast only was served. We would have liked more fruit/cooked choice options.

This cosy hotel is in a fantastic location in the city's centre; it is in one of the famous Genova's "caruggi", very near the main square, so every place is easily reachable on foot or by bus. The room was small but looked good; the bed was really comfortable. The price is very reasonable, especially for that area. The breakfast is served in a nearby nice cafeteria.

There was no bidet in my room (they told me there is one in all the other rooms) and no desk, even small. Having breakfast outside was a small inconvenience for me, as I have the habit of having breakfast first thing in the morning and then going back to my room to brush my teeth, etc. The real problem, however, was that the room was really too hot, where the temperature seemed to be adjustable but in practice was not. I hope this problem will be fixed, as I intend to go there again in the future. Luckily, I had a shower cap with me; it would be nice to provide one and some tissues as well.

The location of the hotel was great, it's in the middle of the city centre. We were welcomed by a really nice and helpful lady in the reception who gave us a map over Genova and recommended some areas we should check out. The room was nice, great air condition, big comfortable bed and amazing shower. Lots of soft towels also! Everyone working there seemed very nice and spoke good English. Sold cheap soda and water bottles in the reception. We got a pincode to enter both the main and our own door so it's easy to come and go as we want.

We didn't have any issues really. My boyfriend thought the toilet was installed too high on the wall, but no big deal.

Absolutely fantastic location- a few minutes from Piazza De Ferrari where the airport bus drops you off. Right in the old town so everything is very close by (sites and all the restaurants and bars), but it's on a quiet street so it's peaceful throughout the day and at night. We were only staying a night in Genoa and on a budget so booked a budget double room- it's got everything you need, but it's quite a simple room- small but functional. A place for 2 small suitcases, limited hanging space. Bed and pillows were ok for comfort- very clean. Very good AC for warm summer months. Good sized bathroom and great shower! Nice complimentary toiletries. Sliding door to bathroom is not that private but it worked for us. Everything is done with 1 code- front door and room door, so it's simple to use. Staff were very warm and welcoming. There is a small lift and a non-step front door entrance if needed.

It would have been nice to have more space, but we did book the room intentionally (budget double room), so if you want more space I would book the next size up. For information- the streets around the hotel are quite uneven so difficult for cases- also there's steep stairs from the main street down to the hotel level to be aware of.

Spent one night in this hotel. It is easy to get to from Genoa Piazza Principe or Genoa Brignole train stations via the Metro. Take the Bringole line and get off at the second last stop, De Ferrari. The hotel is a few minutes' walk away. You have to go down some stairs, on a street to the left, but the hotel has a large sign outside. Google maps' directions proved accurate. My room was very nice and it was a good place to stay. I unintentionally set off the shower alarm, and a lady knocked my door to see if I was OK. The hotel is less than 10 minutes' walk from the Genoa Port area where there are plenty of restaurants. On the Sunday I was there, many people were walking in the Port area. On the Monday I left, I headed for the Metro to get to Genoa Bringole train station to get the Volabus to the airport. The Metro was cancelled, but just outside the Metro station, there were bus stops where buses got me to Bringole in about 10 minutes. Again, Googel Maps' directions steered me to the right bus. I stayed 5 nights in Genoa in August 2006 and 2011. In 2006 I went to see the opera house the Teatro la Felice. I had completely forgotten what it was like. It is beside the Metro, the bus stops and opposite the narrow street by which one accesses the hotel. I only realised this when I left on Monday.

Location was right amongst the hustle and bustle of Genova; everything you want to see, taste and drink was minutes away. A multitude of selections. Staff was courteous and helpful.

Walking from carpark to hotel was hot and lifting the heavy suitcases down staircase was difficult but not hotel fault and we appreciated that they helped us with finding parking station. When we checked out, the lady at reception told us an easier way to get back to the carpark without having to use stairs.

The staff was exceptional..so responsive to every question I posed, so helpful, accommodating, pleasant and kind. The hotel is small but comfortable. Newly renovated, clean, and an excellent location. Walking distance to the port area and many other attractions in the center, close to the metro which is very easy to use. Get a 24 hour transit pass for 4.50 euros. The hotel is a tad hard to find initially but once you know where it is, a terrific location. Its down a flight of stairs from April Xxv street but there is a side route as well to avoid the steps. Its very close to piazza dei Ferrari with its beautiful fountain. Plenty of places to eat, close to nuovo stra da. The ac worked well as did the wifi. I would definitely stay here again. Mille Grazie to Michael, Claudia and Anneta.

Early checkout but even that was a non issue as they kept luggage for you after check out and had a bathroom to use

Spent four solo nights at the Hotel Doria and would highly recommend it. Great location on the edge of the medieval quarter of the city but just off the Piazza di Ferrari (Volabus from airport stops here) and 10 minutes walk to the port. Hotel staff are really friendly and made me feel very welcome. Although my room was fine for one, it was a bit dark and would have been cosy for two! However all the important things were spot on: good selection of towels, fabulous shower, very comfortable bed, effective air conditioning, charging points by the bed and spotlessly clean. Overall a great base for a splendid holiday in a beautiful city that exceeded my expectations.

Room was quite dark.

The location was ideal to many tourist sites in the historic center of the city and relatively close to the Brignole train station. The Opera Cafe had a wonderful variety of pastries, etc. for breakfast. The hotel has recently been redone and is modern and clean. The staff was exceptionally helpful in giving us directions and recommendations.

Our taxi driver did not know where Vico Garibaldi was and dropped us off near a shopping mall with a wave toward the opposite direction from our hotel. Vico Garibaldi is within a half block of the Opera house, but Vico means a very narrow lane from the Middle Ages. Look for the "Vico" where there is the English Pub Britannia (looks just like a stereotypical pub) and go to the next Vico and look down it beyond the stairs. You will see the sign for the Hotel Doria. Or ask your taxi driver to take you to the De Ferrari metro stop and start asking the natives for the Vico Garibaldi.
