We stayed here for 10 days, and booked a year ago. We were traveling with friends, and they ended up with a larger room with larger bathroom, for the same price. We didn't push the issue, but for staying that long, it would have been nice to have larger accommodations. The staff are tremendous, once you get to know them, and they bent over backwards to help us with whatever we asked. Very clean. Enjoyed their breakfast (additional charge!!)We really loved staying in Montepulciano!!

The parking lot is a 600 meter walk ALL UPHILL to the hotel. No offer to shuttle us, but this is a very small boutique hotel. Good for keeping the glutes in shape. Our shower head in the postage-stamp size shower was funky and broken, but it still worked... we should have asked them to replace it, actually.

This hotel is in the most stunning location with views out over the towns medieval rooftops, over the valley. The rooms are well proportioned, air conditioned and have very nice bathrooms - ours had a window viewing over the valley as well. The rooms are decorated with antique furniture and oil paintings, suiting the 600+ year old’s character perfectly. Lastly, the hotel is located just a few steps from the main town square - a perfect place to explore the town. This was our second time staying here and we loved it.

The shower (over a bath) in our room Was a little poky and difficult to use.

The hotel is in a perfect location for visiting the town. It has the most beautiful courtyard you can imagine, and the staff were really lovely. The room was very simple and clean, with a lovely view out over the rooftops. The hotel breakfast room has a very funny collection of hedgehog-themed objects, because "Riccio" means hedgehog in Italian. There is also a nice little rooftop patio you can visit. It was just so charming and perfect for our two days in Montepulciano. The hotel provided us with an excellent free parking spot (which was a long walk from the hotel, but so would have been any parking spot--it's not a town for driving). It was so great to be able to leave the car. We really loved it!

I can't think of anything. It was excellent. I would stay there again.

Was such a privilege to be able to spend the night in this beautiful building. Located in the centre of Montepulciano with breathtaking views. My adult children stayed in room 31 with a large terrace and an excellent view across surrounding Tuscany. This room was extremely spacious, sleeping 3. We all loved staying here and would both highly recommend the accommodation and the town of Montepulciano.

I can not fault it the accommodation. If you are driving, the car park is a steep hike back up to the accomodation. You are able to drop off luggage very close by before you park the car.

you are staying in a home that’s been in the family for 4 generations and they make you feel like family. No dinner reservations? they’re on it. Hot toddy for your cold? done. nice hugs when we left. lovely room to relax and rooftop area is a bonus. photo from rooftop shown below

if you want to stay at the top of the world, you first must get there. We drove our car to the plaza outside the hotel and unloaded our luggage, which we then had to carry up three flights of very steep stairs. Then took the car to a parking lot at the bottom of the hill and climbed back up. People who can’t do that need to be aware.

Could not fault the location. Situated near the main piazza. The room has a balcony with priceless views. It was very spacious, and features a single bed on an upper mezzanine level. Bathroom was spacious and its features were to a high standard. Little inclusions like tissues and soap bars were welcomed. Staff were friendly and always welcoming. Breakfast is offered at a reasonable cost, but we chose not to take it. Parking is available in a dedicated zone. Would definitely choose to stay again.

The room was airconditioned, but with the heat, it did struggle. To be fair, it may not have been functioning correctly, and it was noisy and intermittent. Perhaps a ceiling fan would help, due to the very high ceilings. Not a complaint, but was a little uncomfortable that the access/ door to the room, is within the area for breakfast. Maybe a simple fix could be a free standing folding screen, to give the privacy to the room, when opening the door. Again not a complaint, but a warning that parking is on the lower level of town, so best to drop off luggage at accommodation (as they instruct) before taking to steep walk back up. You can wheel luggage down easily when leaving.

The property is located right next to the piazza. From here you can explore the whole of Montepulciano by foot. It’s also central to many restaurants. The staff and owner are super friendly and accommodating. Our room, had a spectacular view and it was a joy to just sit by the window and gasp at the beauty of the Toscana.

The breakfast buffet is typically Italian style with a variety of sweets cakes to choose fro,….I am more of a savory person and very little was catered for on that side……but their are many places in town where you can have a savory breakfast.

Location in Montepulciano was excellent! Very central. Montepulciano is a bit challenging to get to - we took a train to Chiusi and then took a taxi the rest of the way. If you drive by car - parking is a bit of a challenge. Staff at Il Ricci were lovely - very warm and welcoming and helpful with making reservations and suggestions. This history of the hotel is very evident when you walk in the door. Breakfast is served each morning for an extra fee but was worth it for the offerings and the convenience. We will definitely return. I recommend it 100%!

I had no complaints!

We had a view room on the upper floor, and the view was spectacular! Well worth the trip up the stairs. The room was beautifully furnished and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast (10€ per person additional) was tasty, and the staff is very helpful. We speak very little Italian, and some of them spoke only slightly more English, but we managed to communicate!

While the location is gorgeous, if you have a car, it can be very confusing to get to the hotel and then to the reserved parking. Lots of narrow one way lanes and sharp turns. Once we knew our way around, it became easier. Don’t count on Google maps in the town of Montepulciano.

The couple who ran it was 7th generation family owned. It was right down the street from the town square where they had an arts festival going on so we were able to enjoy the music. Also, they had a beautiful little rooftop terrace that we had all to ourselves to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings.

The only thing that I wished was that it had a bigger shower, but everywhere we were in Tuscany, all the showers were small, so it was normal out there. Otherwise everything thing else was great.
