Hotel Antico Doge - a Member of Elizabeth Hotel Group

We had a fantastic time at the Hotel Antico Doge in Venice. The service was excellent. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had to make some last minute changes to my stay and although Booking.com told me they couldn’t make the change, when I spoke to the hotel directly they were extremely accommodating. The daily breakfast was very good including eggs and bacon but also pastry, cheese, meats, cereals, and yogurts – and excellent cappuccino. The location is perfect. It’s a 4 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and a 9 minute walk to Saint Mark’s Square. It’s a 4 minute walk to the nearest Vaporetto and a 3minute walk to the nearest Traghetto. There’s a Gondola for hire right outside the door of the hotel. If I return to Venice I will absolutely stay there again – and I would not use Booking.com ever again!

This issue is with Booking.com, NOT the hotel. I had to make some last minute changes to my stay and Booking.com told me the hotel couldn’t make the change. But when I spoke to the hotel directly they were extremely accommodating. While the hotel was perfectly flexible, when I called Booking.com and told them they got it wrong, they were unfazed and unapologetic. I won't ever use Booking.com again.

We booked this hotel last minute as we had to adjust our flights for our cruise out of Ravenna and so we’re pleasantly surprised to see this fabulous hotel had a room available at a reasonable price. Initial communication prior to arrival was very prompt, courteous and professional. Our room was beautiful - the interior design was beautiful and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We will most definitely stay here again should we visit Venice - thanks so much for a great stay.

An incredible location in a central and busy part of Venice. Easy to reach all sights, less than 10 minutes walk to Fondamente nuove where you can get the ferry to Murano and Burano and the Alilaguna to get to and from the airport. Great breakfast in dining room overlooking canal and busy square.

The bathroom was a little on the small side, but that’s to be expected for the location as central as is it. Electrical outlet didn’t work on one side of the bed.. also. Nothing major that took away from our enjoyment of the hotel. There are a lot of stairs if you are not up to climbing 3 or 4 flights, it may not be for you.. however they did have a stair lift available.

Breakfast is good, typical continental. We were in Venice in July, so we were just happy to have a place with AC!! The staff is nice and helpful. They allow you to store your luggage before check in/ after check out. The rooms are comfortable and good size. The location is great as a central area, however if you have many bags it's 20 min from the train station walking. Not easy in the heat and crowds (going up and down stairs over the canals). Of course you can hire a boat or there are "walking taxi drivers" who carry your luggage in carts and are available right outside the train station. Not sure of the cost of either since we walked.

The hotel is beautiful little gem, and a great location, within a short walk of the major sights, yet wonderfully quiet. There was an excellent breakfast in the morning in a light and airy salon. The staff were warm, welcoming, and eager to help, and spent time giving us recommendations.

Though beautifully decorated, the room and the bathroom were tiny and a little claustrophobic, especially since the only window looked out onto a wall - probably better for one person rather than two, and a small person at that. It was fine if you were out sightseeing all day, not so good if you wanted to spend any time relaxing in the room, and expensive for what you got.

The room was beautifully decorated with Venetian style furniture and the wallpaper was absolutely gorgeous. The lamps were all made from Murano glass. And the rain shower and the view were really nice too! I saw some reviews saying that the rooms were small, but I actually thought I room was quite spacious (for Venetian standards). Additionally, the staff were some of the nicest hotel staff members I've ever met. They made sure we had everything we needed taken care of. Lastly, the location was great. It was only a 3-5 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge, and 9 minutes to Saint Mark's Square. Definitely would recommend this hotel!

The breakfast could have been better. The scrambled eggs were a bit crusty (maybe because they were out a little bit too long?), and the options were very limited. It might be worth not paying for their breakfast but instead go to one of the many great breakfast spots in the city. The lady who worked in the breakfast hall was great though! Also, it can be a bit noisy outside during the night because of the central location. That didn't bother us at all, but I can see how people who are very light sleepers might have some issues with that.

Beautiful little hotel in a great location for walking everywhere. All of the rooms felt special. Hallways were like a maze, but it was interesting. Details were lovely.

No elevators and a very busy corner along the Canal. Water taxi could not pull up in front of hotel and we had to carry luggage up steps and over small bridge. Would have been easy if we were younger!!

Location was excellent, deluxe double room was enormous with 20ft roof and large ensuite. Bed was very comfortable and king size. Breakfast was included in hotel price , continental style.

The air con in the room is like a dryer going all night we turned it off so we could sleep, but that's a personal thing , no bar in the hotel, but they have water etc in a mini bar in the room

I love the decor of the hotel. The staff was great and helpful. Very clean. Communication was very good prior to arrival at the hotel. They were very efficient setting up transportation to the airport. Set up a to go breakfast for my friend that was leaving very early.

There was no telephone or safe in my room which was a bit odd. Also wash clothes are a part of American culture if not going to be placed in rooms. Wash clothes should be available upon request. Not sure how the TV worked.
