Hotel Palazzo Stern

Good location. Really helpful friendly staff. Good continental breakfast. Clean, comfortable fresh towels every day.

Dinner was a bit pricey at 70 euro per person per night. We gave that a miss. Spoilt for choice for restaurants nearby so did not need to have evening meal in the hotel.

In an excellent position and a fine building. The breakfast was very good indeed, and the room very comfortable with a sublime view.

in dark winter, a room needs decent reading lights as well as atmospheric lighting. The fridge and hair dryer had to be reported as not functioning. The reception staff, despite there being comparatively few guests, did not seem to learn our names even after five days.

The breakfast here was the best that I ever had. The warm fresh croissants were my favorite. We were treated so well and the staff was so helpful in giving us recommendation on restaurants, sites and must see places.

We always stay at Palazzo Stern as the location and price are very hard to beat. Staff are very friendly, especially Joey, who has been working there for as long as we have been staying there. Arrival by water taxi is always memorable, but there is also the convenience of the Vaparetto stop at Ca' Rezzonico right next to the hotel. The Dursoduro neighbourhood abounds with great non-touristy restaurants and a great bar in Campo Barnaba.

The breakfast service was no longer serve your self-buffet style, which was disappointing as the staff handling the waiter service struggled to meet the needs of the guests , in spite of their valiant efforts. I assume that this was a post-covid change, but I strongly urge the management to return to Buffet style. Every other one of the ten 4 and 5 star hotels that we stayed at on this trip used a buffet style breakfast. This was a pity as breakfast on the terrace by the Grand Canal is a highlight of a stay at Palazzo Stern.

This hotel is conveniently located right at a water-bus station. It was easily accessible. The neighborhood was not loud and felt more residential and less touristy than the other visits I've made. The staff was very diverse, always helpful, and very attentive. The hotel itself is BEAUTIFUL. I picked this hotel for the convenience of location and other reviews that said the bathrooms were larger than most. I can confirm that the bathroom is also BEAUTIFUL and larger than most hotel bathrooms. When I return to Venice, I hope to be able to stay at this hotel again.

Location was amazing, close to everything yet not flooded with tourists. Room had everything I would have wanted. Cleanliness was the only thing that could use an upgrade. it was fine and not something I would complain about but it could have been cleaner. I have back pain problems so quality of mattress matters to me, but the bed was totally comfortable. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel and wasn't really in my room during the way so I can't comment on that. Would definitely stay there again.

A lovely historical hotel right on the water. Easy access to water taxi. My family's favorite feature was enjoying cocktails while sitting on the hotel's patio that overlooks the canal. So peaceful. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff was super helpful and friendly. Everything was perfect! I would definitely stay here again when I return to Venice.

This hotel really should be a five star hotel. We had an unbelievable stay!!! The location is stunning, with a gorgeous terrace right on the canal! My daughter has some serious food allergies, and they went out of their way to even go to the store to make sure they had things to prepare for her! I would come here again and again!!! The Hotel Palazzo Stern is TOP NOTCH.

Preparing for our stay, the hotel staff's excellent and timely communication led to them arranging for our AMAZING tour guide, Phillipe, for the Basilica and the Doge's Palace. We learned so many insightful details that enriched our understanding of Venice, it was like a semester worth's of learning in three-hours! Amazing to start each day on the outdoor terrace for a lovely and generous breakfast and end each day on the same terrace with a lovely sweet-treat and night-cap while watching the world skim-by. The location is outstanding for walking and/or taking the water bus everywhere, while savoring the building's history.

At first, was disappointed that our room was at the hotel's back, but realized this was a bonus to observe everyday Venetian life and sleep in total quiet.

I feel in two minds about sharing my impressions because I want this Palazzo to be a well kept secret. In the midst of a hectic and quite touristy city, there is this easterly abode (let us remember that Venezia was the European gateway on the Great Silk Road) - central, yet private with impeccable, truly authentic feel to it. Breakfasts and dinners can be had on a hotel terrace facing the Grand Canal, a vaporetto stop is only 5 steps away and you are minutes away from the hustle and bustle (razm&bazm) of the city. You arrive in style on the hotel's boat from the train station, are greeted by attentive and helpful staff and as your eyes rest on centuries old architectural details of the Stern Palazzo you realise - it does not get better than this in Venice.

Everything was absolutely perfect.
