El Môderne Hotel

Breakfast was great. Big fresh buffet with plenty of choice. Bed was enormous, very comfy as well. All is very minimalistic and modern. There is no parking but they get a discount two streets away.

I specifically reserved two single beds, when we got there they said it was a double bed and didnt have any singles. Luckily the bed was huuuge. My mother wasnt happy with the lighting or the fact that there was no bidet, fridge or bath, i didnt mind that.

Great location, central for Gijons’ amenities. Fabulous room (a suite) with large lounge area, cloakroom and bathroom with great walk in shower. Room temperature was comfortable, and curtains ensured a good blackout. Staff were excellent and very helpful and knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble. We had breakfast on one occasion, it was of high quality, although no cooked option.

The WiFi was okay but the speed was limited and made calls difficult. If you were awake in the night there was an element of noise from the bars opposite, but there was good soundproofing and you would only hear the noise if you were awake already .

Small, centrally located hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Public parking one block away with a good rate for hotel guests. Ivan, at the front desk, indicated places to see and restaurant recommendations. Ladies at the bar/room service were very helpful with suggestions from nearby restaurants as the hotel does not have a kitchen. Would definitely return.

No fridge in room but they kept our perishables(cheeses) in their fridge.

The location was perfect, easy access to the beach and to old town... THe room is modern and clean.. the bathroom area is bright. Bed is very comfortable, The lounge downstairs is nice for hanging out

They said it has AirCond..but it doesnt work....only room temprature control so at the end we have to open our window. If you are a lite sleeper this might be inconvinience

we really liked our stay at el Môderne. the body was extremely big and comfortable. plenty of space to open up the luggage and move around the room. we paid less than 100€ so I consider it great value for money. the amenities have peppermint which is so refreshing

for higher prices I would prefer the breakfast included and a bit more assistance from the staff ex. things to do / restaurant recommendations without having to ask them.

The guys at reception made such a friendly and warm welcome to us that it gave the whole stay a really pleasant feeling! Hotel is modern indeed, design, facilities, rooms, equipment, everything. We had 2 very spacious suites, with a sitting room and bedroom each, nice modern design and comfortable, with balcony to the street; beds are comfy, bathroom is well-equipped. Wi-Fi works ok. Breakfast had lots of options, very tasty.

Nothing really; coffee machine in the room would make me happier as well as in ironing table but the latter one per request. Be aware they don't have own parking in the hotel but advise a public one nearby and you can stop for 15 min in front of the hotel to offload or load luggage - so that was not an issue for us.

What a fantastic property - a beautiful hotel, luxurious rooms, gorgeous design... nothing we didn't like. Can't comment on the breakfast, as we didn't have that, but everything else was exceptional. We'll definitely stay here again next time we're in Gijón.

The breakfast was over priced. Receptionist mentioned discount for breakfast but didn’t mention you needed to take breakfast from day one

Would have loved a mini bar in the room. And also a door to seperate the toilet and room more. Especially when the room isn’t bigger. Everything can be heard…

El Moderne Hotel is very conveniently located by the old town of Gijon. There are excellent restaurants nearby. We had a small problem with our room which Marco on reception resolved with the least fuss and the greatest speed. We were most impressed with his help and the friendliness of all the staff. We recommend this hotel very highly.
