Romantik Hotel Muottas Muragl

The hotel was spectacular. The views, the funicular, the staff and the restaurant, you can’t fault it! It’s an experience of a lifetime. This hotel should be on everyone’s bucket list!

The view from the hotel was spectacular. However, we had a room at the back of the hotel looking out to the children’s playground, so not the best view. We will surely want to book a room facing the front next time. We arrived at the train station not knowing how to get to the hotel - it turned out that you need to get a bus to the cable car station. The hotel did send us the address of the cable car station, but they could have also sent information on how to get there! The hotel room key allows you to use buses, train and trams in the area, which is nice. All the staff we came across was helpful and polite. Breakfast was good.

Views from the property were fantastic and beautiful walks. Unique given it is only accessible by funicular and easy to get to St Moritz or Samedan from area if you time the trains. Rooms very clean, staff friendly and food (breakfast/dinner) very good. Would highly recommend staying here.

Need to time the funicular and train/bus well otherwise long waits given 1 train and 1 bus per hour. Alternatively, can rent a car at bottom of funicular as there is parking there and a petrol station for easy commuting. Room we booked was basic so whilst small, this was as expected.

We arrived on my husband's birthday. I booked a table for dinner a few days before I arrived. We were very sad when we got our table. The only table next to the wall was in the restaurant :(. And there were a lot of free tables next to the window next to us, they weren't booked!

I was made to feel like a very welcome old friend. The staff couldn't do enough for me without being obsequious. Restaurant Service was outstanding, food excellent. Then you remember you are at 2,00m+, surreal. The breakfast was superb. I eat minimal sugar or carbohydrates due to diabetes and they had, and brought out, a loaf of sourdough bread so I could finally eat some bread for the first time for a fortnight on my travels. Superb selection of cold meats, cheese AND hot cooked eggs, bacon and sausage. I feasted like a king. The journey up on a very steep cable funicular (too steep even for cogs) should have been the highlight but it was just a commute to an excellent stay. So glad I did this. And the views.........

I couldn't work out how to turn off the bedside lights so ended up unscrewing the bulbs. It was annoying the electrics did not stay on whilst out of the room so I couldn't leave my laptop charging and the TV came on unasked each time I put the card key back in the room to get some light. I couldn't work out how to change the TV to English and I don't watch TV anyway (I was marginally interested to have some English news on the day the PM of 44 days resigned), so this was a bit annoying.

We came five years ago for one night with a late arrival and early departure and have been longing to come back since then. However Covid intervened so this year we stayed for two nights so we could fully appreciate all the hotel has to offer: lovely food, lovely location, the funicular, the terrace, the room, all fabulous

A minor niggle but it would be nice to have a separate inside lounge bar for the evenings

Location is stunning and the funicular ride very special. Breakfast was not available before 0800, not ideal for walkers like ourselves, or indeed those needing to leave earlyish (0745 in our case)

The service in the restuarant was somewwat chaotic, and should have been much more slick. Waiters were slow to bring menus, ask about our drinks, etc. Food was good but not exceptional and in my view overpriced.

The hotel is beautifully located and the staff is so sweet and made us feel special. The breakfast is AMAZING, not just in variety, but also in quality. They have the best croissants on the planet. We booked a small room which was fine for a one-night stay. We went for a short walk and enjoyed a nap outside on the lounge chairs (with cozy blankets provided). The terrasse offers stunning views and dinner was delicious, with large portions.

It’s all about the view and location. The facilities are good, getting there by funicular is definitely different and the restaurant and staff are lovely - but really, it’s all about the view

Or room was very warm with no control over the air conditioning - you can only open/close the window and when it is very windy and/or cold/wet/snow outside that is not practical.

Lovely spot. We lived in the area for a few years and never took the opportunity to spend a night up the hill. Glad we finally did! Lovely short tram ride up the mountain offers spectacular views of the valleys around (as do the various terraces up top). Having a drink outside looking at the views very relaxing.

Not much really - room clean and cozy if a little compact but very comfortable.
