Ambrose Hotel

We had been in Keswick and then travelled to the South Lakes Zoo. Afterwards, we decided that instead of driving back to scotland we would stay another night away. Being in Barrow-in-Furness, we chose the Ambrose. Very good location to the shops and food. There was a communal fridge in the hall, which meant we could buy and keep our drinks cold, definitely a wee bonus for the warm nights into mornings! The room was clean and comfortable, very good value.

Only stayed one night, so everything was as expected

Only issue we had was that the lights didn't give off much light in the bedroom and the bathroom light would constantly flicker.

Check in was easy. The room was clean and looked like it had been recently decorated. The shower worked great with no messing about. The tv worked fine with no issues. There was spare tea, coffee, milk and toilet rolls outside, plus plates, cutlery and a microwave. There was an iron in the room as well.

There was some noise but with a pub downstairs, this is only to be expected. I went out for a few beers myself, so it wasn't too much of a problem. It all seemed to calm down about midnight. Another pillow would've been nice.

Location was excellent, staff were very helpful & accommodating, great for a weekend stay free parking in pubs car park, only ten minute walk to most of towns venues, if your on a budget its a reasonable price & stay.

Not sure if it would be good for disabled people but wouldn't want to put people down it would be worth a phone call to see if they could accommodate. There was a bit of pub music noise but didn't put me off.

The Ambrose Hotel was in a good location and had everything that we wanted. We liked the fact that on every floor they had a table with coffees, teas and toilet rolls available due to staff not entering our room due to Covid. So many places these days skimp on things like that and you almost need to beg for them. Liked the fact that we above a pub but this caused us no issues. Surprised at the negative reviews as this place we thought was good value for money.

Light above mirror in bathroom didn’t work. No lift.

Room was very clean and spacious, with ample beds for a family room. Staff were very helpful and welcoming.

The only gripe I have about the hotel is that I would have liked more pillows in the room. I suffer from a back problem and find it more comfortable to lie more propped up but other than that the room was perfect.

Location was perfect for what we needed. Room was huge and freshly decorated. Carpet still had that brand new smell! We were so comfy in the room we didn't end up going out in the end and just chilled out!

No faults with the hotel, we were just unlucky with some inconsiderate guests who clearly came in from a drunken night out and were stomping up and down stairs and slamming doors at all hours. Should have set the dogs on them :D

Perfect, friendly staff, clean and exactly what i was expecting.

The only negative i can say, is that although there was a TV remote, the set top seemed to need its own remote to change the channel and i this was nowhere to be found. I could manually change the channel though.

Above a pub on main road - very central location and no noise in bedroom. V friendly staff. Room had been refurbished and was really lovely. The bathroom was purposeful but not quite as nice as the bedroom. Excellent price, would definitely stay again if in the area!

The bed coveds were very good and heated very well under them, despite the cold in the room

The room was not heated, we turned on the heat, but the room remained kind of cold. The heat was turned off totally during the night.
