The Clarendon Hotel

We booked the Clarendon because of its position in Deal. The manager Orla is exceptional. She could not do enough to make sure our stay was perfect. She is an absolute credit to the hotel. The rooms are very clean and extremely comfortable.

It is a shame there is no designated parking as we had to be on the ball with moving the car to ensure we didn’t get a parking ticket. Breakfast is not served in the hotel, however this is not a problem as there are plenty of restaurants nearby and you have a fridge, with complimentary tea, coffee milk and water in the room. Other than these minute details everything was perfect.

Great Central location and our suite was much larger than I was expecting.

Location is excellent, although it doesn't have a car park it backs onto Market Street car park so just a very short walk. Very large bed, and very good air conditioning.

Would have like an in-house bar or restaurant. But it is next door to a Pub so this makes up for that. Room we had an On-suite bathroom, but this was down 3 steps and reduce headroom going through doorway which did catch me about a few times. We new we didn't have a sea view but had no view at all as the window was frosted over so you could see anything and only opened about 50 mm at the top.

The location was fantastic right on the seafront and within walking distance of the castle, restaurants and a very good cafe for getting breakfast. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed, very comfortable bed and allowed us to get a good nights sleep after a busy day coming back from France.

The only minor issue we had was that we struggled to find somewhere to eat the night we arrived, a couple of the local pubs had either closed their kitchen or were full. However this is no fault of the hotel.

Clean room with fantastic views of the seafront. The Bed was comfortable, and the shower was spot on! Great to have tea and coffee provided in room, with real milk available. Also a nice touch providing both cereal and cereal bars as the in room breakfast option Plenty of local parking nearby, and centrally located for the bars and restaurants in town. Host who meet us on check-in was welcoming and made sure that we had all we needed. A huge plus of the seafront rooms is being able to open the windows and hear the sounds of the waves

Fridge in room was fairly noisy, so ended up being switched off for a while Also, not told in advance about onsite bar being closed for renovations. Would have been nice to get a heads up before booking as is a huge plus to have available

Great location,especially as it’s situated right on the beach front. The room and bathroom are very spacious,with the choice of a shower or a bath very handy. The rooms were cleaned every morning and the cereal breakfast/milk left for us is a nice touch as we didn’t have to venture out each morning for breakfast,definitely liked having a fridge in the room. The choice of using air conditioning is very useful, especially staying here in the summer. Has a nice friendly bar which is good if you just want to have a relaxed evening in.

Hard to fault it but the lay out of the building is slightly tricky with the winding narrow stairs, doesn’t help getting to your room especially if your room is on a higher level. unfortunately our bed wasn’t very comfortable,as the springs were coming through even with having a mattress topper on,although we’ve stayed before and the mattress was perfect.

Liked the mini fridge with ice box. Love the sea view. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The coffee machine is a great addition but could have had cappuccino pods instead of espresso. Mattress is super comfy. Shower stool on request and a toilet chair in the bathroom cupboard. Like the decor.

Wooden bed frame is very hard on the legs when sitting up. Noise coming from staff at night coming in and out of the staff only area right by Bernardette door. The bell at front door is too high for wheelchair users to reach but the manager came out to us and as stated above was very accommodating. The main door and Bernardette door are very heavy for a wheelchair user.

Lovely room with an uninterrupted ses view. The excellent air con was a real bonus. Good shower and facilities in the bathroom and the provision of complimentary cereals, fresh milk and mineral water in a small fridge was much appreciated.

The property is quite old and there are some steel stairs to negotiate (I was warned) but they could be a problem for some people. Parking in Deal can awkward (24 hours @£9.99!) but if you drive a little way out along the beach, or beyond the Saracens head in College street, you will find free parking, It may be a 10-15 minute walk but if you don't need your car then worth it

Used to go right through Deal from Whitsable to Walmer and back again. Didn't realize how much there is to do. Best day out was the 2 mile walk along the sea front from Deal castle to Walmer castle where you can see Wellingtons boots and the room he died in.

The only thing that we were not used to was a bedroom without a window we could open air-conditioning was provided but next time we will get a room with a sea view.

We stayed at the Goodwin Suite. It was immaculate, clean and spacious. The views looking on to the sea were amazing. I couldn't fault the room at all. The room had a lot of character. Items displayed in the room such as the typewriter, binoculars just make the room feel special. An excellent, enjoyable stay.

No private parking. You will need to pay for local parking. My main concern was the wind/sun protector panels of the room located directly behind the windows/doors. They should have been tinted. As it's a beachfront room people can easily look in to your room and see you which takes away your privacy.
