Chain Runner, Livingston by Marston's Inns

Exceptionally friendly staff who accommodated all our needs and requests. Excellent facilities in the wheelchair accessible wet room. Lots of conveniently located grab rails and a shower seat. Plenty of turning space. Plenty of room in the bedroom for the wheelchair. Comfortable beds.

These are only observations to assist other wheelchair users. While the wheelchair facilities were better than most, a lone wheelchair user would struggle because: There were no grab rails adjacent to the bed. Fortunately I had brought our own stand aid otherwise we wouldn’t have managed. Wet room door difficult to close once inside unless you have assistance. Perhaps consider a sliding door? Nowhere in the wet room to put toiletries etc apart from the floor. I understand the need for hotel doors to be up to fire code but they are then too heavy and/or unwieldy for a lone wheelchair user to manage on their own.

Clean and comfortable room. Good central location, close to pub for dining and shopping centre. Nice breakfast on first morning, good choice, piping hot and tasty.

We had been told check in from 2.00p.m., but arriving at the room at 3.40p.m. it still wasn't ready and when we did enter the room, the curtains were hanging off the rail. My Wife asked the staff to replace the hooks, but they were unsure if they had any, so she went back to reception and the General Manager arranged for us to swop rooms. He was very approachable, upbeat and accommodating. The breakfast on the second morning (which was a Saturday) was buffet style. Not great, don't enjoy food which has been sitting.

Room was spacious, had everything you needed , check in was easy and location is amazing. Breakfast was amazing We ate at the restaurant for dinner as well, food was very good, service was a bit slow, staff seemed to be spread a bit thin, but all staff were very helpful and smiling.

Our room felt quite cold even though the heating was on 26oC however I mentioned it when we were down having dinner and they fixed it from their side straight away and brought us up a heater incase we needed it during the night. The only thing about the room I disliked was that the fan in the bathroom is very loud. Even when the room closed, you can still hear it, but it wouldn't put me off staying again, though.

The location was a little difficult to find in the dark, even using sat nav and it was our first time in Livingston. The rooms were, quiet, spotless, a good size and extremely comfortable beds. Early breakfasts were tasty with good choices, served by pleasant staff. We visited for 2 nights to watch World Bowls Tour event at West Lothian bowling club nearby and were surprised that this inn was not full of bowlers. A need there to advertise for next year? We did our best to recommend while we were there!!

Evening meal carvery roast beef was a little tough and veg a little dried up but breakfast was fresh and well cooked and plentiful.

Standard family room in a good location. The staff are helpful and attentive, yet you're left alone to enjoy your time. The accommodation is separate from the checking in location but is easy to navigate. Both kids enjoy using the card to access the building (the novelty doesn't seem to wear off). As the meals are provided in the separate building, there are more choices and longer serving times (great for a teenage boy who struggles to get out of bed before 10am).

It would be nice to have an option of three single beds (I.e. the double splits). My kids always fight over who gets the double. No big issue, but can affect single parent families. They can still fit three beds in one family room with plenty of space.

i have never stayed in Livingston before and needed somewhere near to a function I was attending. Chain Runner was perfectly located with lots of facilities nearby. The beds were comfortable and the temperature control in the room allowed us to warm the room a little once we got home but then cool the room back down when required. We had breakfast the next morning and staff were lovely and accommodating, the food was great too, photos attached.

Although the bedroom and bathroom appeared generally clean, upon going to turn the TV on, I was shocked at how dirty the remote control was. i tried to clean it as best I could with a towel, but this had not been cleaned/sanitised in a long time (photo attached). Also, we opened one of the complimentary packets of custard cream biscuits, and had one biscuit each. It did taste a bit soft, so I looked at the packet and these were months out of date, and there was another packet there out of date as well.

Room was first class, clean and comfy, and on ground floor (as requested). Car park was free and plenty spaces. Breakfast was very good. It was close to the shopping area where we wanted to visit.

The staff were great with the exception of one Manager, who was rude and arrogant, mainly with the staff, but he caused a bad atmosphere around the restaurant/bar area, which we couldn't understand as all staff were very busy, polite and helpful.

the property was very comfortable and we had a very pleasant stay.

Felt it was understaffed, had to wait at reception for our room while people in the restaurant were getting served. then waited to be seated at night while staff were checking in other guests. we were in rom 105 and the tv only worked on BBC channels. this is not a mark against the staff who we’re superb, just not enough of them. both meals we had were very good but again we had to ask staff if they could clear our table.

The hotel isn't terribly expensive and is there for perfect for business and pleasure. Breakfast and dinner where better than expected for this type of hotel and service was fast and prices were good. Essentially, the property has its own pub/restaurant attached make a stay most convenient. I'd rate the rooms as slightly better than Holliday Inn and good for the price. I will use them again.

Ease of use key issued come and go as please. Breakfast next door was affordable and good value for money Room was nice could have done with a few more pillows. Great location for trips into Edinburgh / Glasgow close to large retail park which has lots of buses come and go if guests are using public transport

Had to ask for an iron phoned number didn't work no one picked up had to ask a cleaner on a different floor as we were leaving. Coffee was pants with the breakfast!
