San Luis Bay Inn

Loved the location - glad we had a view (think I wouldn't have liked it without that). The room was great - full kitchen and two bathrooms. Beautifully appointed. Bed was a bit soft - but it was all very comfy. Staff were so super friendly always! The workout facility is nice and the pool and hot tubs were well-maintained (and open on a very cold February visit!)

Check out at ANY hotel that is at 10 am is ridiculous. They wouldn't extend it - so it really feels like you get 1 day and 1 night - not two when you can take your time to get up and go on. The restaurant was closed and there were not good options for food on their property (only vending - no small store).

For starters, the location of the SLB Inn is overwhelming, and where it sits atop that hillside perch, provides amazing views. It is as scenic as can be, and it overlooks the Avila Beach village, the beach, coastline, the Pacific… we only stayed 2 nights, and we all would have loved to stay for more. Next, the service was as prompt, courteous, expedient, and pleasant as could be. Other favorable points to mention: plenty of parking, easy to venture into town and elsewhere, clean & modern rooms, amazing views from the seaside rooms, and plenty of ‘campus’ to walk around and relax.

The location was great!! Our room had a balcony with an ocean view. The price was very reasonable. The grounds were kept very clean. Within walking distance to Avila beach and shops and restaurants. The room was spacious and the bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. The staff was so friendly and had some helpful tips. Plenty of seating options throughout the resort. The fitness room was very good. Nice pool and hot tub. Free parking

The rooms are pretty outdated. The paint on the patio was chipping and the screen door was broken. When people close their doors or talk in the hallway, you can hear them through the walls/door.

The hotel has beautiful grounds, with a nice pool and kiddy pool, and lots of spots to sit and eat outside, including several with fantastic views of Avila Beach, and two fire pits. Great for families and adult travelers alike. It was great having a kitchen to balance dining out with eating in. Staff were friendly and helpful. You get great value and location.

We sadly had an interior room that looked onto a small ivy covered corridor, which meant we had no real external views. This is really unusual, as almost all rooms on this property have views of the ocean, the mountains, etc.

The accommodations were fantastic for my family situation; traveling with 4 generations- 85 year old father, daughter and granddaughter, my husband and myself, we were able to all stay comfortably in the rooms and spend time together on the property.

The distance to rooms, all the stairs were slightly difficult for my father, next time I will request a handicap accessible room. This was my mistake because it was the first trip to the property

Nice and roomy , pleanty to do on site luv the kitchen and all it had to offer walking distance from the main area beautiful views took many great pictures

The bathroom in room 425 kind of freak me out the heat light vent wads open to the ceiling light from above shows through and when I looked in it I can see the rafters or wood I had my husband look in it before I did anything in there, he said it was ok I was still uneasy every time I went in there

I loved how close to the beach it was and the beautiful views from our room! The resort itself was very nice

The room we stayed at could of used some 'updating' since it looked very 1990's. With as much as you spend per night, you would kind of expect it to be a bit more posh and modern! And climbing in and out of that very high and large tub to shower was no joke! Good thing my parents or other elderly weren't staying in that room!

I liked the closeness to San Luis Obispo, Avila, and Pismo. I liked the game room. I liked the nearby bar and grill with the hotel discount.

Coffee in lobby just so so, it would be great if there were more coffee options (like a nepresso machine). Elevator was also slow, water pressure was weak

I love the location. Close to everything. Love the fact that it has a kitchenette.

I would like to have a view once in a while. The fact that I was there last Oct, again in June, paying for daughter and family to come July 5th-9th and then paying for son and family to go there end of July, then I have reservation for myself again in Oct. Five times in a year’s time I wish would warrant a view once in a while. I understand views are for timeshares but it would be nice for myself to get a view as paying for myself and family quite a few times a year.

Didn't have food. Reception staff very friendly. Apartment spacious. Pool area lush. Nice quiet area easy to find. Good location a short walk from the beach etc. Great that loads of facilities (such as pickleball in our case) were available without any extra cost. Travelled from England to Avila for third time but first time here. If I came here again would happily stay here.
