The Restoration Hotel

We had an excellent stay at the Restoration. It is a super cute boutique hotel with a rooftop restaurant, coffee shop, and small pool area. The room we selected was more like an apartment and it was absolutely stunning. The location was the best part, being able to walk everywhere we wanted to go on King Street and beyond. The hotel also offers rides with their onsite Jeep Wrangler to bring you anywhere in downtown Charleston, which was a nice bonus. Lastly, the thing I most looked forward to each morning was the morning breakfast basket that was left outside our door each morning with a bunch of breakfast treats! The service was also outstanding! :)

The only negative about our stay is that we could hear the people above us walking/running around quite loudly, which made going to sleep a bit challenging. I think there might have been kids staying above us because it sounded like someone was running nonstop. We didn't mention this to the staff, just kind of toughed it out.

The location was great. The quality of the rooms and all of the finishes everywhere were top notch. The attention to detail was impressive. For example, the full size mirrors were in the shape of a nearby church window with the frames painted in indigo. Of course, indigo was the primary cash crop that created Charlotte's wealth. Lots of little details everywhere. The room we stayed in was comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful, towels soft and thick. Fridge was well stocked with sodas and juice (included in the price).

I didn't like the fact that there wasn't a proper lobby. There was a walkway between the lobby where you checked in (which had no seating) and the library. The walkway took you to the lifts to the rooms as well as a rooftop restaurant. The restaurant was popular and the lifts often busy with dinner or lunch guests. The library on the other side was beautiful with a gorgeous fireplace but felt detached and the seating was limited. For example, when getting a coffee from the coffee-shop attached to the hotel in the morning, there was no seating available. Breakfast was delivered in the basket each morning and left outside the door. It is a cute idea but there wasn't much in the basket that we would eat and we had to make our own coffee.

A picnic basket of breakfast food was delivered each day we stayed (different on each day and included fresh fruit). The front desk was very friendly and walked us to our room (as there are rooms across different buildings) on arrival. They addressed the problems we raised (slow draining shower, bedside table charging stations inoperable) quickly. The "included" free cold drinks were a nice touch. (more than we consumed). Social hour where we could mingle and grab a glass of wine and partake of a cheese/charcuterie board. Cafe integrated into hotel (easy access).

we loved all the special touches! the stocked fridge with all kinds of drinks, pimento cheese and crackers and fresh water as well as sparkling. the breakfast basket every morning with yummy food delivered in the cutest picnic basket. My friends made coffee in the room and said the coffee was delish as well. we also loved the cocktail hour every night by the cozy fire in their beautiful sitting room. The rooftop was fun as well with beautiful views

nothing at all. we all loved this hotel and would stay here again. I do not have anything negative to say about this hotel in any capacity. only positive things.

The room was perfect. There was souch to do inside. It is perfectly located. The free courtesy ride we were not expecting but came in handy.

We had to leave. There is no overhead to the private patio and it rained the day before leaving all the seats soaked we could not make use of this and this is what we wanted.

The location and the nice smell in the entry which I think was due to the gift shop boutique. It was a nice touch to offer breakfast picnic baskets. The wine tasting was thoughtful but the wines could have been more varied and better.

Our room was very dusty. The fan blades were nasty and the blue wall behind the bed was dusty also. Though the breakfast basket was a nice touch it was items we normally don’t eat and we felt so bad that we were being wasteful. The apples and the muffins the first morning were the only thing we enjoyed.

location and the staff was simply fabulous. the continental breakfast was ridiculously good.

although my room was great, I was in a lower floor and the connecting room door was insufficient, I could clearly hear the people in the adjoining room.

I love the fact that this property is so close to the college of Charleston. We have stayed there every time we have moved our daughter back in to Charleston for her fall semester except for the year 2019 due to Covid. Love the fact also that it is so close to King Street in amazing restaurants and shops. And they have one of the best restaurants upstairs the view is amazing.As are there drinks and hamburger and fries.

There is nothing I do not like about this property. I absolutely love it.

Loved the breakfast in a basket in the morning. The location was great - very walkable to shopping and food.

The hotel billed my credit card even though I paid fully before arrival through booking.com. I had to talk to them twice.

I loved the size of our accommodation and the thoughtful details. Picnic basket continental breakfast every day, water, seltzer and coffee replenished too. The washer and dryer came in handy, and the rooms were spacious and quiet.

Not much! The location was a good walk from the touristy stuff, but otherwise wonderful.
