4 Things to Do in Tijuana, Mexico
Updated August 2, 2023Tijuana, Mexico is the most-visited border city in the World and one of the safer cities in Mexico. Though Tijuana is a very popular destination for youth visitors from Southern California, there are plenty of fun things to do there besides getting inebriated or stocking up on cheap pharmacy drugs (the Big Red Pharmacy is a popular pharmacy in Tijuana). Tijuana offers many attractions and things to do. Below is a list of the popular activities.
#1 Shopping - Avenida Revolución
Tijuana’s main tourist attraction is shopping. Tijuana offers cheap, abundant items from liquor to knock off leather good to imports and more. Avendia Revolucion is the epitome of Tijuana Shopping; it’s an 8 block-wide selection with the best shopping selection that Tijuana has to offer. Other popular shopping destinations in Tijuana include Plaza Zapato and Plaza Rio.
# 2 Nightlife – Zona Rio
Though the local nightlife is a major draw for United States college students, it still offers older adults a great nightlife outlet. Zona Rio and Plaza Fiesta offer visitors a on- stop area that features clubs such as Plaza Fiesta, Sotano Suizo, Monte Pichacho, Senor Frogs, Coliseo, and Las Playas.
#3 Museums- Amigos del Artes
Amigos del Artes in Tijuana is both a history and art museum open to the general public. Aside from the small front room with all the photographs of Tijuana in its older incarnations, there are galleries upstairs (oddly enough, segregated into men and women’s sections, since having the two on the same wall would be considered offensive), a classroom where they teach English, and art classes to anyone who wishes to attend. Learning about Mexico and Tijuana’s culture is a great way to spend the afternoon.
#4 Sports – Bullfighting and Races
Tijuana’s bullfighting is a must see if you’re planning a trip to Tijuana. Every Sunday in El Toreo de Tijuana, on Avenida Revolucion, you’ll witness authentic bullfights. Watching Greyhound Races may also strike your fancy. Hipodromo Caliente, on boulevard Agua Caliente, offers many races daily.
