Contour Hotel Katherine

I was very happy with my stay at this hotel. I had a family room which was very spacious and had a full kitchen, and laundry facilities in the bathroom, which had clearly been renovated recently. The pool looked nice, but it was a bit of a cool wind on the afternoon i arrived so i didn't go in. The restaurant was awesome, nice outdoor seating, good service and really good food. The hotel staff were really nice and helpful, there's a tour desk area full of brochures about various activities in the area which the lady at reception was happy to chat to me about.

I gave a slightly lower score for cleanliness because the carpet in my room felt quite dirty under-foot. i wore socks most of the time i was in the room, and they ended up pretty dirty which confirmed it for me. the hotel is a bit out of the main part of town, so apart from the restaurant on site, there wasn't anywhere else to go for dinner, without driving, but that wasn't a big deal because the restaurant was so good.

We were mildly concerned about personal safety in the centre of Katherine, but Contour is a little out of town and is a large area with a very secure fence around it. The grounds are expansive and kept to the standard of a bowling green, so it is a very pleasant site. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the room was clean and offered everything advertised. The bed linen and towels were clean and fresh and the self-catering family room we stayed in met our needs. (Possibly an area to dry washed clothes in the sun, rather than in the drier would have been nice, but that was not a real problem.) There were a number of corporate customers staying at the complex - which is often a sign that the accommodation is likely to be one of the best on offer in a place.

Although everything worked, the decor and appliances are now a little dated and could perhaps be refreshed. We felt safe because of the location but the door locks would not have presented much of a problem to a person determined to enter.

Great Aussie experience with beautifully maintained grounds. Great dinner options, also for vegetarians. Good location as it gives easy access to Nitmiluk Park and Katherine Gorge, Mataranka and Edith Falls.

The only aspect of our stay here that we found to be far below our expectations was the breakfast. It offered a repetitive and meager choice of food. No fresh jams or local bush tucker. Every day the same tired oll’ English breakfast with watery, tasteless scrambled eggs. Completely loveless. And coffees: they were great but not included!

staff are always extremely friendly and helpful rooms are always clean beds are very comfortable site is great for secure parking, can feel safe that cars wont be touched if staff notice someone on the premises that should not be there they are quickly escorted from the premises

bit disappointed that the deluxe rooms do not have a power point beside the bed as I normally charge my phone at night and use it as my alarm, but I was told when I checked out that there are extension cords in reception so will grab one of those next time

clean and spacious rooms, housekeeping guys keeps it fresh everyday which is great.

Shower curtain could have been replaced with glass partitions, the curtains makes the bath area cramped and it sticks to our body while taking a bath. Rugs or bath mat can be added both outside and inside especially a bath mat to keep the dry area dry. TV unit is too old, a basic 43" smart TV could have been better, so that we can at least cast our favourite shows.

From the moment I drove in, frangipani in full bloom and scent, to check in, to fan and aircon on in my gorgeous room, I felt welcomed and happy. The room is well appointed, and the bed is sooo comfortable. The restaurant food and service was wonderful..! I can highly recommend this ‘stunning oasis’ highly. I stayed in a deluxe room with gorgeous sliding doors opening to a lovely back garden area. I stayed an extra night I loved it so much. They even arranged a gorge tour for me. Exceptional.

The room was very clean, beds comfortable and the shower was hot and wonderful after a day of traveling. My son was sick and the cleaning staff were so understanding and helpful. They were understaffed but still did an amazing job looking after us.

The standard rooms didn't have any cutlery at all, just a kettle and cups, It would have been good to have some basics and a small microwave. I found the restaurant was a bit expensive but it was great having breakfast included.

The restaurant/bar area and the pool area was very inviting during the day and it transformed into a cosy dinner area at night. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were clean. The staff were welcoming and very accommodation. The buffet breakfast was good and had a variety that caters to all different dietary requirements. We had dinner in town but it wasn’t that great so we went back to the hotel’s restaurant for dessert and a few drinks which made our night. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is planning a trip to Katherine, it’s in an ideal location, not right in the centre but close enough (about 5 mins drive or a little less).

This observation and constructive observation/crticism for my second visit. Cleaning needs improvement. Noted urine stains around toilet seat unsightly and unhygienic. Also noted black mold/dirt along sink that could be easily scraped off...unhygienic, unsightly and bacteria harbouring areas. I have pics if interested for quality improvement.

Rooms have all the usual amenities e.g. air con, TV, fridge etc. Staff are excellent especially reception and the waiters/waitresses. Great facilities including a pool, a laundry and a fantastic on site restaurant. We stayed here twice whilst walking the Jatbula Trail ( before and after ) and the hotel was perfect with a 6.00 am breakfast to get to the start of the walk on time, a laundry to wash our clothes when we finished and an excellent restaurant with good food and a nice setting so we could relax. The reception staff looked after our spare bags whilst we were walking and even helped us get a lift out to the National Park.

The hotel is about 3 kms from Katherine. As we didn't have a car it was a long walk or taxi ride to get to or from the hotel. Not really a problem as we were there for walking anyway and it was much nicer eating at the on site restaurant rather than going into Katherine for dinner.
