Lovely, friendly staff at the front desk. In fact all the staff I encountered during my stay were friendly and welcoming. I had pretty much a whole dorm room to myself during my short stay. Room was very clean, warm blanket available which was great as it has been a bit colder in the evenings. Didn’t make use of kitchen but facilities looked good. Lounge/outside area nice. Lockers and storage room available. Also the option to store valuables with staff. Great location, short walk to the beach and nice little cafes and shops. Perfect for greyhound coach stop too as literally across road. Thank you!

I booked a bed in a 8-bed dormitory, with AC. The dormitory is wide and large enough, so you do not feel packed at all. The bed is a bunk bed, large enough, with a fair enough good mattress. For this dorm, you have access to an ensuite bathroom (shower, toilet, sink). All were clean. You also have access to a fully equipped kitchen, without oven. The common space is nice. Free pool table. In house bar, hence no BYO, open until 10pm. The WiFi is good, quicker close to the reception area. 100m away from Greyhound / Premier Motor Service bus stop. 500m away from IGA supermarket. 500m away from main beach. Stayed in private room, clean linen and towels, nice for one night before your next bus, the hostel is right across the road from the greyhound bus stop

A bit dirty, there was a sticky stain from coffee on a shelf and in shelf units all layers under the top one were covered in something like sand Shower doesn’t have a little bath under it, just the drain in the floor, so after shower all floor in the bathroom is wet There was no hot water

Perfect for stays before/after K’Gari. Nice pool area and shared spaces for socialising. Rooms were very spacious despite sharing with 7 others! Reception were great regarding late checkin.

Mattress was a little uncomfortable but not bad. Kitchen got cramped at peak times. Parts of the hostel were under construction so was a little untidy but can’t be helped. Walls are a bit thin.

We stayed in freedom hostel for 1 night because we couldn't stay at pippies for the nights we wanted, however we wish that we stayed here for all 3 nights! The rooms were a good size and had an ensuit bathroom in which everything worked well. The TV in the room had Netflix which was a nice touch. There was free pool, a well priced bar with happy hour, an organised reception and large luggage storage room. There is a nice outdoor area by the pool which is ideal to relax and socialise. We ended up coming back to this hostel to chill when we were staying at pippies because the vibe was much nicer. There is also a second pool and a second kitchen at the back which is perfect for some quiet relaxation.

The mens toilets in the bar area smelt quite badly every time I went in there. The main kitchen area was quite small however we never used it so it didn't really affect us. There was a bin by the stairs up to our room which had a very strong smell every time we walked past it.

Location is amazing. There are nice common areas.

The kitchen needs some signage about processes to keep clean and smell free. Maybe diagrams to help with language barriers. Also some little lighting the trees between buildings would make way finding at night easier :)

Lovely chilled hostel. The Happy Hour is great to have here. Greyhound bus stop is literally right opposite this hostel which is very convenient.

My room was up a staircase which wasn’t too bad for me with my belongings, however some other travellers may have heavy suitcases and this may not be ideal for them. There are ground floor rooms though. Not sure if there is a lift here but I don’t think there was… Not about the property but the area: it’s a very quiet area with not much to do in comparison to other places I have visited along the East Coast. This didn’t affect my stay though as I knew it would be a quieter area than others but I didn’t expect it to be as small and quiet as it actually was.

The family room was just enough space for a family of 4. The beds were super comfy, the air con was amazing especially for the hot days over xmas. My teenagers really loved the pool. The general pool area was nice to hang out as a family to eat and swim after a day at the beach.

The cleanliness of the communal kitchen closest to the pool was quite gross. This needs to be managed a little better. There was rubbish and food left out for days. The young backpackers obviously do not clean up after themselves. On Christmas day a group of people were very rude to another family staying asking them to cut short their use of a table close to the bbq that the family had first to enjoy their xmas lunch together. The group were quite entitled simply because they “had a group of 40 people” and “needed the space”. The should have got there to reserve the area earlier or went to the beach. This we enjoyed out time there, this stay made us realise that as a family we will not be doing budget stays with shared facilities in the future.

Location is convenient - the bus-stop right across from it is the drop off and pick-up location for coaches and tours. We also appreciated the layout of the rooms - even though we were next to a communal kitchen, enough was done to keep the area quiet at night. Room was ensuite and we had our own fridge, TV, cutlery and crockery for our use so we did not really need to use the communal kitchen.

There was a lot of people - but honestly, as a hostel it means they are doing a good job attracting the crowd. And everyone was very nice and polite and quiet.
