We stayed in an underground room, which you enter at ground level. Great breakfast and coffee! Staff were lovely, and we enjoyed our stay! There was also an underground museum about mining and the area which was great too.

It was perhaps a bit tired, some of the sheets were a bit worn and a little bit of mould in the bathroom, but it was clean. Some reviews said that it needed a vacuum, but like it’s the in the middle of the dusty dessert, and the room is literally carved out of rock, so I think these things are pretty reasonable considering!

Room was a great size, very spacious, as was the bathroom. Bed was comfortable, it was a nice, quiet and relaxing nights stay. Great motel, clean and comfortable and a very convenient location, walking distance to iga.

The small freezer section in the old fridge was almost completely full of ice, couldn't fit our ice packs in that we needed for travelling the next day. I chose & booked a room based on the information & photographs on booking.com, it showed and stated a room with a balcony and outdoor furniture but that wasn't the room we were given, there was no outdoor furniture or area to sit outside.

Very central location to shopping, food and tours. Underground units are a great experience - to sense the temperature and blackness of living like this. There is a good tour underground with some history and information about opals and the surrounding area which is good for a wander through. Local cats give it a lovey home feeling. Nice pool and laundry facilities.

The cafe and facilities were under construction. It would have been good to know this beforehand.

It is thoroughly cleaned, in a great location and good value for money. There is plenty of parking.

We made the choice to stay in an above ground room during pretty serious heat. We have previously stayed here and would now go the underground room every time.

We had a wonderful stay and experience at the desert cave hotel. it was very great to sleep in an underground room. the room was clean and unique. we liked the bar and it’s easy to get around cause everything is near by. would definitely recommend to stay here :)

the pool area was not really used and many flies but I guess it’s because people just drive trough to see Coober pedy and not to relax at the pool

Enjoyed all except the first encounter with bar man on our first evening. Wasn’t there when we first got to bar and then was abrupt when we asked about wine special as per our check in information he denied it at the start. Must of realised he was wrong and rude as then changed his tune. All other staff were brillant

Room needed a good vacuum around and behind the furniture

underground experience was excellent and room had ample space. Room had ample air circulation and the underground tour section of displays was great.

amenities in the bathrooms are very dated but were well maintained. food choices were limited but number of people staying at the hotel is low and would be a challenge. plenty of options in town for its size.

Location excellent. Morning coffee excellent, Scott brilliant. So friendly and informative. Theo also.

The cleanliness of the bathroom and balcony. No smoking in pool area should be enforced and no glass in the pool area. Both were ignored. OHS&W issue. However, overall staff were excellent and their friendliness and willingness to accommodate overcame any downside.

The location was great and the room was very comfortable, including a great bed and great air conditioning. Would definitely stay there again.

Perhaps a couple of drawers or some narrow shelving in the room would be good. Also some hanging hooks. Space is limited in the room, but it is still lovely.

A lovely experience with the underground bar/cafe and access to the museum/old mine.

Signage to find our room was hard to find and we encountered other people staying who had the same issue. It is not clear which rooms are upstairs, or around the corner before the stairs.
