We loved the room we stayed in, it was very clean. Upgrading to the water view room was a fantastic choice. As soon as we opened the door, we could see a black swan in the water from our balcony. The hotel lobby feels like a 5-star establishment, with plenty of lounges to sit and read, and the restaurant serves delicious food. The fireplace in the restaurant made it very cozy, and the outside deck is lovely too. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. We also noticed that the hotel provides free spring water for guests to fill the water bottle
The only comment is that perhaps the position of the power points needs to be reviewed. We had to leave the kettle on the floor when boiling water, as it couldn't reach the powerpoint when left on the table.

Big, beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and even accommodated us for dinner on short notice despite us not making a booking which was appreciated with 2 toddlers in tow! The deck is big and lovely with a great view. Food portions were generous and delicious! We went back for breaky and were equally pleased. The rooms are clean and spacious. The hotel has many sitting areas which is nice when travelling in a group as it means you can hang out there rather than in someone's room.
The coffee was a little underwhelming which is a shame as it looked like good, TasCaff, e beans are used.

Wow - so much more than we expected having read some other online comments. Hotel is huge and very comfortable - as are the rooms. The staff were terrific and really went out pf their way to make us feel very welcome. We even had the chance to chat with the new owner over dinner.... did we mention the food!. Oysters were divine, meals in the restaurant first class and very reasonably priced- as were the drinks. No surprise the restaurant was packed and we had to wait for a table.
Only negative was rooms are a little dated (but who cares about a little dating when the rooms are so large, comfortable and spotlessly clean), and the shower was a little small, given the size of the room. We also noticed no air-con but it's Tasmania and we certainly didn't need it in early February. As we discovered and others have commented the Hotel are under very new management and it's obvious to see the changes already made and I'd expect those other issues will be a thing of the past give it another 5-6 months.

Very pleasantly surprised at our stay here, as there was so much more to it than just a room, there was also a seperate, very spacious lounge area for guests which is great when the weather might not be so good and you don't want to be confined to your room. The room was clean & the bed very comfortable, which in itself is very important to travellers. We ate in the dining room, the food delicious & fresh and prices very affordable. The new owners appear to be doing a fair bit of work to the hotels surrounding gardens & pool area, this didn't affect our stay at all, but once this is completed it should all be looking good.
Great stay and would recommend this hotel. Nothing we didn't like

We were greeted with a smile from the reception desk and instantly felt welcome, Comfortable spacious areas where you can sit and relax, read a book, have a chat with a cuppa or a proper drink. Large dining areas including a massive deck where you can sit for hours looking out over the bay and surrounding areas. the bar and restaurant open for breakfast lunch and dinner 7 days a week serves good hot food and good cold beer from the professional friendly staff. When next in St Helens we will be staying at this very comfortable well run Hotel

Location. Easy drive to Benelong Bay. Easy walk into town and local restaurants
The pool was not in operation and one of the reasons we booked this hotel was to have swim in hot weather. The room we had was stated to be a garden view but new landscaping was needed and it was in effect a view of the car park. Further on one day of our stay mechanical diggers working on landscaping made so much noise we could not sit outside.

Clean, comfy rooms. Quiet area and close walking distance to town. Nice outlook. Plenty of parking.
We didn’t really see any staff so hard to rate. Had a meal at restaurant and wasn’t too bad but I guess there just weren’t any people about so no atmosphere, so no one’s fault I guess. No breakfast was provided. It would have been nice if just a continental breakfast was available. It was quiet at Port Arthur but at least they offered a continental breakfast for $12 a person which was suffice.

We had a 2 night stay in a Twin Waterview Room. Overall the room was a good size and we had a lovely deck area with table and chairs overlooking the water. Access to our room from the free parking area was very convenient. The hotel had a very pleasant ambience with each wing connected via a small sitting / foyer area - some of these having fresh water fountains to fill up your water bottles. Rooms had internal access to the reception area and restaurant and there was a good security system whereby an access code was needed to enter after 8pm. We ate at the onsite restaurant both nights and could not fault the meals - the Lease 65 oysters were to die for - freshest oysters I've ever had and very reasonably priced! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Beds need improving - our beds were low to the ground and had soft mattresses. In addition, our room was located next to the laundry facilities which were operational until 8pm - although this may seem a reasonable finish time, we could hear the constant thumping of the washing machines and dryers whilst we were trying to relax in our room during certain times of each day. If you plan to be in your room during the day would suggest requesting a room that was not located near the laundry.

The location is convenient and walking distance to lovely restaurants and take away spots. From the hotel you can wander around the bay. We loved that outside visitors could join us in the property's shared spaces for drinks from the bar and that the restaurant served delicious, reasonably priced meals. There is ample parking for guests. Loved the water refill station! A great initiative.
We have suggested perhaps offering 2 sets of towels if rooms are not serviced daily as ours didn't dry by the time we needed more. However, reception was only too willing to hand over more :) so it wasn't a huge drama.

The location was perfect, a short walk to town. The bed was super comfortable. We stayed in a large ground floor king room, with a little balcony overlooking the water. The room was very clean, shower had a strong and hot water flow. Strong wi-fi. Helpful and friendly staff. Good food in the bistro, also serves Thai. Four of us had dinner, pizza and various Thai dishes, all really nice. The wine list is small, quite expensive, showcasing good Tassie drops. Would recommend this hotel and we'd stay there again..
The building is quite tired, needs a good spruce up and a paint job. The room smelt slightly musty on entry, but once we opened the door to balcony, the smell soon dissipated.
