Being able to walk along the foreshore

Having received our booking confirmation on 14 April - almost three months before our stay, we were very disappointed to be given a room near the road, where parking our car adjacent to the room was not easily achieved. Furthermore, within minutes of checking in and looking ant our room, and upon asking if there was another room available, we were told in strong terms that we’d booked a standard room and that’s what we had. In fact our booking confirmation said we had a deluxe room. Having previously stayed there numerous times over the past 13 years, this lack of concern for the guest was most disappointing.

I liked being right on the Esplanade, which was a good place for walking (though often windy). It was also close to the Museum Village as well as a couple of good restaurants. Though my reservation printout didn't list a microwave, our room had one. The beds (queen-sized and twin) were comfortable. My husband slept on the twin bed so I could get better sleep. I thought the queen bed was one of the more comfortable beds on our trip. The shower had good pressure and the temperature stayed reasonably steady as long as the water was run for a minute or so first and the volume was fairly high. There is a guest laundry with two washing machines and two dryers. The washers are fairly large (double capacity?), as are the dryers. Tokens can be purchased from reception. Another guest told us that a local laundromat was more expensive. We used our own detergent, but apparently that is available from the reception desk as well. The motel honored our special request for a quiet room and put us in the back away from traffic noise, etc. We lucked out with quiet neighbors. We did not eat in the motel restaurant except to have dessert one evening. Though both desserts tasted good, we thought they were overpriced, especially the chocolate lava cake.

The shower was a little bit slippery, so be careful. We had to empty the small refrigerator of most of the mini-bar items (which are for sale) to get our own stuff in there. The little freezer did not seem to actually freeze our ice packs, but at least it got them cold. (There was a sign saying not to change the temperature of the fridge.) There were no electrical outlets near the bedside tables that we could use. (There was a sign saying not to unplug the bedside clock.)

The Bay of Isles is in a great location, everything is in walking distance, shops, restaurants, beach, coffee, cinema and a lot more. It has a large amount of rooms which are maintained to high standards and the staff are more than obliging with all your enquiries and needs. The great thing about this motel is that should you not want to go anywhere the facilities cater to everything - room service, Restaurant (Fantastic Experience and Kudos to the staff they are fabulous and very curtious & welcoming and the food was 4.5 out of 5 - Dinner amazing) for Breakfast and Dinner, tours purchases are available from reception and the grounds are maintain extremely well. This business has been going for many years and some of the elements like plumbing and the facilities are a little dated but for value for money - I would say you can't go pass The Bay of Isles.

The plumbing to rooms need a little bit of care as there were times when the noise to the rooms were a little loud due to someone nearby showering.

Location, room, food

Bowls for cereal would have been nice and more cutlery. We didn't have milk the first day we arrived but in saying that I didn't bother going to reception to say anything as I wanted to get some things at the shop anyway

Very clean, spacious,comfortable bed great tv with good choice of channels. Excellent staff very friendly and helpful. Nice to have a bath and a shower. Location fab across road from beach and 5 mins to shops etc

No glasses for cold drinks only cups for coffee and tea and overpriced mini bar nice to have option but much cheaper to go get your own

Housekeeping staff were awesome. As were the wait staff and front of house. Up to the usual standard, I'm pleased to say. I am looking forward to my next visit. The location is brilliant.

Unfortunately, there was a mix-up with payment and I was double charged. They immediately noticed and set up a refund but it has been a few days and the refund is yet to hit my bank.

Very happy with our short stay. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The location is fantastic.

No parking for family rooms, not a big deal but a bit annoying. Pleased Street parking is free though! Connecting door caught me a bit off guard but is locked on Both sides. However if you have a large family and book two rooms this feature would be amazing.

We appreciated having a large window/sliding door that looked out into a grassed courtyard. This made the room feel more spacious and light. The motel is next to the very charming heritage village precinct with a great cafe, Louis. Also in easy walking distance of the centre of town. It was very helpful to have access to an Electric Vehicle charger to recharge our EV during the night. This was the deciding factor for us in booking here.

On one occasion a fossil fuel car was blocking our access to the EV charger, despite us having put red cones out to delineate the EV charging space. As a suggestion, it would be very helpful if the motel actually painted lines to delineate or otherwise signed the EV parking space so other cars knew not to block access. This is common practice elsewhere.

Right on the sea front beautiful views. The restaurant food was exceptional. We had the best Fillet eye steak we have ever had. Cooked to perfection. Rooms comfortable with a nice garden view.

Parking area could be a bit better outside of our room. Parking on a slant and having obstructions you could quite easily reverse into.

Location was probably the best aspect

The room we had had a sign in the bathroom about slippery surface. The shower is lower than the rest of the bathroom and hence this actually enhances the slippery aspect. My father fell onto his elbow despite knowing about the sign and suffered a large haematoma. When he went to report that at the front desk, nothing was offered, done, noted, except “sorry.” I was bitterly disappointed as my father reported this so others may not experience what he did. Instead he was ignored.
