Gorgeous building and grounds truly lovely and lovingly maintained.

Breakfast was disappointing tbh based on the recommendations. And breakfast service bit hostile when I mentioned that we ran out of cheese, and then ran out of milk for the coffee, and then ran out of coffee! Kind of a meagre spread. Front desk also bit odd when I asked where I could buy a large bottle of water (they only had very small ones for sale). He threw up his hands like, who would want a large bottle of drinking water and I had to go out and ask for a grocery store of a passerby. But truly, a lovely peaceful place to stay. Took many photos.

Posada Convento do Carmo is a hidden gem! Everything about the property just oozes with charm. The grounds are so beautiful with lovely gardens and pathways, the breakfast area is outside in the midst of the garden. The rooms are huge with high ceilings and there is a nice pool. The town of Cachoeira is also very charming.

The wifi only works in the lobby area.

Air conditioner worked perfectly, comfortable bed pillows and shower. The building remains as its original architecture, well kept garden and good breakfast with typical food. Very good location and nice staff.

TV in the room didn't really work

Noisy room on street side, the staff was very kind to give us another room.

Breakfast was of debatable quality until I suggested adding cereals with cold milk and fried eggs with bacon to the menu. Asking nicely always helps and the staff is keen to accommodate. In fact it truly feels like being at home. Cozy atmosphere, attentive staff and splendid setting.

The room could use a coat rack to hang clothes or towels, as well as a desk and chair for laptop users. Minor details but details do count. On a more serious note, the swimming pool was terribly designed. Can't change that now but basically there is no outflow of surface water, be it via a surrounding channel or by overflow (infinite-type pool). Of course it is cleaned every morning but it takes mere minutes for falling leaves and insects of all varieties to transform the surface into a breeding ground. Mind you, this isn't an isolated case. All pools I've seen thus far in Brazil draw water from the bottom and do not filter it before re-injecting. This isn't a minor detail at all, as it limits safe use to only a few minutes a day. After that, just make sure you don't smile while swimming.

The quiet atmosphere of this old convent, the efficient and friendly staff, the new and improved breakfast menu after a few recommendations were made. If they don't have it, just ask and it will show up.

Not much the hotel can do about that but, due to the old building features, those tiny creepy crawlers showed up after a couple weeks and decided to settle in my bed. So small you can't see them but they leave dozens of scratchy bites after each raid. Changed room. It took them 3 days to find me again. Rats. I do recommend coming armed with some insect repellent (available at the nearest pharmacy).
