The hosts go out of their way to give their guests a great experience. For example, they made me wonderful vegan breakfasts, and made me vegan treats for the afternoon tea. My husband is not vegan, and he also loved the food. The location is perfect — within walking distance of almost everything, yet on a quiet street. We could walk to the waterfront in five minutes, and to the Kingsbrae gardens in less than ten. Beds were super comfortable, and we loved having a little fridge in the room. It was a much-needed and refreshing stay.

A lovely heritage building home to a young family who moved to the area a few years ago. There are signs of a ‘boutique’ establishment in the making. They are clearly working hard on their refurbishments and new business with lots of personal touches that are both modern and in keeping with the bones of the home. Very clean and the ‘snack basket’ in the room worked alongside the coffee facilities and fridge. Breakfast is not provided but within 5 minutes walk there are many coffee shops etc.

We didn’t meet the owners or staff but as we arrived late and left early this was understandable.

Lovely restored historic inn, beautiful comfortable room, facilities modernized but kept consistent with historic style. Gracious, welcoming and informative hosts. Within a few blocks of Water Street, the downtown on the bay - with shops and restaurants overlooking the water. Town itself is charming with consistent colonial era architecture throughout. Neighborhoods are also lovely for walking including the lighthouse. Fabulous restaurants and cafes.

Loved everything

The Montague Rose Inn was the perfect place to stay in St Andrews! The rooms were clean and perfectly designed and the family who owns it was so nice and welcoming. They did a wonderful job renovating the place as they’ve shown on their Instagram. The Inn is located just a short walk to the main road. Would love to stay here longer next time.

Breakfast was simple, well balanced and nicely plated. The owners have a young family and they were part of the breakfast experience (4-month-old in a carry-sling and big brother, Link, were delightful. Tanzia and Ben are exceptionally welcoming and besides running the inn themselves, offer afternoon tea and curries. We found them to be very good ambassadors for St Andrews and would definitely stay with them again. There were deer on the lawn and a small spotted one often curled up in their garden.

More TV channel choices. We couldn't get the Blue Jay game.

The hosts were the sweetest couple and did everything to make our stay enjoyable. The included full breakfast was great. Also, The Montague Rose is very dog-friendly, and Skipper the Travel Dog enjoyed his stay as well.

A minor point, but our private bathroom was not in our room, per se, but a separate room which we had to go out in the hall to access. This was somewhat inconvenient, especially in the middle of the night when we had to get dressed to go to the bathroom (other guest rooms adjoined the hallway). I think our room was the only one without an ensuite bathroom.

Beautiful property in a great location . Very clean and comfortable. St Andrews is a lovely little town which feels very safe. Just a few bars and restaurants but we found it perfect for an overnight stop on our journey to the bay of Fundy. We even saw deer roaming around the town.

Nothing to dislike . The hosts are lovely.

The location was excellent, the proprietors were very friendly and very helpful with wonderful suggestions of what to see in the area. I’ve been on the road for seven months and this is the best accommodation by far. Do not miss this lovely area and delightful innkeepers.

nice location. Ben was friendly. His daughter was a sweetheart, always smiling while being carried in the snuggle. Breakfast was good.

never a fan of bathroom down the hall. met other travelers staying in rooms with en-suite bathrooms. didn’t know there was an option. breakfast could have been a little different for each of our three days but recognizing Ben was doing double duty while his wife was away…..shouldn’t complain.

The location was excellent. Quiet neighbourhood but easy walk to restaurants and shops. I liked all the little extras the hosts provided such as snacks in the room. They also lent us one of their bikes to use.
