Loved the staff and location. Also, liked the style of the dorm, i.e. pod units. Unlike older, decrepit hostels offering only bunk beds, the Parc Avenue Hostel provides enclosed pods with simili-wood panelling and good noise reduction, its own bright lighting and a convenient outlet to charge smart devices. Ergo, a lot more privacy and comfort than old school dormitories.

No free breakfast option and only two shower options, which can be a real headache with wait times during peak tourist season when all 35+ units are occupied. Better for girls as they have access to their own shower including the two mentioned above.

This location boasts higher-end hotel suites/lofts and bargain dorm facilities for budget-conscious travellers. Additionally, the hotel is located in an iconic Montreal neighbourhood; namely, the Mile End district. It is chockful of shops, restaurants, cafés, and bars. The only stand-out for those with limited financial resources would be the world-famous Milos restaurant (obviously Greek) just south of the hotel. Luxury vehicles and supercars usually park in front of the place, and having been there in the past, rest assured that a couple's date with a modest selection from their impressive wine list will set you back at least CAD$400.

The main dorm room can be littered with personal effects like running shoes, travel bags, etc. The main dorm room tends to be populated by younger men; it can reek like a gym locker room. I would suggest that the staff encourage travellers to leave their shoes outside the dorm room or secure them in their backpacks/travel luggage.

I loved the place—it was very well located and an excellent bang for your buck. At proximity to all the nice shops, cafés, restaurants (e.g. Milos) and grocery stores, I sincerely enjoyed my staff. The staff agents are amazing too: Shout to to Hiru, Mireille, and Kyle.

There was a chronic lack of toilet paper, let alone a stock of at least an additional roll. I realize a slim minority of visitors may be so daft to steal toilet paper. However, the countermeasure of stocking one roll at a time makes life a possibly major inconvenience for the other 98% of honest travellers. I would rethink the risk-benefit of stocking at least 2-3 rolls in case someone needs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night when there is seldom any staff available for assistance.

You get a friggin' giant HOT TUB with a gorgeous view of Montreal and you're allowed to bring guests up there. Why is nobody talking about this?? It was an awesome boon. Take a close look at the rooftop pics. They are extremely accurate. And you can lounge up there in the hot tub watching the cityscape night lights all the way till midnight before they ask you to leave. And NOBODY else uses it for reasons unknown so you'll likely have it all to yourself. Other reasons this place is great and the rating is far too low for what you get (maybe it is under new management? I don't understand all the bad reviews): - Modern renovated everything just like the pics - all very well thought out. It gives the impression of "If I was going to run a hostel this is what I would do if I had this space." - Every bed is indeed fully covered giving ample privacy and light insulation. You wont be disturbed by people walking in and out - In fact, there are dim lights only in the bedrooms - Despite my initial impression that there are not enough washrooms for the number of occupants they seem to aggressively clean them daily so they never feel too dirty - Subjective but I had to climb a ladder to get to a little nook where my bed was hidden away in a tiny little cute space. I'm weird and really like this. Was nice and cozy.

This one is a huge negative: so there are communal bagels. I took one and there was enough mold on it to kill a cow. Please for the love of God do a better job managing the free food you are giving out to guests. I wouldn't eat a single bagel from the communal trove as a result of finding this Bagel of Death. Throw it all out or I daresay thee shall suffer the wrath of lawsuits when some other unfortunate guest goes and eats one. Also there is a pervasive bad smell in the bedroom. Not sure what you could do about this, but if you are sensitive to that sort of thing (I'm not and just acclimated after a night) worth keeping in mind.

I loved the vibe, location, and staff... except the night staff member Kyle. Just kidding. Kyle is an amazing night security member and made everyone feel safe. The hostel is very well located, steps away from multiple grocery stores, pharmacies, cafés, bistros, and other shops. In the heart of Montreal's most vibrant multicultutal neighbourhood, I would recommend to all students or budget-conscious travellers. The great value of hostel lodging comes with a small cost: hostel living, which always implies one or two visitors perhaps not doing their part or spending the minimum effort to pick up after themselves, clear and wash their dishes, or dispose of trash. Thankfully, well-raised guests like me are the majority, so tidiness and cleanliness are still maintained despite some inevitable clean-up after others. Overall, it's a fun and inexpensive experience in an amazing part of town. Bravo!

Read above. Generally, I still rate it a 9/10 and would rate it higher were it not for a couple of entitled guests with no community sensibility.

I was in the hostel ,,great location ,very clean with breakfast included just sometime no eggs for breakfast , many restaurant ,supermarket shops ,coffees walking distance around in Avenue du parc , amazing mountain forest walking distance also for those who love walking running in the nature in Monte Royal ,also awesome view of Montreal buildings in Monte Royal up in the montain . The morning housekeeping ladies are very nice and helpfull, the other guests also respectfull and clean ,everyone clean his dishes and respect the other. The only 2 incovients is there is amazing Jaccuzi upstairs with nice view but no body tell me from the reception about it when I arrive ,I discover it from the other guests in my last 2 days before i leave ,also there is no space for putting the luggage or your bag pack only in the floor ,and no big lokers to put your luggage, when I ask the reception in the beginning he said check which one is empty and i will check if i have the key its not logical, finally i find one and he find the key but its not logical why they dont make bigger lockers with lock ,each guest can bring his owm lock they need more space for bigger lockers ,but in general I love it,i will comeback next year but for private room not hostel bed in the hostel I give 8/10

It was the cheapest place I found in the city at that moment. The staff kindly allowed me to sit in the kitchen for a couple of hours after check-out time

There was often no toilet paper in the washing room and the shower was clogged. But I understand that it is difficult to keep track of this with so many guests and such a large turnover of guests. Also, a handrail could be placed in the capsule, which could serve as a hanger for clothes or towels

hostel location was very good. and employers very helpfull. i stayed 25 days and happy for that. Common areas allowing you to be social.

I had a hard time understanding what products they provided for breakfast. But in terms of the kitchen, there was airfry, microwave oven, regular oven, coffee and always hot water. You can do your own shopping and easily cook in the kitchen.

Everything necessary was provided. I liked the living room and the way it looked. The bed was comfortable.

I missed toilet paper in both bathrooms at one point. The luggage space was a little small for all the people's luggage, the hallway was quite overloaded.
