Friendly, helpful desk staff and a pleasant environment in the main reception/bar area. Being set back from the main road meant it was nice and quiet, even though the surrounding area is quite busy, and the bed was comfortable, so I had a very good night's sleep. Plenty of convenience stores and restaurants in the neighbourhood, and the nearest Metro station was a 10-15 minute walk away, so it was easy to get around.

Although it was absolutely fine for what I needed, some people may find the room a little small. (However, bigger rooms are available in the property)

One staff member didn’t know how to use coffee machine but allowed me to go behind the counter to use it which was good, although I was still charged full price which wasn’t fair, coffee quite expensive and they never had milk. Very expensive for size of room which was quite small. Location a bit far from things - 15-20 minute walk from subway, malls etc.

The room was much smaller than i expected but that's completely my fault - i didn't look at the square meters in the description for some reason. So based on the pictures i expected it to be different. Not the hotels' fault though! Even though it was small for 2 people it was still good for a short stay and for being out all day. Clean, everything you might need is there. No fridge though! Personnel speaks english which is helpful. Nice atmosphere.

Windows faced parking lot. Bed was hard for my taste. Location is quite far away from everything, didn't see any places to eat at around the hotel. But we didn't search, i just didn't see any around, maybe there are some.

I had a wonderful experience at the place. The location is incredibly convenient, as it is situated not far from the CBD area. The logistics are excellent, allowing for easy transportation within the Chaoyang area by subway, bus, or taxi. The staff were friendly and incredibly supportive. I particularly enjoyed the cozy outdoor area and the bar located on the first floor. The rooms themselves were cozy and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.

The internet connection was not so stable , so I couldn’t really work from my room.

The hotel is reasonably priced compared to others in Beijing at this time, which is why I chose it. I can confirm the hotel does accept foreigners. My room was fine, bed was a good size, bathroom was big. All facilities worked fine. The hotel provided bottled water and tea.

The only real problem with this place is that it's not particularly close to a metro station. A new line is being built as of the time of writing, so in the future this shouldn't be a problem, but currently there is quite a long walk to the nearest station.

We had a really good time in Shangchao hotel. The room was small but comfortable and quiet. The hotel is quite close to two metro stations and visiting the city is easy. There also is a free use wash and dry machine and the common area is enjoyable. Moreover the staff is kind and helpful. Liu, the receptionist english spoken, is special!

Excellent value considering the location. Room clean and comfortable. Nice little bar downstairs where you can sit and eat something if you order in; also has an outdoor section. It's about 15 minutes walk to the nearest subway. The area is old but perfectly safe and a 10 minute walk gets you to a decent variety of restaurants. Staff were helpful and friendly and let me use the hotel machine to do some washing which really helped out.

Very nice staff. We exchanged wechat numbers because I was really worried about the cancellation (it happened to me few times) so I warned the property that we’ll be there only around 3am. They said it’s ok and everything went smooth. Not the subway station is under construction so it’s a bit far (like 10 min walk from the hotel) to the other one. But for us it was ok, we like to walk ))) Also, it’s a straight line to the Universal resort.

This is a really nice, boutique hotel, very close to Beijing's CBD area. It's just a few minutes by bike or taxi, and the subway is about 5 minutes away. The hotel is situated down a side street off a main road, so it's not too loud, though parking is basically non-existent in that area so best to avoid driving. As for the hotel itself, it's a nice place with a bar in the entrance. I didn't make use of the a bar but seems there's plenty of choice there, and the staff were very helpful sorting out my green code with the neighbourhood after I got my test on arrival. The room was a decent size, not huge but enough space for luggage. The shower was strong (it's a wet room, so toilet and shower are together), and the bed was comfortable. There's air con if required too. Overall, a nice place.

No real issues. I didn't get my complimentary shampoo for a few days but that's about the only thing.

It was a little heaven tucked away in a crazy big city. No matter how crazy Beijing is, the minute you step into ShangChao you are greeted with calmness. it was so quiet, no noise from the street, guaranteed good night sleep. The bed and bedding was super comfy.

I would have given it a 100% star if it had more hanging space (especially for ladies :) ) and a little fridge.
