Hôtel Diderot

Lovely setting. Comfortable bed. The antique furnishings were lovely. There was a hotel around the corner with great food.

Would have been nice to have a mini fridge. As an older couple it would have been nice to stay on the lower floor instead of the third floor. The staff did help with bringing up the heavier suitcases which was nice. But, if you have an mobility issues make sure you ask for the lower floors.

My room was comfy, and had everything I needed for my stay. Breakfast was good, but a hot option would have been an improvement. Scrambled eggs or boiled eggs in particular, possibly bacon too. But in general breakfast was adequate. Location was superb, everything was within easy walking distance, so no need for buses or taxis.

The plumbing system ! Every time someone had a shower or flushed, it sounded very loud in my room. My room was number 11 at the end of the corridor on the second floor, maybe it was because of that situation that it seemed loud. The cistern of the room that flushed took a long time to fill up too. But this was not a major point.

We had a very friendly welcome at the property and were shown to a really lovely room overlooking the courtyard/garden. After winding through narrow streets the car park is very convenient and the hotel is a short walk to the town centre and restaurants through the old streets. Fabulous breakfast with homemade jam, eaten outside on the terrace surrounded by plants. A really lovely privately owned and run hotel.

A wonderful gem of a hotel. Located within easy walking distance from the centre of Chinon. Really quiet location. Beautiful courtyard garden. Traditional and comfortable rooms. Car parking available in the courtyard. Lovely breakfast with amazing range of homemade confitures. Staff and reception friendly helpful and efficient

Excellent welcome. Excellent breakfast on beautiful terrace. Spotlessly clean and charming décor. Car parking on site with gates locked at night. Drinks and light refreshments available all day until 8.30pm.

Personally we had difficulty with the staircase to the second floor, although we enjoyed the room and the view once we got up there.

Breakfast great, local food available for evenings, good. Location excellent.

First room a bit small and dark, upgrade to super room. Check in closes 9pm, caused frantic journey from north coast port but arrived 15 mins to spare.

Lovely hotel in a quiet street. Rooms overlooking a delightful garden with outside breakfast area. We had a room on the ground floor. Cool rooms when the weather outside was very hot. Very friendly staff. Hotel clean and comfortable

have stayed here several times 90’s overnight stop on way to south of France It still has wonderful French charm and conveniently placed to walk to towns center

No air con Even with excellent fan it was uncomfortably hot during the night

Very quiet location with a lovely garden, walkable from the station and into the centre of town. Our room was spotless and bed very comfortable.

A bit more folded clothes space would have been handy, but our room did have a decent size built-in wardrobe for hanging things.

Quirky property with lovely shady terrace/garden for breakfast, drinks etc. Handy location. Helpful staff. As such a restful place to stay.

Seems petty to charge clientele for parking - a week would be £50 extra. Sad not to be able to take advantage of lovely terrace/garden for coffee/digestif etc. All shuts at 9pm
