Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. The room overlooked the Monsieur Hulot Beach, with a spectacular view of the local coast. Unfortunately, the weather was stormy during part of my visit, which meant that I couldn't spend any time sitting on the good-sized balcony outside the double doors to the room. Located in a pleasant little village which has lots of references to Monsieur Hulot and his famous Holiday there in the 1950s. Reachable by bus from St Nazaire railway station (bus service U3 at the time of writing, final destination Chemin de la Source, but alight a few stops before it at the "Jacques Tati" stop which is about five minutes' walk to the hotel).

The room was smaller than I expected. I did wonder whether there might have been any scope for the hotel to extend the room a bit, using up some of the spacious balcony, but I doubt that the hotel could justify the cost and effort involved for what would provide only a modestly-sized improvement to the bedroom space.

The hotel is right on the beach. We booked a room with a sea view and it was fabulous to go to sleep listening to the sound of the waves in a really comfortable bed. There was a very good choice of things for breakfast and the coffee was really good. As well as the breakfast room, there was a restaurant/bar on the beach and the main restaurant overlooked the sea. The staff were all very friendly and patient while I tried using my schoolgirl French and very helpful when I couldn't manage! M. Hulot Plage is a sort of village within the village of Saint Marc sur Mer and is a charming little place. There are 4 or 5 restaurants and a quirky bar in very easy walking distance from the hotel. We stayed 4 nights, but could easily have stayed for longer. Absolutely loved it.

The whole hotel is in need of a refurb as it all looks very tired. The bedroom was quite small, but adequate. However the cleaning of the room could have been better. The big things were fine, e.g. bed linen changed every day, floor, shower and vanity unit, etc. all spotless, but the corners were a bit 'mucky'. It sort of speaks of either the management don't allow the maids enough time per room to clean properly, or there aren't enough maids and the ones they have have to rush to get everything done.

As Tati fans, this was a special treat. Inside, the hotel has little or nothing that is reminiscent of Monsieur Hulot’s Holiday, but the beach and the whole atmosphere of the town are pretty much un-sullied, despite the modern architecture.

Our sea-facing room had all we needed, but was small. Even with the windows open all night, the duvet provided was insufferably hot for late July. This is a common problem we encounter in hotels - I don’t understand why there isn’t a summer option.

This is an iconic hotel in a stunning location. My room had an incredible view of the golden sands and shimmering sea, breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice (although a little expensive at 14 euros). Staff were busy but efficient and friendly. Shout out to Meline on reception. It was nice to be looked after by someone with such excellent English. No aircon but the fan was useful

The hotel is showing its age and could do with a complete external paint job. Inside, it's looking a bit shabby too. Please install small fridges in all rooms - your customers would really appreciate them. It's confusing that the in-house restaurant is not run by the hotel management. While your useful car park is small, there are plenty more options nearby - perhaps make this clear to guests? Remember beach life goes on until late at night. It's not a place for a quiet evening.

Amazing location! It reminded me of old american movies of the 40's and 50's somehow. The hotel is actually on the beach. You can't get any closer. Extremely big balcony with sun beds and incredible view at the ocean. Very big room. Nice staff. Breakfast room and Restaurant with view. Actually everything has a view. Although the hotel is a little bit worn out, I had one of the most amazing stays of my life here. We booked the hotel on a very short term, not knowing what we get. What we got was ten times above our expectation. I became a big fan of Best Western, because I realized here, that I liked every single stays in a Best Western hotel so far, so I joined their bonus club. From now on I will try to stay in a Best Western hotel, wherever I will go.

We couldn't book another night, because the entire hotel was booked :-)

The hotel is located right on the beach and the terrace rooms have wonderful views. The terrace is very large (double the size of the room?). The room had all we wanted. The wifi was excellent and allowed my tablet to tune into Radio Caroline while also viewing my emails without interruptions. The car park behind the hotel was quiet and safe. The staff were really friendly.

beautiful hotel in stunning location right on the beachfront, with lovely exterior places to sit and enjoy the view. we chose a more expensive room with sea view - well worth it! This hotel features in an old French comedy Mr Hulot’s Holidays so we’re looking forward to watching it on DVD when we get home, and there’s a lovely bronze sculpture of the character on the promenade.

limited parking at the hotel so arrive early if you need a space

The room had a very comfy bed.The room was a little on the small side. There was an electric kettle for our use. Modern en suite with shower.

There was no mirror in the room but there were 2 in the en suite. The full length mirror could be moved to the room. The electric kettle could do with a longer lead as it wouldn't reach the plug while on the desk.

Location was virtually on the beach. Room had a window overlooking the beach; able to watch the waves as they swept in, big ships approaching the Loire estuary, lighthouses and Monsieur Hulots plage. Ability to make tea or coffee using the kettle provided and a generous allowance of tea and coffee.

Room was somewhat cramped, due to being directly affected by the eves ( the person using the right hand side of the bed had to almost bend double to reach their side of the bed. Each side of the bed there was a bedside table and there was also a desktop in front of the window; although these items appeared to have a drawer, they were false drawers, with no actual drawer behind the front panel. Annoying when your bedside table became cluttered with personal effects.

We are fans of M Hulot so went for the location. Breakfast was fine

We didn't use the adjacent restaurant as others were better value
