We both really enjoyed our stay at the Abbaye de Sainte Croix. As others have already explained, the location and the views were genuinely exceptional. Our room was clean, simple and very quiet – parfait. We had dinner on the terrace overlooking Salon de Provence. I had high expectations, given the menu and the chef's reputation, but was blown away by the quality of the ingredients, flavours and presentation. It really was fine dining.

Two small things: I thought the waiting staff were a bit young and inexperienced. Such fine food should have been served by slightly more experienced staff. That said, our waiter was pleasant and helpful. The only other negative was that pretty much all of the pot plants throughout the entire hotel were dead. The weeds seemed to be doing fine, but the whole experience would have been so much more enjoyable had there been beautiful pot plants. Also, it's a bit tacky having plastic plants on the table when such exceptional food is/was being served.

It's a shame we only stayed one night at Garrigae Abbey, because there was much to enjoy at the hotel. We sat near the pool as the sun went down (the water was a bit chilly to really stay in for long) we had dinner inside the restaurant (upon the advice of the staff who said it was very buggy outside) and the food was delicious. We went outside for drinks afterwards and it was a beautiful view from the terrace. Our room was very large with not just one balcony, but a small staircase which took you up to a private 2nd balcony with lounge chairs.

The only complaint I have is that gravel in the parking lot and the path to the front desk made it very difficult to roll your luggage into the hotel. There was no bell boy to help either.

Beautiful building with great views. There is a private sauna. It's an experience staying at an abbaye!

The shower was too small for tall people. There was mold on the walls of the bathroom. There was no shampoo. We tried the restaurant, and it was widely overpriced. The menu seemed nice, but the food was extremely weird and not pleasant (mushroom ice-cream with chocolate, tasteless starter, and smoked, full of fat lamb...)

the staff were amazing and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant and accommodating our baby. the place has a breathtaking view. Breakfast was great and suitable for our 1.5 years old (would suit even younger fellows). we used the massage service and enjoyed it! the room had a lovely terrace.

the hotel is really good and there is nothing not to like. If making an effort to find the disadvantages: for a family with a 1.5 years old the room was a bit small (although in a normal size, just don’t expect something huge). also, if you are a heavy user of a hairdryer - bring it with you as the one in the room isn’t that great. the hotel restaurant was a nice option for dinner and they had kids menu; but we had better dinners in other restaurants around the area within this price range.

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a beautiful view and large terrace. Loved the unique experience of staying in an historical abbey. Breakfast was beautifully presented in the dining room with large choice of foods. Staff were very helpful at all times. The setting of the Abbey is special and beautiful. Location of hotel was good - we were easily able to take a day trip in our car to the village of Lourmarin.

All was good - have no negative comments.

met all of our expectations. Clean, quiet, well-appointed. A 12th century Abbey that has been fully updated. Views are spectacular. Outdoor pool was refreshing after a long day of travel as well as areas for quiet contemplation, and games like bocce or table tennis available. Staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant was amazing great good and spectacular views as the sun set.

It was difficult to find. I depended on Google maps to direct us to the location but it was a few hundred meters off. it sent us to another home and the kind owner directed us to the hotel. (ask for explicit location before attempting the drive!). Trying to find it on a busy, winding mountain road didn’t help. None of this though was the hotels fault.

We’d heard that it had gone down hill but we didn’t find that. the kitchen was up to snuff again. the people were very nice. the view was still stunning although we were unable to eat of take an apperitif on the terrace because of the weather, unfortunately. the old building is charming but it is an old abbey so it gets quite warm in the summer/fall which makes for difficult sleeping, and some of the rooms are laid out in an unuser-friendly way. All in all it is what it is and we love it. this was the fourth stay there in the last 31 years.

the view, the people and the food.

The loocation is amazing and near all touristic attractions and small villages. The view is stunning, the restaurant is great and everyone for the service is wonderful. Our breakfast was better taken in the room given the insects on the main terrace, free of charge !

The bed and pillows could be better, we didnt sleep very well. The toilet / flush was not great to use either.

The staff is absolutely amazing, very friendly, and accommodating. Whether you need a taxi, room service, or a bucket of ice at midnight, they'll sort it out for you. We got stuck in St. Remy with all the taxis sold out and they sorted us a car to come to pick us up from Salon. The room was big, quiet, and had a nice balcony. You can order all the food from the restaurant to the room. The views are great and the sound of cicadas mesmerizing.

You can see that the whole site has had quite a few years under its belt, especially the bathrooms, but everything is still in working order. Since it's in a former monastery, get used to lots of narrow stairs and uneven floors. But this is also a part of its charm.

The breakfast is served at either the charming dining room or the terrace, a unique experience. As for the breakfast itself, whatever is served is fresh and tasty but lacks in variety and there with not much healthy offering, for example no vegetables at all
