The Sunprime Tamala Beach is a big hotel complex directly at Kotu Beach. There are not many shops around. The ambience is really good and the staff friendly.

The security personnel promised to investigate the theft of my watch (and, how I found out later, of my electric beard trimmer) and screen the surveillance camera videos. In spite of my mail written to General Manage4 Victor... I heard nothing! This was a disappointment for me!

The hotel was beautiful and the staff in the restaurant and pool are lovely and attentive. The cleaning staff are amazing and did such a great job and really accommodated us when I asked for birthday decorations in the room for my friend. The room and grounds are beautiful and well with the money.

The front desk staff were a bit strange when it came to guests having visitors during the day and one staff member named Mustapha at the front desk said we could only have guests visit us during the day if they paid 35€ each which I said was ridiculous and seemed like some sort of extortion. They did very little to assist when I asked to speak with the manger for 3 days straight and kept insisting he was not around. Lack of conflict resolution. They really put a dampener on our trip as it was our first time to gambia There are an incredible amount of mosquitoes and insects around the hotel. I don’t if it the plants etc but I was covered in bites. I say this because I later changed hotels to bamboo village nearby and there were hardly any mosquitoes there!

Our stay at Tamala was great. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, from the cleaners and pool attendants, the bar/restaurant staff, reception and spa staff and Victor the General Manager took particularly good care of us. The resort itself was beautiful and definitely lived up to expectations. It was relaxing and there were plenty of sunbeds, as well as direct access onto the beach. The food and drink service (experienced as an all inc. guest) was good - there were plenty of different options every day, including the themed offerings on Wednesday (Beach BBQ), Friday (Fish Fry) and Sunday Brunch, as well as a nice selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The hot oil massages at the onsite spa were so good we went twice during our 2 week stay and overall it was an incredibly relaxing holiday. Would definitely stay here again if returning to The Gambia!

We had a couple of disappointing experiences right at the start of our holiday however, this was sufficiently acknowledged and addressed by the hotel and the GM ensured the remainder of our holiday was the best it could be.

The location is great and the aesthetics of the hotel are amazing.

The rooms are quite jaded and could do with freshening up. I had the Sunday buffet on 8th January with four other people I was travelling with. Four of the five of us had Banjul belly that night. The one who didn’t was the one who didn’t have meat. Overall not impressed with the quality of the food at the hotel. Breakfast options are quite limited with not enough fresh fruit available. Reception staff can make you feel quite uncomfortable as there can be up to four of them just standing staring at you (unsmiling) when you have a query at the reception desk or if you are sat on the sofa opposite. Perhaps this is a training issue?!

Loved the layout. Friendly service. I booked my initial reservation online and when I showed up they didn't have anymore rooms available, so I was turned away. I rebooked for a few days later. I enjoyed my stay, but I thought the walls were very dirty for this level of hotel. Everything else was good. Nice menu offerings for both dinner and breakfast.

I really liked the view I had, you opened the room door and saw the beach. Aisha, the girl who cleaned our room with a grade 10 girl. Generally all staff,The hotel is rated 10, it's a pity that the owners don't know how to appreciate and exploit them by working too many hours and for too low a salary, considering that they are of another nation and not Africans. Where they come from should know you can work until a person is exhausted.

I didn't like that you don't have much to eat for breakfast, you don't have many options, the price is very high. The rooms do not look like the money you pay, everything is beautiful outside, but not the rooms, they are 2 stars. The important thing is that it is clean. The walls and corners are dusty, the only good thing was the bed, it was amazing.

- Very kind staff, helping and taking care of the customers (including if you arrive after midnight when your flight was delayed) ; - Very nice and convenient restaurant/bar with a terrace and direct access to the beach ; - Large swimming pool allowing you to swim/train ; - Large rooms and comfortable bedding ; - Very good food and a large choice of dishes/drinks on the menu ; - Breakfast with a large choice of food and beverages (with the possibility to get a real coffee instead of a filter one) - Very good location (away from Senegambia district with noise, traffic, harassing people or restaurant/bar staff...).

Hotel design and grounds, spacious bedroom, comfortable bed

Room was not ready on arrival, room allocated had paint can and other tools left in bathroom, parts of beach very dirty, general maintenance lacking in some areas. No iron or ironing board in room and what was available was substandard

The hotel is stunning, it definitely has a wow feeling each time the taxi drops you back. The rooms are gorgeously decorated and the bed is big and comfortable. There is much needed AC in the room and the pool bar has fans. The staff were so accommodating and lovely, all so positive and always happy to help. The reception staff were friendly and never tired of coming to unlock our safe for us, the security were kind and always say hi and ask how you are. The restaurant and bar staff have exceptional manners and patience and were always ready for a request. I didn’t get all the names of everyone who helped because there were honestly too many kind people but just some to thank are Yus, Amy, Alahji, Habib and so many others. Me and my partner had a wonderful stay here and would love to come back! Thank you!

The only issue we had was that the all inclusive menu was not what we expected. Hotels that we have been to as all inclusive guests usually have food available at all times of the day. Here, there was no food available after the designated meal times which was an issue for us as we wanted to go out a lot and would then not have food when we returned. There was a beach bar which required payment and we’d either have to eat there (which was very expensive) or wait until the meal time. The bar would close at 12 midnight and there would be no food or drink after this time. This was the only issue with the hotel and will make the stay so much better if they add an all inclusive snack bar or open the bar for longer.

Breakfast was good. The landscaping and vies are beautiful and the pools were wonderful. Also the staff all were very respectful , helpful and went out of their way to help us.

The place is definitely in need of some maintenance and the rooms/bathrooms/gym/spa are quite run down. The dinner restaurant is incredibly slow and the menu was limited with many items missing each day. But compared to the rest of the country and the condition of things it was paradise. So as long as one has expectation in line and recognizes it is all relative then I would say it was excellent for Africa.
