We choose the hotel because is close to the highway so it was the best option for transit to the south. The location is really nice, close to a forest and a lake. We stayed only one evening, but the area is nice and quiet and worth to be explored for few days. The staff is very helpful and nice. The breakfast is very tasty and you have many options for food and drinks. The restaurant is very good and the food is tasty.

You don't have so many options for vegetable at the breakfast. There is no bar or fridge in the room. They are not answering to the messages sent via bookings.com. We received only the reservation confirmation and general information about the hotel. For any other questions, we haven't received any answers.

The hotel sits amongst trees and is beautifully appointed. The new buildings blend very well with the old part of the hotel and there are lots of walks around the whole site. Inside the main building the design is modern and classy. Dinner was exceptional with attentive staff. Breakfast is a huge buffet with copious amounts of fresh fruit, meat, cheese, bread, fruit juices, eggs, bacon, sausages and plenty of good coffee. Returning next week for another stay. Excellent all round. Nadine on reception particularly helpful.

Some more bar staff would maybe be helpful as we couldn’t find anyone to serve us a drink whilst sitting in the reception area. Eventually asked the receptionist and she organised our pre-dinner drinks.

Our room was in a separate building that looked a little old-fashioned on entry, but the room itself was delightful and the shower hot, with good pressure. Superb breakfast buffet and very nice evening meal. Very clean, staff very friendly and courteous. We felt it represented very good value for money. This hotel has been run by the same family for 130 years, they've clearly worked through all the bugs many times over!

The hotel is very close to highway, good location, very nice and quiet and relax property. The hotel has a very nice restaurant. The restaurant has very good dishes, very nice atmosphere, very good service. Breakfast is very good, shower is very good.

We stayed in Junior suite and i think the deco and comfortable pillow can be improved. but the size of the room is very good. small refrigerator and a water cooker can be nice. wifi can be improved.

Beautiful hotel, lovely grounds and an excellent breakfast Good location for an off the motorway stop on a long journey. Wildeshausen is a lovely town to visit. Friendly check out receptionist, who realised our spoken German was limited.

The see through curtains! No black out, either by wind down shutters, or lined curtains . Could see hotel lights outside and sunrise, even when curtains closed. Im being fussy here, but was surprised at such an up market hotel.

I hadn't realised that the hotel would not be staffed and that the bar/restaurant wouldn't be open on the 2 nights we were staying. Reading back over the small print, I realise that this was communicated but it was initially disappointing. That said, the hotel had arranged vouchers for breakfast in the cafe opposite which was really delicious.

Easy to find and plenty of parking. Set in a lush green area which felt miles away from busy roads and heavy traffic. Lovely spaces for dining inside and outside. Excellent menu and tasty food after a long drive. Room was large and clean, very quiet too. Comfortable beds. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The weather was warm so the room got very warm during the night despite an open window. Aircon would have been nice.

I liked the room, it was spacious and had a clean bathroom I also like the breakfast, as there was enough choice and they served gluten-free bread.

The staff at breakfast was a bit slow responding in the first instance. Felt as if they were hesitating. There was a one-way route to the breakfast buffet, but the entrance and exit did not feel intuitive. Think they better could swap these.

The grounds were beautiful as well as the interior of the bar, restaurant and lobby. It was very restful and the rooms were quiet. I couldn’t hear other guests in their rooms which is a big plus

We stay at Gut Altona every time we travel across EU. It’s conveniently located and absolutely top quality hotel. Full comfort, fantastic restaurant, best breakfast ever, very clean and friendly staff. We travel with a dog and areas around offer fantastic walks.
