Johannes place is stunning. We loved the room and the view is amazing. The bed was super comfy for us. It was very soft. The location is also 10/10. It is close to the old town with bakery and restaurants 2mins walk. Everything is super close to be honest. Johannes was also very responsive and a great host. She messaged to check on us and see if wr have arrived which is super nice. There were home made biscuits waiting for us when we arrived which is a very nice touch. we travel with our dog Ruby so it was great that the place is dog friendly. We loved Monschau! It's one of the best placed we have been and I can't wait to be back.

Nothing everything was perfect

We recently had the pleasure of staying in the picturesque town of Monschau, Germany, and I can wholeheartedly say that it exceeded all my expectations. Monschau's old-world charm and natural beauty captivated our senses, making it an unforgettable experience. First and foremost, Monschau's idyllic setting nestled in the Eifel region was nothing short of breathtaking. Surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, the town felt like a fairytale come to life. The property is a charming half-timbered house, accessed from cobblestone streets and beside the gushing Rur River added to its undeniable allure.

We travelled to Monschau late May, it's an adorable village(dorp?). The VIEW like everyone else mentions! Right on the Rur River, we were lulled asleep by the water all night long, no bugs to worry about (it was a cold spring) so could leave the windows open....also, literally everything you need just around a corner or two. It was white asparagus season - delicious with sauce on top or as soup! Be sure to walk/hike around Monschau as it surprises you with it's different views. Didn't visit mustard Museum but bought some at a local store - very worth it if you like mustard. Definitely shall be returning to Monschau again - felt like the seven dwarfs were going to be coming around the corner any minute!

Wouldn't say 'didn't like' but there is no kitchen...but there's a coffee machine and cute little red fridge which sufficed as we only stayed one night (shame on us!) so only need chilled wine & coffee, oh, & bakery 1/2 a block away for breakfast was perfect.

Haus Stehlings probably has the best view of any accommodation in Monschau. Make sure you book a river view room though (Rurzimmer). The building was built in the 1700s, so it's beautiful to look at, but internally it's not accessible for people who have limited or no mobility. Our room was very large and comfortable. The bed(s) were very soft. The bathroom was newly renovated, big and had much shelf space. The water pressure was good and water was hot. There was plenty of space for our luggage, a small fridge, tea and a coffee machine. There's also a large screen TV with Netflix. The wifi was solid. Our room also had a connecting door to the room next to it, so the two could be used as a large suite for a family if needed. Everything is within walking distance in Monschau.

We arrived on our bikes from the Vennbahn, and what a ride down the valley it is to the town centre, we had arrived at the right street and found the house with no problem, on entering the property it brings you into a lobby which was handy for offloading the bikes with our kit, the street outside is busy and. arrow and the tourist bus travels along the road, so be careful. There is a lockup garage across the road for bike storage which was great. Inside the house, we had the top floor, and up a small wooden spiral staircase, a house full of character, our room on the top floor had great views over the river and town. It has a large living area to sit, with tea and coffee facilities, and a fridge, we just loved the character or the property, the floors and roof slope at angles, and we really enjoyed the location. We were contacted by the owners to make sure we had arrived OK and that everything was in order, we even had a lovely biscuit left for us, which was delicious, we loved the character and setting of the house, and the stairs might not be for those who have trouble with them, but they certainly added to our adventure. Lots of cafes and restaurants around, so finding somewhere to eat was not a problem but if during busier times it would be wise to book as a few places didn’t have any space

Super clean, excellent location, top quality beds, spacious accommodation, tea & coffee facilities, fridge, historical building full of character. Caring host. Would re-book without hesitation and definitely recommend.

Nothing negative about the accommodation itself but I found it puzzling that there is not one food shop in Monschau which makes visitors totally reliant on local restaurants even for breakfast. (I was feeling unwell and the local offerings were unsuitable for me)

We booked the top floor, it was really comfortable and cosy. We could hear the sound of the river, which was very relaxing, amazing views of the town and river and mountains beyond. The accommodation is located right near restaurants, cafes and the Christmas markets, Monschau is a beautiful little town to explore. We loved our stay and wish we had booked more than one night. Our host, Johannes rang after we arrived to make sure we were happy and promptly responded to our text messages about parking

No negatives about the accommodation, the stairs are steep so might be difficult with large suitcases. Parking was very difficult due to the Christmas markets, so we had to park outside of town and walk approximately 15 minutes to the accommodation

The house offers a stunning view of the village. The house itself is ancient and slanted, but that only adds to the experience. The room itself offered all things you would expect from an apartment, including a fully equipped kitchen.

The only downside of such an old house is that it's poorly isolated, so you do hear your up- and downstairs neighbors walking around. But this too is to be expected from an old house - just bring earplugs if you're sensitive for this and enjoy the rest of the experience!

Perfectly located in the heart of Monschau in a medieval building with rooms overlooking the city, castle and river. We had everything we needed including a bar fridge and makeup mirror Contactless check-in was simple and the host kindly called to check that we were all settled in The parking is fairly priced and free overnight

There is no lift and the closest parking is 350m away along medieval cobblestones so avoid a suitcase and opt for a backpack instead

Very good value, great beds, quirky rooms, brilliant shower and an ideal location with an extremely helpful host. just a few minutes walk from the car park, we loved the sound of the stream with the window open and the bells chiming. The only negative was nothing to do with the property, but there are limited choices of food and you need to eat early, 90-95 % of restaurants were not open. Having re read the last sentence this would certainly not put us off staying here again, I would think the Xmas market period would be brilliant, and the Printen the host left for us was fantastic
