Brand new hotel. We got local sweets and treats from Syros as welcoming gift. They have a spa area, wich unfortunately did not try. They have a nice restaurant and a terrace. We woke up late so we did not try the breakfast wich was included in the price. Location is perfect, walking distance to the city center and to every thing that Ermopoulis has to offer.

We did not figure out the AC control, so it was a bit to warm in the room during night. It would be nice to have more towel holders and a price list for the minibar.

- The location of the hotel is one of its great assets. Very polite staff also. - Loved the bed!

- I had some payment issues between booking.com and the hotel. The communication with the hotel was not easy and slow in order to sort it out (for a couple of days, I was calling the landline, and no one answered, except for the emails I sent). - The room we had was next to the hotel's roof garden, which had tables for customers. Exactly next to our window, there were tables. Luckily there were not any customers else it would be noisy. For the same reason (privacy), it was not possible to open a window or have any view.

Such a wonderful hotel, nice design of the room, perfectly located. It is closed to Vaporia and the urban beach, Ciele. The breakfast was so diverse and of good quality. The personnel was also great, looking after us, to make sure we have a perfect experience. As we arrived early in the morning, we have been invited to have breakfast and leave our luggage, until the room was ready (well in advance of the official check-in). We really enjoyed our stay. We truly recommend it.

A wonderful stay on Syros - the hotel was beautiful, clean and full of character, the location was perfect for exploring the town, and the staff were exceptional. They couldn’t do enough to look after us during our stay - friendly, informative and thoughtful. From organising a room for us to rest and change when our ferry arrived on the island in the early hours of the morning, to preparing a lovely takeaway breakfast for our early morning departing ferry. Would highly recommend - can’t wait to go back.

The hotel is beautiful. We appreciated the upgrade and helpfulness of the staff. Location is terrific. Walking distance to main square and harbour and shops. The bed was comfortable. Unfortunately the upgrade room was noisy. The breakfast was amazing, really top notch although the room was a bit 'cold' for morning. Good for a bar for which it doubles. I think they might use the outside room in summer and that would be much nicer.

The room we booked had no chair or anywhere to sit and was very small. The upgrade they gave us was on the back street level and unfortunately right where the motor bikes were parked, so day and night they were coming and going and even with the window closed, which I really dislike doing, we could hear them. And I really mean all hours of the 24hr clock.

A beautiful old building that has been renovated to a very high standard with a contemporary design. Ten to 15 minute walk from the port and a small boutique hotel. Very friendly, welcoming staff - nothing was too much trouble. Great location close to restaurants, bars and shops but very quiet also. A great breakfast was a bonus. Would happily recommend.

I think we had the smallest room in the hotel - which was fine a for a couple of days - but any more than that might have been a challenge as not many places for bags etc. The hotel is located in the main town so there are lots of steps - fine for us and we enjoyed the walking but something to be aware of. Also I would not necessarily stay here for a long time - two days was fine for us. It felt like a city break and nothing wrong with that all but you would need to go elsewhere - as we did - for pools, beaches etc.

The hotel staff are super friendly, attentive, and professional. We had many queries before our arrival, including a missed ferry boat, and they managed all of the changes for us including, staying open a bit later to offer us dinner on our arrival. The room was very nice and well appointed with a Nespresso machine, Shower amenities, and an extremely comfortable bed. The breakfast was perfect and so delicious, including fresh eggs from the owner’s farm. We met the lovely owner during our stay and she greeted us with fresh figs which were also from her farm. The Hotel owner’s nearby restaurant, Ousyra, is on a quaint tree-lined, cobblestone street. We dined there both nights and it was the most delicious food, best service (and value for money) that we experienced on our 14-day Greek island vacation.

Style, staff, cleanliness, high quality design and fittings

Some small changes would make a big difference: - somewhere more to hang clothes in the bedrooms - more hooks in the bathroom to hang things - it seems unreasonable not to refills water and coffee capsules every day. If this is free the first night, then it should be refilled every day.

The hotel is situated right at the city centre, but in a very quiet location. It's been renovated recently so all furnishings are almost brand new. The beds were extremely comfortable. We loved the friendliness of all staff members, who were very helpful giving us information about the island and helping us book taxis when needed. The breakfast was amazing, with a lot of options from an a la carte menu.

The size of our room was on the smaller side, but if you are staying for a few nights, it shouldn't be an issue.

We loved everything about the Castro Hotel, the staff were exceptional, the room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was an endless selection of delicious food, some pastries homemade too. We hope to return again one day in the future as 2 nights weren’t long enough and we’d especially recommend the facial and massage services available.

We would have loved water views but you our lovely terrace made up for this.
