With the museum / heritage of Mei Ho House next door this place is a perfect location to learn more about the "old" Hong Kong (HK) and how people lived in this historical building. The H-block is completely renovated with very big double rooms (for HK standards). Complete with kitchen facilities and a café. Also great location to explore the old neighbourhoods of Cheung Sha Wan and Sham Shui Po. Best traditional HK food is in Sham Shui Po. Two nearby mtr stations to easily navigate to other parts of HK. We love this place.

When we extended our stay with two more days we had to change rooms

We stayed 4 times in Dec/Jan with various durations. In our last stay, we were told the 5th floor room, which we were allocated in the first 3 stays, was not available as they are premium or something to that effect. This is not an issue to us. I just look at Booking.com, and your room options include DOUBLE OR TWIN ROOM (RANDOM BEDDING), and showing 2 SINGLE BEDS. I think this option means a double room could be assigned instead, with a single bed. Suggest the description be changed to 2 SINGLE BEDS OR 1 DOUBLE BED, DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY, if this option represents.

Plenty of food nearby, value for money property. Close to Sham Shui Po MTR via exit B2 (direct linkway thru the subway). Also closeby to Shek Kip Mei MTR. Helpful 24hour counter service, able to put luggage before check in. Laundry and kitchen services available. Need to take off the sheets and pillow cases before you check out.

Room has too few power points. They are congregated at one particular table instead of a few throughout the room. If they are unable to space the power points out, the property should at least try to put an extension cord.

Part hostel, part hotel, the place has been kept up well. It remains pleasant, clean, distinctive. A quiet courtyard in the back. Kitchen, lounge, washer and dryer. Spacious rooms. Fitness hill out the back. The neighbourhood is one of the most authentic in Hong Kong.

Room and bed rates vary, esp. on weekends, that is a little disappointing for a hostel. Breakfast is no longer included, but since it was not much to write home about, it is no great loss.

The room is spotless, shared toilet (inside the room) is also very clean, bed and pillow are comfortable, surrounding has almost everything.

The double decker is abit noisy, if the upper/lower deck guest frequently moving, it can be a nuisance. Also, the room is very quiet so a little noise seems amplified to loud. No complaint on this since this is expected for a shared room. Check in is strictly after 3pm, but can leave bag/luggage with no charge.

The front desk staff was very helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The showers were hot. The breakfast at the cafe downstairs was tasty and inexpensive. The courtyard was nice. The museum and story of the Mei Ho house was lovely and the Garden Hill walk was nice.

The bathrooms in the dorms could have been a lot cleaner. It would be nice to have a bit more privacy in bed, such as a curtain.

March 2024

The room was clean, spacious, quiet, and generally comfortable. The self-served laundry service was good.

The desk in the room was tiny and unfit for work. The room had only a few power sockets, and none near the night stands. The bathroom was closer to hostel standard and could use a nice upgrade. The windows were sealed and the room could sometimes feel poorly ventilated (or insufficiently heated at night).

Room was very spacious and value for money for Hong Kong. Also had separate kitchen so could cook and store own food. Felt like I was living in the real Hong Kong and not the tourist part

I thought there might be a problem with getting to and from the MRT as access was via a subway but not a problem as it was well lit and clean and I felt safe at all times of the day,

It's rare to find such a room size in Hong Kong for such a price. Location is good and you can still find food around in the middle of the night.

There was stain on towel. Cafe used to be open to public. The access is now closed to public and it's even hard for guest to find the entrance. Not managed as good as it used to be.

It was my first stay at my hometown using booking.com. I was quite worried but the check-in is as smooth as from abroad! The room fits our family size and the beds are cozy and clean. The bathroom are neat too! Kettles, slippers and other common houseware are there too. You will notice the hostel is full of art, especially the common area and stairs! There used to have a museum and guided walk at the hostel, it will be good to them reopened soon.

The smell of the room is not so good and windows cannot be opened. You have to look for a solution to clear the rusty moist smell in the first place..
