The hotel is a cozy sanctuary, adorned with timeless Javanese decor and traditions. Unlike many other hotels in Jakarta of its class, which are usually located amidst the hustle and bustle of the business district in Central Jakarta, this hotel is situated in a quieter area in South Jakarta within an upscale neighborhood. Nevertheless, its location remains strategically close to the city’s economic and commercial hub. The hotel’s common areas are warm and inviting, resembling large living room spaces where you can host your friends and family. You can conveniently order refreshments from the bar/restaurant. In keeping with its theme, the hotel’s cuisine showcases local flavors, primarily Javanese, and it is truly delicious! In my opinion, this hotel boasts the best Indonesian food among all the five-star hotels in Jakarta. Another notable feature is the availability of both outdoor and indoor pools. The outdoor pool is beautifully nestled in a shady grove of trees, creating the illusion that you are in an oasis far from the city’s clamor. For anyone visiting or residing in South Jakarta and in need of accommodations, this hotel stands out as one of the coziest options. It will make you feel as though you are home away from home.

We had a difficult time controlling the thermostat which by default was set at a very cold temperature. We live in the northern hemisphere and are used to winters, so it was rather absurd that we felt the temperature was too cold in the room and we were in the tropics. I would suggest asking someone to show how to use the thermostat at the beginning of your stay.

The room is exceptional. Very very big, comfortable, clean, with unbeatable view of the Dharmawangsa's pool. The ambience is so good. The staff is always very nice and helpful. Don't forget to try cakes in their cake shop, I rated the cakes highly, 100% tasted amazing.

I had unpleasant experience with one of the Reception staffs who refused us to have our dinner in the room. Thankfully the manager was aware of this mistake. He approved our request and went to our room in person to apologize. Appreciate the effort.

Friendly staff. Immaculate service. Very comfortable rooms with a lovely fluffy robes and delicious welcoming cakes. Pool area is sublime, tropical garden feel, multiple pools surrounded by tropical gardens. Spa and gym is first class - gym had all equipment, inside spa and pool overlooks the yard. Breakfast was amazing - so much variety from across Indonesia and other nationalities. Very nice to try meals from soy d Indo. Breakfast staff so helpful and friendly. Recommend staying here - it was our splurge before coming home and loved it.

Since it is a hotel that has been built for a long time ago, the number and location of wall power sources and the interior structure may be outdated. However, everything is kept very neat and clean. I don't think it's outdated or old. This hotel is the traditional and classic in so much wonderful way.

The property is phenomenal, rooms are great, the staff is fantastic, the area immediately around the hotel is lovely. The hotel was great about arranging taxies for us whenever we asked. We enjoyed the 2 outdoor pools and the new pool and jacuzzi that is in the new building with a great gym on the 4th floor (mostly indoors, but has an open wall on one side, so you get a breeze, unobstructed view, etc. We traveled with the kids (ages 7 and 9) and my parents and had a great time. Oh, and the food was delicious!!!

The only downside is that it is not super close to a lot of what a tourist might want to see/experience. We took Bluebird or Silverbird taxis everywhere (cheap compared to what I would pay in Los Angeles), but it was almost always 40-60 min ride to go anywhere. However, that's not super shocking given that this is a megacity, with an estimated population of over 11 million people in it!

Best breakfast ever! Freshly cooked Japanese and Continental breakfasts. Multiple choices of Indonesian dishes like Bubur Ayam, Ayam Bakso, Nasi Goreng etc. For the coffee lovers: espresso based coffee is made with a real espresso machine by a barista and not the usual automatic machines. This is what I would expect from every 5 Star Hotel in my opinion. Rooms are really spacious and the bathroom is as large as the entire hotel room elsewhere. The outdoor pool is big and with cool refreshing water. The garden makes you feel like you are in Bali and not in the middle of Jakarta. Location is also very strategic between South and CBD. Cool, new restaurants on Senopati are just 5 mins away. All major malls are 15-20 mins taxi ride away. There is a small mall (Dharmawangsa Square) with supermarket, good choice of restaurants and modern cafes in walking distance. The hotel feels more boutique, family run and not like a big intl hotel chain with mass production. After 1 day all staff knew our name. In a city like Jakarta, with all the noise, traffic and madness, The Dharmawangsa is your oasis where you can recharge and relax. We were always very happy when we got back to the hotel.

We just love the way the Staff at the hotel greet us with : welcome back to your second home. The Dharmawangsa is indeed our favorite hotel in Jakarta. The large green outdoor space makes you feel like you are not in the middle of one of the busiest and most densely populated cities on earth. This was our 4th times staying at the Dharmawangsa and we will always come back. Ary, the barista always makes good V60, the breakfast is amazing, the swimming pool is fantastic, and on top of all that, the hospitality is top of the tops.

Rooms are not well kept, stains on the carpet and walls. walls need painting, rooms starting being outdated, needs maintenance. Rusted amenities etc. Not a 5 star quality in this sense. Furniture getting rusted or broken. Pity for such a great hotel

The facility was great. The service was fantastic. The food in both the Asian and the Japanese restaurants was great, room serves was fantastic, ready to meet my requests immediately, punctual in my wake up call service. The staf members, namely Mr. Ariobimo, Mr. Basly, Mr. Steven and Miss. Lucky were fantastically courteous, hospital, warm in their welcoming, respectful, supportive, professional in their skills and always reflect blithe attitude in their behaviour. They deserve promotional recognition whenever the opportunities arise. All such qualities surely stem out of the strategy of the hotel management and its successful criteria for selecting the hotel staff and supporting staff members. Good luck.

Compared to the other 5-star hotels in Jakarta, The Dharmawangsa's location, it's lush green ground, spacious room with extra-high ceiling design, and it's quiet surrounding (the rooms are not exposed to the traffic sounds) are features one can't find in Jakarta. Service, food quality, facilities, and cleanliness are at par with its high-end competitors.

My colleague who is a vegetarian struggled to find anything suitable on the menu at the hotel's restaurant. As pointed out in the other reviews, occasional wear-and-tear was indeed noticeable. At times, I felt that the hotel was under-staffed to keep everything tidy, in order, and welcoming to the other guests, especially when the hotel hosted events (wedding, work meetings, or big work dinner).
