Freddies is an exotic, South Pacific-style resort with some of the best beach on the island. The place is very popular with locals, and has a great restaurant with lots of tables and a wide assortment on the menu. The room I had is done up in bamboo (or rattan) and is smallish, with a good queen-sized bed, a fridge, basic and functional bathroom, shelving to put away things, fans (no AC), good electrical, hot water and wifi as well. The windows overlook the scenic beach and palm trees - a really nice balcony are also included. Staff is excellent.

The beach has great sand, but depending on the tide, it may be mostly rocks. The resort is great, but has become overdeveloped, with too much crammed into a small space. The room is not very private due to the noise and smells from the restaurant below and ongoing construction.

Lovely people, good restaurant, lovely little beach out front! Freddie checks in with all his guests and adds a little personal touch. We were there with friends and their baby (<1). We were very well looked after and Freddie's was forthcoming in all our requests. We took a tuctuc island tour with Happy (tuctuc driver) through the hotel and it was great! I also went diving and my friends went snorkeling all of which could be arranged at freddies for good prices.

We started in an economy room, we should have spent a bit more as we moved to another room after one night. It was infinitely more comfortable. It was a bit too hot in the econ room. There was an incident with some pants at the laundry service but this was resolved adequately.

Beautiful location, right on the beach with amazing snorkeling in the shallow waters (water shoes recommended for getting in and out)! Family room were large with a great view over the water. The staff were so helpful and kind. They were always looking to improve their service. Restaurant was great.

Everything was good. If you are expecting 5* luxury you might be disappointed as the rooms have a characterful and rustic feel rather than being the height of luxury. It would have been helpful to have a list of prices (e.g. snorkel hire) in the rooms or at reception.

The wonderful view of the beach! We arrived early, and we were allowed to have early check-in!

The hot water from the shower wasn't working at first. It took the staff about 2 hours to fix it. At first, they promised to get us another room if the problem couldn't work in 30 mins, but they just kept fixing it. Luckily we booked two rooms, so we took turns taking a shower in another room. The walkway is VERY slippery, and each of us almost fell at least once!

shower head - water pressure quite slow for shower head, so i think a smaller shower head size would be better toilet door lock - it quite rusty and my friends are lock twice from inside, luckily they managed to unlock the toilet hahaha

The room was big, overlooking the sea. It was such a calm feeling being able to sleep through the night with ocean sound accompanying you. The sun rise view from the room was breathtaking. We enjoyed the beach, the water was clean and clear and there were little distractions as it was a private beach. Appreciate the staff hospitality to make our stay an enjoyable one.

The location is definitely one of the things that we didn't like. And since it has been raining almost everyday, it was difficult for us to get around the island. Therefore, we spend most of our time at the resort. We were also saddened to find out that Freddie was not at the resort anymore. As he was the reason, we wanted to stay at the resort again for the 2nd time, despite the location of the property. We missed the breakfast buffet and dinner meals prepared by him and his team. For repeat guess, don't expect the restaurant to serve you the same quality of foods. That too has changed.

The staff at this property are all great! They all go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Not forget the view from our bungalow was great, you can even heard the waves and it was so calming. Will recommend to everyone who are willing to travel to Sabang, Aceh!

No iron in the room, the towels not so clean and the dinner service at the cafe/restaurant was bad. We had to wait almost 2 hours until we got entertained by the staffs. I believe this property can improve their services!

Freddies Sabang was such a beautiful location, breathtaking views, clean and comfortable villa. The staff were very helpful and very welcoming. The restaurant was also fantastic, such beautiful views, a huge selection of food of different cuisine and reasonably priced.

There was an issue with hot water in our original villa bathroom but the staff immediately came out to investigate the matter, and when the issue couldn't be resolved within the time of our stay (due to parts not being available), they offered another (even more beautiful) villa for us to move to!

We had rooms in the bungalows overlooking the sea; a spot a bit like paradise! you overlook the walkway which is also entertaining as lots of people are coming to have their pictures taken. It's all extremely charming. The rooms are simple so this is not for people who are looking for luxury. It's clean but my kids had some ants in their rooms. The restaurant is fabulous. It has lots of levels, the food is great, the view incomparable. They loaned us snorkelling equipment.

Not much. You are a little way from town so you have to get a ride. There's not much to see in town except a good market. The snorkelling is not amazing at Freddies - but you can get a ride to spots that are unbelievable. Be sure to get a room that faces the sea. There are a lot of rooms behind which I assume are quite cheap but would be a disappointment as they have no sea views.

What a view! Very nice spot to chill out. Book a room with ocean-view, otherwise you can better choose another accommodation. The Western food at Freddies restaurant is amazing and great value for money. Freddie himself, who sold the place to the Chinese but is still managing the place, daily makes a great breakfast buffet and is very hospitable and friendly. Felt very welcome!

Freddies appears to be a popular 'TikTok' spot, where Asian tourist just go to make a few pictures of the view and the pizzas. I did not always feel very comfortable while being at the beach because it's very likely that you end up on someone's Instagram or TikTok video's ;). It's totally fine to be the attraction as a western person outside the accommodation, but within the accommodation you should feel safe and comfortable to dress and be like you are.
