I liked the resort, is even better than pictures! The pool is clean, beautiful and has sofa stones in it! Such a dreamy place! Every room has space outside to do some yoga, workout and hang up the clothes for drying. There are a lot of butterflies during the day and frogs during the night (don’t worry because you will not hear them from the room during the night, they are just a beautiful asset when you go for an evening walk around) Is just near the beach, and you can see it from the room.

I believe they need to isolate better the rooms downstairs, too many millipedes come inside, especially when is raining a bit.

We stayed at Mario on two occasions on this trip, once at the start and the end. It’s 20 mins from Tambulaka airport and is the perfect place to start to unwind and for preparing to complete a wonderful holiday. The staff are friendly and kind. The rooms are clean, well-considered and comfortable. Book the sea-view double, you won’t regret it when you wake up to the wide expanse of the sea outside your window. It’s right on the beach so you can enjoy the sand and expanse of salty sea, or lounge by the pool which, while some have noted looks strange in colour, but is cleaned every morning and is a saltwater based. Fantastic cos’ it’s great for your skin without the harshness of chlorine. Food is delicious. All in all, Mario is small enough to feel like home and still clearly a very well-maintained and cared for hotel.

Mario Hotel could not be in a better location! From the beautiful pool area you can walk down the steps and you are right on the beach. The beach is incredible, so clean and untouched and there wasn't another person in sight so very relaxing. The staff are so friendly and helpful and we were able to rent a motorbike and basic snorkeling gear from the hotel. Our room had great AC and was clean and comfortable. I would 100% recommend Mario to anyone visiting Sumba.

Our first room unfortunately had an active wasps nest in it, but the staff were quick to fix the problem and promptly moved us into a new room with an even better view of the ocean!

Pool, beach, lovely plants and ambience. Nice staff. We love this place. We will be back.

Need locks on cabinets in the bamboo rooms number 2. Need better lock on bathroom door. Shower water falls too close to the wall. Just these few small repairs would make a big difference.

Good food (homemade French fries and fruit crepes are excellent!), nice staff, peaceful location, beautiful sunsets, great beach, good place to see the stars without too much light pollution, great pool

Laundry service damaged a few of our clothes ironing, so be careful with this

The place was amazing. You have everything you need for peacefull stay at Sumba. Clean rooms, nice pool, beach and also food from restaurant was pretty good. Och, and staff was very nice :)

Good, clean rooms with all the necessities, for a good price in Sumba. The location is nice, Rua beach around the corner. Antonio and the staff are helpful with the airport pick-up, motorbikes and they will serve you the best food in the restaurant.

Huge place, basically empty when we arrived. The staff is very helpful and considered all our requests - regarding food, renting a scooter, and even booking a massage. The pool is big and has nice submerged sunbeds. The views from our room are stunning!

The beach is beautiful, but there are lots of stones and steep waves - a bit tricky to swim in

The room was quite nice and very comfortable. The staff is very helpful. The property is beautiful with a nice beach out front. The restaurant is basic but well priced.

The pool was dirty, needs chlorine.
