It feels totally isolated and deserted. You hear noone and nothing when the restaurant is closed and everyone has gone home. The room, which seems a renovated outbuilding is very spacious and well appointed. Good aircon which is needed during the hot months. It is nice to sit outside in the bar area, and chill. You have a full view of Castel del Monte at all times.

Because we do not speak Italian, the welcome was very unclear. We did not know where/how to check in and were taken to the wrong place to have a bite to eat after a gruelling journey. It is not clear that there is a very expensive restaurant, plus a bar where they serve snacks and light foods. Breakfast is fruit and cake, apparently standard in Italy. We could have done with some comfy seats outside our room rather than uncomfortable cabaret chairs.

The Montegusto property is beautiful with an amazing of the view of the Castel. The rooms are updated and spacious. We appreciated the quiet and privacy of our stay. Although there was a language barrier with the staff for breakfast, it was delicious and such a wonderful experience (they knew it was our honeymoon and gave some great words of wisdom).

We wished the property had all the amenities that are mentioned when in peak season. Unfortunately, we were not able to use the bikes and the restaurant was not open for dinner during our time there.

Great location. Room was great and stylish. Equipped in all required elements. Perfect breakfast and tasty espresso!! Friendly and very helpful staff.

Absolutely gorgeous location. Amazing, unobstructed view of Castel del Monte. Dinner is an absolute delight. Sit under the the stars and look up to see Castel del Monte magically lit at the top of the mountain. The restaurant is exceptional. I'm STILL thinking about the lemon cheesecake! It's also a destination for the locals. We were there during the England/Italy soccer game (which was a *VERY big deal). The restaurant (and practically all of Italy) were closed. They let us order some sandwiches and buy a bottle of wine. We sat in the outdoor dining space, watching the match and eating under the stars. It was lovely. The security manager and his wife (and dog) and the resident cat were all so nice! Stephania is the manager and she's a dream. She helped us book a ticket to visit Castel del Monte (open for visitors at assigned times due to the pandemic). My handbag and credit card had been stolen at a beach near our previous masseria, and when my replacement credit card didn't arrive in time, she actually coordinated with UPS to have it delivered to out next stop in our itinerary. After all that commotion, we of course left a bag of gifts, which she's sending along as well! On the other side of the masseria, there is a more casual space for breakfast, lunch, cocktails. It's not to be missed. Breakfast and coffee were so relaxing with a different and equally lovely view of Castel del Monte. Locals show up for breakfast, midday coffees and of course Apero. Morning/day staff was wonderful. Of course I'm forgetting the name of the lovely gentleman who ran the breakfast/lunch service. He's the nicest person. Getting my bag and credit card stolen could have ruined our trip, but Stephania was so helpful and the property so beautiful, and the staff was so exceptional and professional, we barely thought about it. This is a beautiful location, but the staff and management are what makes this place so special.

This was an exceptional property. I have no complaints.

The location is fantastic, just below Castel del Monte (about 5 mins away by car). Restaurant is great, very good food (and wood fired pizza too), at normal prices and normal sized portions, in beautiful surroundings (outside with the castle in the background). The restaurant is only open at night. The bar is also very nice, popular with the young and fashionable of Bari/Barletta, and a decent breakfast we served there too. By the way, you can drive up to the castle and park even if someone tries to tell you the road is closed, to send you to another car park much further away - say you are going to the Taverna Sforza (they have a car park next to the castle for €3).

The only issue was the lack of any shade or sun umbrella for the table outside the room - no shade at all during the day, and too hot to sit outside in summer. You have to go to the bar area instead - but this is not a problem.

The room was very clean and comfortable, the owners and staff were so friendly and helpful. Our breakfast was amazing! You can walk from the property to the castle. We will be back!

The restaurant/food was very good - some of the best we had i our 2 week in italy. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were clean and comfy.

A nice place to stay for 1-2 nights and see the castel and the surroundings. It was very warm, so we did miss a pool. If there was one, you could stay longer.

Absolutely beautiful. So well designed. Bar had a fab vibe in the evening with lots of locals. Very chic.

Beds were maybe a bit firm.
