We are a family of 4, parents (50's) and teens (16 and 14). The location was fabulous, in a walled castle on top of a hill with beautiful views. The patio where we dined for dinner was spectacular. This is a real castle and the interior decor is fantastic and authentic. Our kids loved exploring the town. Breakfast had a good cold selection. We stayed in July when the outdoor temperatures were very high and the A/C in the rooms worked perfectly! The hosts were lovely - Elena is very efficient and Niki warm and friendly.

The beds were very firm (we stayed in the pink room and yellow room), so that might not be for everyone. The hosts could maybe add some feather bed or memory foam toppers to add some cushion. And another thing to be aware of is that there are lots of stairs and a steep climb up from the parking, it was not an issue for us as we are lucky not to have any mobility issues, but might be challenging for some.

Superb location and an amazing property to stay in. The castle and hamlet were like something out of a movie set and the inside of the building made you feel like you were in a time warp. We were in the pink room which was at the top but not the best of views - the green room has better views. The bathroom and shower were spacious and in good working order. Elena and Nicola were fantastic hosts and did their best to look after us. Our evening meal was also excellent quality and the service provided by Nicola was commendable.

The A/C was too noisy to be kept on during the night - I just couldn't sleep with it on so we had to leave the windows open. Breakfast was sufficient but could have had a little more variety however, Nicola did cater with gluten free options which was appreciated.

One of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed in. A little castle town that not many people seem to know about. There’s a little restaurant with amazing food and a balcony with the most amazing view. I’ve stayed here a few times, once in one of the round tower turret things which was really amazing. Twice in regular rooms. Nice owners.

The water pressure in the shower was weak and there was no air on (can’t remember if the turret room had). There was a fan but it was so hot in August. This is still one of the best places you could ever spend a night or 2 in though.

The castello is stunningly beautiful. It is quite a drive to get there, but definitely worth the detour. The staff was very communicative and most helpful in making a restaurant reservation for us. The rooms (ours were in an adjoining but still very historic building) were beautiful, large, with nice views. The breakfast in the main castle building was delicious. We much enjoyed walking the grounds and the streets and squares encompassed in this very large castello. It was also nice that we were able to drive up our car into the castle because one of our members was mobility-reduced.

It is a bit difficult to find the actual " albergo"; there are no signs. Oddly, even some locals outside the castle did not know where the albergo is located. So here is the info: It is inside the castle, and then on the right side when you reach the first square.

We stayed for one night on our way further south. The castello and it’s surrounding buildings are lovely. The little church is beautiful. There are no cars in the castle vicinity so car parking was in the free area at the bottom of the hill. Fine in early May, but might be a problem in the high tourist season due to day trippers. I think I read somewhere that one could drive up to unload. We drove up initially, but couldn’t find the hotel entrance, couldn’t even find the actual hotel, so finally parked in the car park and walked up with cases. Even then we had to ask where it was and even the came up against a locked door! Our room was across the square in another building, which we were expecting, but meant walking in the rain for dinner and breakfast. The room was lovely, with kettle and mini bar and enough sockets for charging without having to unplug other things, very important as I have rechargeable hearing aids. The en suite was fine, although the shower was tiny and my husband had difficulty. Given the age of the building I accept there has to be comprises, but could possibly have managed something a bit bigger. The restaurant is a stunning room and dinner was ok. The breakfast was good. There are other places to eat though. We found cheap petrol on our way out to join the autostrada. This is a lovely place to stay and I have had it on my list for a couple of years, but our travel dates have never coincided with the days the restaurant was open.

The hotel and entrance are very difficult to find. The castello is obvious, but for a first time visitor it is difficult to see what is hotel and what is not. The shower in the room was tiny. The shutters on the windows in the room couldn’t be closed without closing the windows, which gives you the choice of air or privacy, no curtains.

The experience was so unique and maybe even once in a life time! The castle is beautiful, views from the windows - whether to the inner courtyard or to the valleys around - are fantastic. Rooms where you stay and common areas on each floor are furnished with real ancient pieces of furniture and it’s like you are actually in a medieval fairy tale - like in a museum except that you can touch and use everything. Room and bathroom were clean and well equipped. Even cosy bathrobes provided. Breakfast was good with savory and sweet options, wifi worked fine at least for leisure things that we used it for. Very nice and welcoming hosts. We booked a suite so we stayed in the actual old castle building. I think cheaper rooms are in the annex attached to the castle but that would be still inside the castle walls. Oh and it’s not only a castle here within the walls - it’s also a tiny village with 7 people actually living here ;) There are even a few restaurants and cafes here.

The mattress was not super comfortable and shower water pressure a little weak - but hey, living facilities in the 11th century used to be way way worse :p

Come on! We slept in the top of the turret in a 11th century castle! Crazy! We had everything past the gang plank from the main castle. Living room on one floor, full bathroom on the middle floor and a queen bed under the peak. Great value great stories. And I slept well too. Breakfast was good down in the castle.

We were late arriving and our host was a little grumpy, She was still grumpy the next morning. Our son was relegated to the Annex which is outside the main gate from the castle. They should have a key to access to the main gate on those key rings as well. That is where breakfast is served.

Driving through the stone walls up to the castle was like driving into a dream. We were greeted by the friendly hostess at the door. Staff showed us around the main “public” areas and then up to our room. We stayed in the pink room. The pictures online do not show just how amazing this room was. The bed was comfortable, the shower in the bathroom was lovely. The view from the many windows took my breath away. We had a delicious late dinner paired with the best wine I have ever tasted (a local wine - we were provided directions to the vineyard). Breakfast in the morning was fantastic- there was a wide selection of food to choose from (including gluten free options). The castle dog (Odette) is exceptionally polite. She greeted us with quiet sniff, but was not intrusive. However, once we took the initiative to initiate playing with her she was a joyful, happy new friend. I loved the exterior courtyards. There were small stone nooks with benches,a fountain, pomegranate trees (with delicious ripe fruit) and the view across the hills was breathtaking. This was a magical stay.

At first it was hard to find as the hotel is INSIDE the Castle and ths signs say "no vehicles". A phone call solved this and we were able to drive-in to unlioad baggage. WOW, what a place, a real castle. I will go again as it is aspecial place. Breakfast was very good for Italy. Parking nearby.

The hotel Restaurant was cliosed but there is another within 100M which is very good. The room was a little 'tired' but it is in a casstle!

Extraordinary place. Very beautiful, very comfortable. A real ' pinch me...we're actually staying here" kinda place. Views are spectacular

Restaurant wasn't open while we were there which was disappointing. Having said that, there are two lovely restaurants mere steps away.
