The bed was very comfortable, but be careful when entering the lower beds, I bumped my head a few times.

I didn't like that I was asked to write my resident card number on the check-in form, even though I'm a permanent resident in Japan. By law, it is not required for residents who have an address in Japan to write their passport or resident card numbers. It's discrimination because they don't require this from Japanese citizens. I don't mind showing a hostel or hotel my card, but I refuse to let them make copies of such a private document. If everyone (including Japanese citizens) was required to do so, I would oblige, but this was not the case. I'm glad it was sorted out in the end.

The living area is very cosy and people are friendly. I think this is largely due to having long term tenants who make the space feel more like a home. Lockers are big enough for a bulky backpack with space to spare.

The beds, lockers, luggage storage and bathrooms are close together but in a narrow space, so it's hard to re-arrange without being inconvenient to others. I found it a little difficult to organise myself quietly in the morning in order to get the right things to take outside to the shower room. There's nowhere to hang coats/towels.

The staff are very friendly. The living room is a good space to eat, meet new people and relax. The kitchen is small but it has everything you need. The WiFi is good. Big lockers, with a padlock provided. If I were to stay in Kitakyushu again, I would definitely stay here.

I recommend for people to explore the area by foot and experience as much as they can in the nearby surroundings. On certain days, this guesthouse also becomes a very social place to meet other fellow travelers. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Feel free to ask the staff for recommendations on where to visit locally.

Perfect location right in the middle of Kokura. Around 10 minutes by foot from Kokura Castle as well as Kokura Station with lots of shops and restaurants in the area. Another aspect I really liked is the early check in (11 a. m. if I remember correctly)

Perfect location, just a 5 minutes walking distance from the main station. Helpful and welcoming staff.

It is not a big issue but on the floor of the dormitory there is only one bathroom which is not enough but there are two more bathrooms on the upper floor, so it is managable.

Appreciate the bigger lockers, bidet, etc. - has everything you need, especially laundry being included.

Hard to find (just go up the stairs of the building and then it will be obvious). Common room wasn't the fanciest but it had everything necessary and was comfortable enough.

Cheap options (the cheapest in Kitakyūshū for sure), minimum equipment, and good amenities.

For some people, it may look a bit old or too simple but mostly OK, I think.

Location is very convenient - close to Kokura station. Friendly staff and good kitchen/living room area.
