The staff were amazing. Both our kids got sick during our stay and staff were fantastic! They helped us get appointments for them (one of them at an after-hours a&e) with English speaking doctors. Always friendly and helpful throughout our whole stay. We stayed in a connected family room, which was extremely spacious for our family (3 adults and 2 kids). Laundry in each bathroom was helpful for those late night sick kiddos. Daily general clean and towels were appreciated.
Location was very good and close to the Nijo Castle. However, it is far from train/metro stations (10-15 min walk to the closest one). Very handy bus nearby (2min walk) to take you to Kyoto station directly, but not very convenient if you're carrying luggage (best to send with a luggage delivery service ahead of time).

Location - there were many buses we could take nearby that took us to tourist spots. The property was also walkable from Shijo Omiya station, Karasuma station and Nishiki market. There was a 7-eleven nearby and a LIFE supermarket, which we frequented. Cleanliness - the room was spotless and the washer in the room was a life-saver on a long trip. Staff - the staff were extremely helpful and detailed. They gave us a printed map and info sheet with areas of interest, and also helped us arrange for luggage delivery. Will definitely stay at Mimaru Kyoto Niko Castle again!

The facilities were very good. This includes comforty pillows, quilt and beds. 2-in-1 washer and dryer also works very well (liquid detergent also provided). The staff were very helpful and friendly - there was even bingo for the kids. My kids really love the floor to ceiling floors that allowed them to look at the roads. And we were near to bus stops which made travelling easy. Cleaning (changing bins) and new towels were available daily. There is a street nearby with supermarkets and dessert cafes. There are 7-11/lawson and Nakau (24 hour udon shop) nearby. Also just a note to get there with big luggage is to get a cab from Kyoto station. From hotel to Kyoto station was 1800yen and was way easier than getting luggages onto buses.
The space is smaller than the Tokyo Mimaru we were at before.

Excellent hotel with a charming apartment in a convenient location. This is an ultra modern hotel and apartment. The washing machine looks like a space capsule and the toilet is ultra high tech. But the apartment itself has a sense of traditional Japanese style to it, including being super efficient in its layout. It's small but never felt cramped. Very clean, comfortable and fast internet. Location is very convenient - obviously next to the Nijo Castle, but the bus stop outside the hotel has routes that are very convenient for tourists. You are also a short walk from the Bamboo Forest tram, though I wouldn't recommend it (overrated). There's a 7/11 *and* a Lawson supermarket just up the road. The staff were super friendly too. Oh and there's a roof terrace on the 11th floor too and you can see all the way to the Kyoto Tower. We really enjoyed our stay.
Not sure if it was an issue with the hotel or just noisy neighbours, but we could hear their kids screaming and banging until nearly midnight one night. Not loud enough to keep you awake, but an irritant all the same. The bus route is very convenient, but that also means it is popular - it was always full. You might want to take a taxi to the station if you have big bags; the bus even has a sign inside saying "no big bags" because of all the tourists, but nobody pays it any attention. Taxi is not too expensive at about 1000-1500 yen.

We loved the bunk beds/bath as well as the kitchen that had stove/microwave. It was walkable from Shijo Omiya Station and Nishiki market too. We loved that we were further away from the central area and got to see these little shops/eateries along the way. There is also a rooftop view that gives a beautiful view of Kyoto both day and night. The cleanliness was great and the staff were amazing! A printed map was given and explained to us (: also loved how they have a little activity for my kid to do and she thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in Kyoto.

This was our favourite hotel from our stay in Japan. It was the largest room with the most high tech facilities. We loved having a dining room table to eat at. The roof top gives a beautiful view of Kyoto. The location was in the middle of a few different train stations that we needed to go on and was only 10min walk from Nijo Castle which we visited on the day of our arrival so it was nice not to have to go far. Some might choose a hotel closer to Kyoto train station for less walking, but the walks to the train stations were interesting and lots of dining options around as well.

Perfect accommodation in Kyoto if you want to stay few days in a place and want the semi-comfort of a house. We were 2 adults and 2 kids. We had a room with the tatami mat and the teenagers slept on futon. They loved it and it was super comfortable. When the futon were folded we have plenty of space to sit down and have tea. It was nice to have the washer/dryer in the room allowing us the freedom do our laid in the Morand coming back in the afternoon all dry. I have noticed that NOT all the Mimaru hotels have the washing machine in the room. Some are in the common area, which is still ok but make it very complicated. We spent all days out and never came back until 9pm so having the washer/dryer in the room made life very easy
Everything was great

Loved that there were bunk beds so the teens didn't have to share a bed. Loved the in-room laundry and the well stocked kitchen (dishes, cutlery, hot plate, kettle, fridge/freezer). We also borrowed a toaster oven which was handy for breakfasts. We also learned that the buses are easier/closer than the subway in Kyoto. The front desk staff were above expectation - very friendly and helpful.
We found the beds a little hard for our personal preference. The sliding partitions were a lovely decorative accent but sometimes in the way of a functioning space.

The staff were very response via email responding to my queries prior to check in and the check in process was very smooth and the staff were very helpful with enquiries. The room was very clean and had cupboard space and room space to fit our luggage needs. It was excellent having a washing machine to wash and dry clothes and if you felt like cooking, they also had a cooking stove. It was great to have a separate living room area. The apartment was about 30 minutes walk to the centre which we didn’t mind as we enjoyed walking, however, the buses were very convenient and can take you to Kyoto Station within about 10 minutes. Lots of convenience stores nearby which was handy for necessities.
The bathroom was cold and didn’t have heating so it would have been ideal to have some heating during the winter.

We liked the location although it's not in the typical tourist areas. Buses to the tourist attractions are easy to catch from a bus stop very close by. The neighborhood feels very nice, clean, orderly. There are plenty options for food within 1km walk away. It doesn't feel touristy but very local. Super nice and helpful staff. The room is super clean and nicely fitted out. Great for anyone but definitely for families. Loved the in-room cooking/dining facilities, as well as the washing/dryer machine. It was super helpful to our family with two young kids.
