Alison and Steve the owners are amazing, friendly, caring and go the extra mile. Our stay at Alton was comfortable, homely and clean. Our sky box in the room wasn't working, so Alison and Steve tried all of their ones and ended up spending a couple of hours in our room trying to fix it. If you are ever in Whakatane make Alton Lodge Motel your accommodation, you won't be disappointed. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Alison and Steve for a memorable stay. Best of luck on your next adventures, you are such amazing people.

The staff were absolutely amazing. We had a booking change at short & they were able to accommodate an extra person by providing an extra bed in our room. The room was clean & tidy, & beds were super comfy. I've stayed in few hotels & motels all across NZ & this place has the fastest internet which was a real bonus. The hot water shower pressure was also really good. There's also a lovely pool onsite which the kids enjoyed. Location is very handy, you're walking distance to Pak n Save, restaurants & take away shops. All in all one of the best places we've stayed in NZ. Highly recommended.

Overall great but Smokers right outside your room.. smoke smell comes straight through your windows as they are not fully sealed.. no designated smokers area should be seperated if possible.. you can't leave door or windows open if smokers are outside Also lights are too dull at night.. especially in kitchen and lounge area.. if those issues can be fixed would give 10 out of 10 score

Alison is amazing! So lovely and inviting. I had the best time in Whakatane and having accommodation that had everything I needed was so convienent especially as I came from overseas. Alton is close to 2 petrol stations, bustops, 3 fast food joints down the other end of the road, and a short jaunt to Pak'n'Save. Central to all and close to the gorge to nip over to Ohope. 100% recommend staying here if you are looking for value for money. There is also an indoor pool so you can let the kids run wild inside without worrying baout them getting scorched by the sun. Nga Mihi/Merci Beaucoup Alison and whanau. I will be back again, hopefully with my Husband this time =)

Lovely staff, great room, aircon, oven, small fridge/freezer and tvs both upstairs and downstairs. Shower pressure was great. Use of indoor pool was amazing too 😊 Great family friendly place to stay. Close to takeout, grocery store, 24 hr petrol station & shopping center.

Beds are a little uncomfy, Showers could use an upgrade but besides that amazing!

Lovely clean rooms, bed linen clean and crisp. Comfy bed. All the amenities of home. Older model motel, but still loved it. Having an indoor pool was a bonus. Nice friendly staff. Even though on the main road into Whakatane, it was still quiet, couldn't hear traffic noise. Definitely would come back here.

Very friendly helpful staff. It was cold weather during our stay but we were pleased that we had electric blankets on the beds and a heat pump in the unit to keep us nice and warm. It was also great that we had a kitchenette with a stove to cook on .

The lighting in the unit was'nt the best. It took awhile for the lights to brighten up . It could have used bigger lights.

Very clean and tidy, hospitality was very welcoming, we were able to block off the stair case for my younger son with cerebral palsy.

The downstairs. But that was my fault for not double checking. If you have kids with mobilty disabilities, i wouldnt recommend for safety reason as the bedrooms are down stairs.

Very nice place. Clean and tidy, super friendly staff. Perfect spot in town, close to shops, gas stations, fast food shops, whatever you needs just down the road. Overall really enjoyable stay.

Carparks a bit small so definitely best for cars but can make it work for trucks.

We stayed here while attending the ANZMRL Kōtiro Tournament over in Rotorua. Great accom and hosts. Fave feature was the Shower, was top notch, room sizes were just right. Only thing we didn't get to do was swim in the pool as we would arrive back in Whakatāne too late. Which was a bummer as that was a draw card when choosing Alton Lodge. Next time!
