From the moment we arrived the service was exceptional. We'd cycled over from Gois across the mountains so were hot tired and dusty. The reception team were very welcoming, we were checked in and shown to our room and were able to take our bikes to the room too. The rest of our party chose to use the basement bike room, they were very impressed by the service they received there as well, the ebikes were put on charged and locked up securely for the night. I had a massage in the spa which was of a high standard and just what I needed. I recommend having dinner in the hotel restaurant, we booked a table and spa treatments by email the day before we arrived, quick and efficient response straight back from the hotel reception team. Our dinner was exceptional, great food and attentive service. One of our party is gluten free, and they were extremely accommodating and happy to make any changes required to the food. A truly excellent and enjoyable stay, 5 stars all round with the level of service from all members of staff being the absolute winner. We will definitely be returning to this hotel.

In all honesty, this has got to be the best hotel in Portugal (and Europe) I have been to so far - and I have been to many. I’m be happy I chose it as a getaway place to celebrate my birthday. The hotel: incredibly beautiful building - the historic palace carefully preserved. the rooms: we have been to two rooms and they are immaculate - I especially liked the absence of dusty carpeting and beautiful wooden floor. the decor is amazing and the room is filled with sweet extras like summer hats and honey-based exfoliation lotion. the breakfast: fantastic, with tons of options to choose from, especially if you are on a no-sugar diet or have any dietary restrictions. they even serve champagne for fixing some morning mimosas:) the spa: it’s small (6 persons tops) but really beautiful, with a shallow pool, ice bath and a sauna. the staff: absolutely outstanding, welcoming, warm and no request was left unanswered. they made us feel absolutely at home and made my birthday even more special of a day. the restaurant: great food, especially the local specialty - the deer stew. we didn’t try the outdoor pool but it also looked very nice. for those with a car, there is a big parking lot nearby which is marked as belonging to the hotel on the maps.

The hotel is located in a charming town that is not touristy, which makes the place even more special. The hotel is spacious and its facilities allow a variety of activities for couples and families with children (Bicycle rental, outdoor and indoor swimming pool, sports bag with fitness equipment). The staff service is out of the ordinary. They are nice and kind and will do everything to make the guests comfortable. There is a restaurant in the hotel. The breakfast there is great! There is ample free parking. There is a magical, authentic and cozy common living room area where you can sit for coffee, read a book, or just enjoy the background music and the atmosphere. The hotel rooms are divided into an older and newer area and the newer area is more recommended.

There are older rooms that face the street sidewalk (low window) and it is less intimate. Because the guests do not feel comfortable opening the window, the rooms are not ventilated and the windows felt as if they had not been opened for a long time and were dusty. I should note that as soon as I asked, they came to clean and ventilate. I would emphasize that these are older rooms but equipped with new and comfortable beds and a renovated bathroom.

The room was clean and comfortable with a nice view to the mountains. The living area are in the first floor is really nice, you can seat there to read, talk or relax. Location is perfect. The ladies in the reception was super nice when we did the check-in.

The breakfast was good - however there are some points of of improvement like: - Scramble eggs - would be better to have them done at the time and not in a "casserole" all compacted - - The place where the crepes and mini pancakes are located (they provide a pile of them in a single plate for you to grab the quantity you need) should have a lamp above to keep them hot. The rest all perfect :)

Beautiful building, lovely area. Wonderful staff. Attractive restaurant, walking distance to other options. Easy parking. Very nice sauna in the spa. Great soaking tub in the room. Memorable mountain views. The little gratuities like delicious local tea and honey scrub were a nice touch, I felt very pampered.

I couldn’t use the beautiful pool due to excessive chlorine (went in, skin started stinging, got right back out) which was a shame. A saline pool would be a much better option and align better with the emphasis on health. Unfortunately kids running loudly up and down the hall over and over quite late into the night interfered with sleeping! Perhaps there is a kind way to encourage guests to be more considerate?

The restaurant's menu could be better/more diversified [perhaps have 2 restaurants, a simpler one in the winter garden and a more tailored experience in the old room]. The wall in the bathroom [superior suite] needs a window or some art form as it's quite boring to look at when going from the room's high ceilings, wood, etc. But it's not the end of the world.

The staff was wonderful! So friendly and hospitable. We felt welcomed here the moment we arrived. Special thanks to Liliana at reception. The room was amazing -- huge! Comfortable 4-posted bed. Fantastic bathroom. Also, the common rooms on our floor were beautiful. Wonderful spaces to sit and relax. Quite elegant, in fact!

The food at the restaurant wasn't the greatest. . . could have been better. I recommend the burger! But the staff was fantastic and made it okay!

The entire service team was superb! They were always smiling and super helpful in accommodating our needs. We were also super impressed with Iryna and Volodymyr who provided us with incredible 5 star service in the on-site restaurant during our breakfast and dinner service. It’s these individuals who greet you everyday with a welcoming smile and good conversation that are the reason why our family members and friends choose to stay at this property. oh wow, I almost forgot to mention my incredible 80 minute massage session. it was amazing! We hope all who read our comments will feel the same after they have stayed here! Obrigada !

Beautiful renovated hotel located in perfect location to walk in forest, to castle, to schist villages. (We parked at castle for the Schist village walk but can walk from hotel.) Gorgeous grounds for families and adults. Wonderful pool area (only 8 chairs but still okay). We'd stay here again and try other Octant properties.

Breakfast was very good - everything you could want. Breakfast service was very nice, kind people. We had a bizarrely bad lunch at the restaurant and did not try to eat there again but it seems they were short handed and the regular cook wasn't there. (Hint to the hotel don't open on those days.)

This hotel is super - we had a wonderful stay here. The staff are sweet and charming just like the hotel itself. The breakfast was lush and full of many options. The rooms were spacious and welcomed us with delicious honey cookies as well as a homemade honey scrub for the shower.

We arrived on Valentines Day and did not know it would be necessary to book at ANY restaurant in the city. This would have been helpful to know - bit also not the hotels fault at all. But as strangers to a new town it would have been helpful for suggestions.
