This place is an absolute paradise! The entire property is dreamy and the concept really well thought. You can see it in the details, its design and decoration, and how it feels in perfect harmony with its surrounding nature. One of the things we enjoyed most was the outdoor pool, always with perfect temperature (I mean it was also pretty hot outside so anything cool was perfect) the birds coming down to take a sip of the water and the little space the owners created to stargaze, which we did and even saw a shooting star in the company of the many fireflies. Breakfast was filled with typical bread, cheese, yummy granola and overall bio/regional food! We chose the Room with the oversized bathub and we were pleasantly surprised for how big it truly was in person. One can fit there perfectly stretched out, making our stay even more relaxing. It was never a problem that we did not have wi Fi, because we were looking forward to the peace and quiet, which we had. The owners were AMAZING, extremely nice, always concerned, polite and gave many useful reccommendations. We were also offered with perfumed Bath salts and because we are tea people, they were so kind as to lent us every night their kettle! Thank you for everything. We couldn't have asked for better and even got a bit teary eyed when we left. One of our best experiences so far.

Textures and tones harmonise, creating tranquillity and elegance. It is not ostentation but an understated grace—a quiet confidence in its authenticity—that defines Bode. And then, there are the hosts. To call them hosts feels almost reductive, for they embody something deeper—custodians of kindness, choreographers of comfort. Their presence is not imposing but attentive, weaving themselves seamlessly into your experience with a selfless generosity that feels rare in today’s world. They anticipate your needs before you know them, their care evident in the small, considered gestures that linger long after your departure. At Bode, you are reminded that a sanctuary is not just about walls and objects, but about the feeling it evokes within you. It is a pause in the chaos, a place where time seems to stretch and soften, allowing you to reconnect with the rhythm of your own being. Bode is a soul—a space where beauty, thoughtfulness, and humanity converge. To stay here is not merely to visit a place but to inhabit a moment of peace, one that will resonate within you long after you leave.

My room was spacious, clean and mostly comfortable. The bed linens were a bit scratchy (not soft) and the pillows were super firm. The bathroom was large and spa-like. There was an unpleasant smell in the shower, and I suspect the raised wood shower floor makes it difficult to clean the shower properly. The property is a renovated farmhouse, and the owners have taken care to preserve many details and charm of the old farmhouse. The surroundings are beautiful and tranquil. The location is a bit remote and requires travel down a long, very narrow path between rock walls to access the property. Nearby restaurants seem to be limited to one, O’Carlos, which was out of many menu items including white wine and was not very good. I would definitely not recommend eating here. The owners of the property are pleasant and accommodating.

We spent three wonderful nights staying at Stefano and Christina’s idilic country hotel. Bode is within very close proximity to the historical town of Monsanto. We were able to easily explore the area and always felt happy to return to the spacious and impeccable accommodations at Bode. We stayed in a room upstairs, with stunning views across the area - perfect for watching the sunset. The bed was very comfortable and all linens and towels were top quality. The bathroom was beautifully designed with a great deal of space, a shower and bath. The entire establishment is simply and very stylishly designed, while placing comfort first. We enjoyed the infinity pool on hot days and loved the history of the hotel which was a converted farm, with rooms that use to house an olive press, grain mill and wine cellar. Stefano and Christina were kind and knowledgeable hosts and made us feel very welcome and cared for. Bode is the accommodation of choice in Monsanto. We will definitely be back!

That we did not stay longer.

Everything. The property is impeccably designed. The location takes you back in time, set in a remote village but is easily accessible by the roads. The rooms are comfortable l, and have excellent amenities. The owners are very hospitable and make every effort to allow you to enjoy your stay. We went in summer but I can see how it would also be amazing in the winter! I hope we get to stay again.

There is nothing not to like. Just make sure to call 24 hours ahead if you want to have dinner at the hotel.

This renovated stone structure into a beautifully appointed 8 room boutique hotel was perfection! Such a relaxing setting looking out to a gorgeous infinity pool with olive trees and unobstructed landscape for miles. Stefano and Katarina were lovely host. They went out of there way to make our stay one of the best stays of 9 location. We didn't make reservations one night and texted them out on the road and they found us a lovely restaurant in the next town over. You will not be disappointed!!

There is nothing not to like!

A peaceful heaven, beautifully integrated in authentic nature. The views are stupendous! For us it was an instant relaxation with all modern amenities. Taking a shower with a view on the boulders and olive trees, watching the sunset from the bed or stargazing from the terrace was a bliss. The best breakfast we had in Portugal with local products and (delicious) homemade cake. Stefano and Catarina have been amazing hosts. No doubt we will be back for longer next time.

Everything was so clean and very traditional chic. Loved the way they took a ruin and incorporated into a lodge. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be coming back to this hotel once it’s warmer to use the pool.

be prepared to drive down narrow roads to get to the property but so worth it

Everything. Stefano and Katarina went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Showed us how the place was reconstructed from having been abandoned for 40 years. The renovation was outstanding, every detail was thought through. Really modern but still true to the original design. A true heaven at the end of the (very narrow) road.

No internet in the room.

Bode Country House is a beautiful B&B in a wonderful setting. The hosts were so warm, inviting and accommodating. Attention was paid to the finest details. Even the place settings at breakfast were perfect! And it is near Monsanto, which is an amazing village to visit. Strongly recommend!
