Over the past 20 years I have stayed in many guesthouses in South Africa, including a few in Somerset West. 5 Rembrandt was easily the best experience I’ve had – anywhere in SA. The accommodation was everything one could hope for: well appointed, nicely decorated, spacious, well maintained, efficiently serviced, and comfortable. Our room also had air conditioning and heating available, something often missing from SA guesthouses. 5 Rembrandt has extensive provision to offset load-shedding, making the stay even more comfortable when the power is off. Two of three other guesthouses we accessed had no provision for load-shedding, which made things quite inconvenient for long periods of time. The setting is beautiful, whether looking out over the lovely landscaping and koi pond or the secluded pool area. The guesthouse is secure and has beautiful views of False Bay and Strand from the entryway. Jenny and John are gracious hosts who took great care to be helpful and friendly without being unnecessarily intrusive. They were promptly responsive to the few requests we had, and certainly went the extra mile to ensure that we were having a good stay. 5 Rembrandt is well worth the stay. We will be returning from the US as often as we can.

We arrived after 21h00 due to unforseen circumstances & the host was very upset with us & whatsapped us she wants to go to bed because she has a bussy day ahead. We did let her know about our late arrival.

It was neat and clean.

I liked the fact that the room was private, neat and offered everything that you need such as air-conditioning, tv, small kitchen or wash-up area, shower and bath.

Pristine accommodation. Crisp, clean and tastefully decorated. Out two adjacent rooms, separated by a fully equipped kitchen was perfect for our needs.

Amazing quality facilities given the simple nature of a lodge stay. Incredible housekeeping, the cleanliness was outstanding. Thoughtful touches throughout.
