Lots of character, beautiful old building, lovely views, on the Midlands Meander. Lovely pub and restaurant. Our waitress Nomfundo, who served us in the pub and restaurant was excellent. She was very friendly. She made a fire in the pub at our request. Anne, the manageress/receptionist was also very friendly and helpful. The dinner was very tasty and good value for money. There were many breakfast options available to order from an a la cart menu. Suites are spacious, have patios and fireplaces, with plenty of firewood supplied.

Dinner is from 17h30 until 19h30. Last order 19h00 /19h30, which is far too early. I booked 2 suites for the same price. One room had a comfy 2 seater couch and a king size bed, while the other had 2 wicker chairs and a double bed. (This room, no. 6, did not look like the photos I’d seen when I booked.) The bed was comfortable however.

Lovely quaint and charming inn, with a wonderful little restaurant and attentive staff. Our room was spotless and spacious with a very comfy bed and good linen. We loved the fire place and comfy seating area.

There was not much not to like except the TV was very out of date and tiny with very little selection to watch. No complimentary water in the room and the bathroom although very clean and spacious could do with a revamp.

Beautiful, peaceful and tells a great story. Historical property, boasting old school charm. Our room was spacious with a fireplace, perfect for the cold Midland's nights. Complimentary welcome drink. Toiletries provided. Clean and big swimming pool in good proximity to the rooms. The property is impeccably clean. Food was absolutely divine with portions so big,we could not finish our meals. Exceptional service by the whole team. Highly recommendable. Thank you Clinton and team,we enjoyed our stay.

Can do with a few touch ups here and there,to the couch, cupboards and bathroom. A suggestion, to please supply drinking water to the rooms. I made contact three times trying to request an early check-in but received no response.

We love the history of the place. The staff was friendly and accommodating from arrival till we left. Dinner and breakfast were of very high quality, tasty and good value for money. The apple crumble for dessert was baked to perfection and we love the chef. The bed was very comfortable. The fireplace was lovely as it was very cold. We will definitely use Halliwell in as our regular stop over on our way to the sea.

The bedside lamps were not working effectively, but that is understandable it was due to long hours of load shedding. The amenities were fantastic, just which they had some tissue available.

It’s a typical old fashioned hotel with all its features and eccentricities

We stayed in the valley room 1 - the entrance and exit point was very muddy due to rainy weather- they could do something to stabilize the ground either with cement struts or even gravel or chipped bark so vehicles are given traction to get into their entrance - we had a off-road vehicle which made it easier for us to navigate through the mud

Friendly and attentive staff. Large room and bathroom with sufficient towels. Clean spaces. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Beautiful grounds with horses at the back. The fireplace is such a great feature.

The WiFi was available but weak, unfortunately. It also would have been good to have cleaning products for the bath tub instead of having to wait for housekeeping.

From the time the booking was made until we left everything was excellent - questions were answered clearly, clear pre-arrival correspondence was sent, check-in was smooth, rooms were big and comfortable with added extra touches, breakfast was great and staff were attentive but not pushy. Also in a lovely location with well-kept historical buildings.

If I had to complain it would be that the rooms veranda wasn't clean (cigarette ash on the floor) and the drinks at the bar were on the expensive side.

The staff were so great. The food was homely and lovely. Breakfast was great as it is included in the rate which is such good value . We stayed in a triple room but it was big enough for a family of 4 and we had so much space. Really loved this place. Been here a few times

The cake from tea time was not eaten so it would have been a nice idea perhaps in the evening after dinner to offer the cake to guests as an added bonus. Not sure if the cake was given to staff etc but to add to guests stay might be an added little bonus

A lovely country setting with a great view and character. Good restaurant and good food . Excellent breakfast and big comfortable rooms

Lots of character but lacking ambiance... just needs some welcoming personal touches , lighting, fires and a bit of warmth A bit Spartan and neglected, huge potential with a bit of TLC and personal touches Overpriced for what you get

Room lovely and spacious, loved having a bath and a shower, dinner was good on both evenings and lovely atmosphere with crackling fire.

Electric blankets on the luxury rooms are almost a must, secondly playing music in the dining room is really unecessary, if it is going to be played then soft instrumental rather than screaming vocalists.
