Great birding, beautiful grounds, chalets are well appointed and the staff were very helpful and efficient. In spite of being disappointed by the lack of a hot tub we enjoyed our stay overall.

The biggest disappointment was that even though the name says hot tubs not all accommodation has hot tubs. Ours didn’t. The online booking can be amended to make that clearer. We were very disappointed about that. A small issue that can easily be fixed was that on arrival the intercom at the gate did not seem to be working even though there was no load shedding, we had to phone to be let in

Beautiful views. Access to a pool, a short hiking trail, a dam that you can swim in (you can also request ores to row around a bit, and fishing gear, all free). There is a nice viewing deck (ask how to get to it at reception). Our chalet was stunning and private. Hearing the birds every morning is awesome. There is also a really nice tub. The kitchen has a nice oven/microwave and a two plate stove. It has everything one might need (even a bread tin and cupcake pans if you feel like baking). It has a real forest cabin feel to it overall and we had a great time.

The braai spot at our chalet (Heron) was at the bottom between some bushes. It is cute, but we didn’t end up using it because it was a bit claustrophobic. It just didn’t feel as secluded and didn’t have the view the chalet had. But it is still cute. On the booking it would be nice if it said which chalet you are staying in and if it has a hot tub. I took the cheapest option (so I wasn’t expecting a hot tub), but I think that should be more clear when you book.

My friend and I can't get over the tranquility that we experienced at Thunzi Bush Lodge. It really exceeded our expectations. The staff was very friendly and welcoming more especially Mr Vuyani, who went an extra mile to make sure that we didn't lack anything, from starting the fire for our braai, sight seeing and many more, he was just willing to assist. The Lodge is so lucky to have him, he gives the best service.

I liked that the chalets were isolated you couldn’t hear anything from other chalets, the place is so tranquil and we had anything that we needed for a self catering chalet, the staff was super friendly and were a phone call away.

we came across spiders in our chalet and when we checked under the beds it was full of dust and you could tell they had not been swept for months. maybe cleaning properly and checking under the beds for insects should be done before guests check in.

In 2007 I won the award for the "Women of Distinction Pick a Pay and Algoa FM". The main price was n weekend for 2 at Tunzi Lodge. It was amazing at Tunzi Lodge and I always think back with fond memories. After 17 years I was privileged to go back and spent one night their with my 14 year old Son. So...so special!!!! Hart memories. Tunzi Lodge is the Gem of PE!!! Dr Marietjie van der Merwe

We visit Thunzi as much and as often as we can. We live just down the road, but as a break way for myself an my fiance this is our place. We would even like to have our small and intimate wedding reception there June next year if possible.

Granted we were allowed to check in a little earlier than we should (thanks as always), but Reception didn't open the gate for us so had to use Emergency number. At reception we waited for about 10 minutes to check in. Had to phone to eventually get a hold of someone. Room had no teapot which we normally enjoy very much.

Prime location for us. We came from Mossel Bay, picked up our son and his dog in Quberha and drove 29km to our destination! The tranquillity of the area and the seclusion of every chalet in its own little sanctuary, is sheer delight. To be able to do a bush walk and a stroll on the beach on the same day adds to the uniqueness of this destination. We will definitely visit again in future.

Our only complaint was the lack of a cork screw! Wi-Fi feed inconsistent but that is par for the course anywhere in SA unfortunately.

Literally everything. The fresh air and being surrounded by nature was breathtaking. Our plan was to have a relaxing time and that’s exactly what we got to do. Waking up to the sounds of birds chirping was so soothing. I enjoyed the hot tub the most and my fiancé enjoyed the pool the most. We enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend.

Honestly there wasn’t anything that we disliked.

I liked that it was easy to find. The staff was very friendly and no hassles. I loved the serene and tranquil environment. We had everything we needed. And place was very clean and cosy

Visit was too short to actually enjoy the facilities. Didn't see the barge at the river that was mentioned, only disappointment.
