What a surprise to find this original little boutique hotel - not trying to pretend to be anything it's not and very quaint with original features and decor to suit the era. Sadly it was raining so we didn't get a chance to use the pool which looked lovely or wander around the gardens which has white roses in bloom. The shower water pressure was amazing - best we have had so far in South Africa. Wifi was great too despite others rating it low. Beautiful cafe just a few minutes down the road and lovely menu for dinner and brekky in the hotel. Bookings.com had not communicated our change of date so they expected us the day before but they quickly sorted a room for us.

perhaps could do with a little maintenance like the ceiling in the bathroom but other than that everything was great.

The room had a weird old smell. The entrance gate had to be operated manually. The place was a bit stuffy, but I did mention to the receptionist that the windows need to be opened a bit as it can be stuffy. I did not really like the location as there is nothing in the town

I have stayed here many times in the past 3 years and have always been very comfortable and well looked after

WiFi has deteriorated since my last stay and for a self-employed entrepreneur who needs to be able to work this is a real downside

Breakfast was tasty with a fair variety Setup and the natural environment so healing. Got to buy from their wine range😍 Staff was so lovely and welcoming

Water takes longer to warm up, you have to run hot water for long before the warm one

We battled to log on to Wi-fi. It kept saying the password is incorrect, but in fairness, there was loadshedding and that could have been the problem. Outside light did not work- which made it spooky to arrive back at the cottage during loadshedding.

What a lovely hidden gem, the garden cottage was so cute and a very comfy stay!! We also ate at the restaurant and the food was good, would definitely recommend!! The staff even helped us out late at night when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cottage. Thank you so much!!!

Most beautiful Guesthouse. Been staying for work and only stay there when in Riversdal. Oh my gosh. Their Breakfast, continental forsure.

They should get better plug points. I always bring my own plugs and leads. Loadshedding .

The staff are friendly, and the facilities are really comfortable. We have stayed there on many occasions, and I can only recommend the experience. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and there is a strong feeling of care.

The guest house was in a quiet street that had the charm one expects from old places. Ranco was exceptional. We will definitely go back on future trips.

We had booked a suite and it seemed a bit small. We went into the one next door to us which would have suited us perfectly When booking out we were told that we had the smallest suite but could request for a bigger one next time. Also Ranco served the meals and also received the guests, which left us waiting to pay for dinner and waiting for our hot section of breakfast (approx 15 min wait).HOWEVER the place and friendliness made up for the waiting ⭐️

Lovely old school hotel and gardens. The rooms and linen were very comfortable. The restaurant dinner was delicious and a pretty setting.
