Oh my goodness the FOOD...We arrived at 8pm and it was absolutely freezing the long weekend of 24th September. There's absolutely no way we're cooking at this time and the kitchen was about to close. The chef made us the best food we have had in a long time. For me specifically, I was speechless because the fish and chips placed in front of me have never been made anywhere else whether Sandton or any other restaurant I'd been to. I cleaned my plate and to this day I miss that fish😭

The geyser in the first house didn't work and the temperature had dropped to freezing that weekend. My person took a cold shower and had to take meds to avoid a fever. We were moved to the next house ...stove did not work. Also, it's creepy having the pool in front of the dining hall...lol

The friendly staff were pleasant and welcoming. We felt at home. The unit was clean. They went all out to take care of the guest needs. I'm not the one for thatch roof units but I will go back to this lodge. The wood is well protected, oiled and vanished to prevent the unplesant smell and splinters. The roof is netted to prevent objects and large insects falling over you while sleeping. They have an aircon, TV and fridge in the room. They also have good cabinet space for the not-so-light traveller. I loved the king bed and the fresh white linen. We also enjoyed the dinner and breakfast meals. It was amazing to see the buffalos, kudus and ostriches right outside the units in the afternoon.

Spacious, private, and comfortable accommodation. The backup generator system means that you don't have to even think about loadshedding, which is refreshing. We didn't use the restaurant so cannot comment on the food, but the bar had a wide variety of quality wines, that are competitively priced, so it really wasn't an issue for us that we could not bring our own alcohol. A very lovely bonus was seeing a large herd of buffalo visit the waterhole near our room one evening. We really enjoyed our stay and the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Definitely recommended.

No real negatives. We arrived after dark, which made driving the long road from the gate to the lodge a bit hairy - but if you just organise yourselves better than we did, all should be fine!

Lovely game lodge. The accommodation was spacious and well appointed. The dinner was really good as well as the breakfast. Loved the open space

The staff did not explain much. When we arrived I was straight away given the menu opened to the mains page to order but given no information on how it worked. Ended up paying an adult price for my 8 year old because I didn't know there was a kiddie menu and was not even told how much the dinners cost or that dessert cost extra. And would also be nice to have an option for Ala Carte for breakfast especially for kids. Again, cost me a R150 for my son to eat some fruit. So I feel although the food was good it was way too expensive. Ended up costing me more than the accommodation

The place is peaceful, food top notch

Massage was extremely bad. The spa room was untidy, and the gown and slippers were not clean. The ladies who were doing massage were not professional as she was seen performing other general duties e.g. cleaner at the lodge, the massage service was very bad. Everything the oil smells bad and oil were forced to take bath afterward..

The lodge is a bit off the main road, but the small efforts are worth it. From the main gate you have to drive another 5 km to the lodge, but once arrived, you find a stunning place. The spacious main house with the restaurant is nicely decorated and the cottages are just beautiful. In the early evening lots of animals came to the small water hole right in front of us. We saw many antelopes (Elen, Kudu, Oryx and Springbok) and a huge herd of buffalos. The beds were huge and comfy, WiFi worked pretty well and the breakfast was good.

Actually no complaints. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was okay, but totally overpriced - maybe by mistake? We paid 280 Rand each for a hake filet and pork chops. The manager told us, that all main courses cost the same (280 Rand). But how can a hake filet or pork chops cost the same as a T-Bone Steak? So please check the dinner price before you order your food!

This lodge deserves the very high ratings it obtains. We watched a herd of buffalo and eland at the very close-by waterhole during sunset. I regarded my car to be safe when parked overnight.

We would have liked to have been met by the owner or manager. A 'butler' checked us in. The location of the lodge is off the direct route between Upington and Pretoria and the gravel road to it is quite rough for standard sedan cars. Luckily I came in my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The manager/ranger/field guide/host was amazing. He is very well informed & professional and took us on a game drive that was a learning experience for us. Also did a great job as host. It was my husbands birthday and I requested sparkling wine & a welcome platter in the room upon arrival. It was great.

The chef can do better. Breakfast was cold and had to be sent back. Ordered soft poached eggs, they were hard & served with a split Hollandaise Sauce. and a mere half slice of toast. Handwash in the bathroom would have been nice.

The environment and the lodge itself and the staff complimented everything inside it, they were very lovely and helpful .......to rap it all we wanted to unwind and our tour guide to the animals, gave us more than what we expected and you could see that she knows her story and love what she is doing. I would like to come back with my family next visit

I would be lying if I can say I did not like anything, in a nutshell nothing I was over the moon

The entire staff was very friendly, always ready and willing to assist. The quality of food was very good and the chef equally friendly. The rooms are very spacious and lots of game onsite.

The common wall spiders. We are scared of spiders and because of the thatch roofing, there was a lot these spiders, very unsettling for people less knowledgeable about them.
