This was a quite extraordinary place in a very difficult to reach location but well worth the exciting mountain roads. The buildings are remarkable and the views are exceptional.

Weirdly we had to make our own beds up from the sheets provided, this was unusual but no great hardship. No soap or shampoo was provided which is unusual considering that this was not a cheap place to stay There was a lot of food for the breakfast buffet, but this meant that the queue lasted half an hour because of the large number of visitors, all filling their plates to bursting

Really quiet hostel, big communal kitchen where you can cook your own meal. It's clean and located in a beautiful place. Nice hiking trails around it. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch, it was simple but it did the job. You get a discount to the Mirador restaurant and a free entry to the Cathedral, also a nice plus.

The wifi is not great. I guess you come here for other reasons but it makes modern traveller lives much easier. I would appreciate the possibility of an earlier breakfast, 8 is quite late and I had to skip on the last day in order to catch the first cable car back. This is a small detail tho!

It’s very basic but very comfortable - loved the no noise - only bird song - this is a very special area and the accom reflected that - lovely lounge area to make yourself what you want and quiet area at night to sit. Breakfast ok for continental.

Check in was stupid - only because I had a foot problem and did not want or need to walk unnecessarily up to the main hotel to go and collect keys but they were happy and resourceful there. Apart from they have got absolutely nothing in their first aid box- shameful. I was after a simple plaster! This is not a place, to be falling sick! Doctor not around much .

Fantastic location, amazing history and great walking trails around the monastery. Good breakfast provided by the property. Free access to the Cathedral and Madonna and discounts on a number of other activities and shops/restaurants. Parking was a little distance away but once you take your parking ticket at the entrance the security people will allow you to drive up to the hotel and book-in/drop-off bags before returning to find a parking spot (about 10 minutes away). Don't forget to get your parking ticket stamped by the hotel for a further discount (we paid €8.50 for 2 days). Recommend you read other reviews as this will provide answers to most of your questions.

Everything was great

The location was perfect to visit Montserrat. Everyone was friendly. Basic lodging, but more than we expected for a hostel. The room space is used in a smart way to accommodate a family of 4, and includes a table with chairs. Shower was large. Breakfast and dinner offered in the same building as lodging. Dinner options were great. Breakfast offered breads, donuts, pan con tomate, cereal, cold cuts/cheese, yogurt and juices.

Better directions for parking and how to get to check-in desk should be provided. We had to ask a few guards about where to park because the entrance is blocked off. I also wish they offered eggs for breakfast. Something to know is that you will need to make up your own bed - all linens and towels are provided. Bring your own soap.

We couldn't be more happy with our stay. Smooth check in process, very friendly and kind staff at the reception desk (we had to check in at the main hotel building, not the albergue itself). I am very grateful that we got a room earlier, my mom was pretty tired and this literally saved our day. Wonderful small but functional room on 5th floor facing the mountains - we could enjoy birds singing, nature sound and stunning views. Albergue building has exceptional common areas - from beautiful spacious lobby with cozy sitting areas to huge common space with the kitchen and sitting areas. Common areas is well planned and pleasant to look at. Rooms and floor halls are simply designed, but this is something expected at albergue. Really good buffet breakfast was included in the price - freshly baked bread out of oven, sandwich toppings, jams, fruits, cereals, good coffee... I can say our stay exceeded my expectations. Spending night at Montserrat is the best way to experience this marvelous site, especially with the good and affordable accommodation. There were not too many guests at the night of our stay, which made our time there even more special. It was quiet and very tranquil. Note, you have to make your own bed. This was fine for me and expected in such place, however, I can imagine some people can me unprepared.

Soap in the room is the only thing I could ask for 😁 I forgot to bring mine and this was a bit inconvenient.

The location was perfect for our purpose of hiking in the hills/mountains and the history of the monastery and the black Madonna. We stayed at the hostel which was basic but very clean. The restaurant onsite was excellent both for breakfast and dinner.

There was no onsite parking due to space limitations but we were able to drive up to the hostel to unload and load our luggage. Public parking was available offsite at a reasonable discounted cost. This was a minor inconvenience as we didn't have to drive anywhere anyway.

Location is perfect, opposite the entrance of the basilica complex. Lovely views out on to the square below. Place was clean and staff were super friendly. We stayed as a family 2 adults and 6 children. It worked well and would stay again.

The hallways between the bedrooms are in need of paint. No air conditioning but windows allowed air flow. Not the hostels fault but good choices are limited on site, when I go again I would have a big lunch before arriving so you can snack for dinner. Having 6 fussy kids to feed was my problem!

You can't beat the location. This hostel was clean. We had a room with 2 bunk beds and a private shower with a sink with a separate toilet room with a sink. Breakfast was included and very good. The quiet evening and early morning in Monserrat without the day crowds was priceless.

Each bunk had a light, which was good. However, there was a blue light to indicate where to turn it on. That light was so bright right over your head. I had to use a sleep mask.
