We had a pleasant staynand this hotel has so much to offer. We stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and they kindly offered a complimentary anniversary cake. The duplex rooms are very spacious and clean, which added great value to our stay. They also offer various activities and we went on a hike. Although it was challenging, the scenic views were well worth the climb. The guide who took us on the hike was excellent and explained everything along the way. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to enjoy nature and serenity.

I think the à la carte menu should offer a wide variety of options.

Occidental Paradise Dambulla is a true nature lover's retreat. Nestled by a serene lake and surrounded by lush greenery, the calm atmosphere is perfect for relaxation. The spacious villas are a delight, offering peace and privacy. The staff is helpful, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience. Food is delicious and reasonable.

With minor improvements, this property could truly shine. The air conditioning can be quieter, cleanliness could be enhanced, and spa staff could show more courtesy. Small upgrades will unlock immense value, elevating the overall experience. Despite this, the hotel’s tranquil setting and natural beauty make it a wonderful getaway.

This hotel has been the best in every possible way, the property the amazing service, the food. It’s way more than what I expected. The management Mr Dibusha and Mr Ashan along with their amazing staff specially Champika, Ishan, Sanuja, Chef Mr Fernando (I missed out few names, as I couldn’t remember them all they all were beyond great and helpful) went out of their way to make sure our stay was taken care of and provided so many complimentary services. The spa, pool, rooms and restaurants all were beyond my expectations a beautiful land with lushes greenery. The whole entire staff are sure everything about our stay was taken care of and was kind enough to arrange for a run til ride for excursions felt taken care of so very well in every aspect. The food variety was great and so many exotic fruits from Sri Lanka were available which gave us the opportunity to taste so many local flavors. I feel this is best hotel in all above mentioned ways that I’ve been to. I visited the r property as I was holding a retreat for 4 ladies, they made sure that everything was taken care of at all times and was really safe too. Thanks to everyone in the hotel had the best get away so far. Mr Dinusha’s management skills shines through everyone in the hotel. And you get to see beautiful wildlife like peacocks, monkeys and more in the property which is also a great experience. All in all so very well greatful to everyone in the hotel for making it a wonderful experience.

Nothing at all, nothing to complain of.

What we liked most: - the feel of a little paradise in the middle of nowhere; - high standards in accomodation: the full teak house with a great veranda was spacious and had excellent airco and an excellent bed - high standards in food and drinks: the buffets of chef Fernando and his brigade are truly excellent; both western and sri lankan food. Very attentive to his guest (as all staff is); specific requests are no problem - high standards in facilities: the gardens are kept nicely, the pool is kept clean, whole range of activities is offered (also for kids) - the staff is very welcoming, friendy and always there to help; they helped us with tours to the Dambulla Cave Temples (10min drive), Sigiriya Rock (15min drive) Minneriya Safari; saw 75+ elephants (40min drive with safari jeep pick-up) and Polonaruwa (90min drive).

Something we didn’t reallly mind but you have to realize that you are quite in the middle of nowhere, fully dependent on the facilities of the park; going to a supermarket is a small trip… The only thing that was a bit annoying, was that the Booking discount on f&b was constantly missed; for a park that is part of the Barceló group, I expect that their systems can handle that; and if not, don’t offer it. But in all this was just a minor nuisance, not affecting the excellent stay

I had an exceptional stay at Occidental Paradise Dambulla! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcomed and comfortable. The room was immaculate, beautifully designed, and had all the amenities I could ask for. The attention to detail in every aspect of the hotel’s services was impressive, from the seamless check-in process to the delicious dining options. The scenic views at the hotel made my experience even more memorable. A special shoutout to the F&B department for their outstanding hospitality. They truly embody the essence of excellent customer service. The restaurant staff deserves special recognition for their friendliness and professionalism, which made my stay all the more enjoyable. EBI: It would have been even better if the restaurant staff were provided with uniforms or attire that aligned with the hotel’s elegant vibe. This small addition could elevate the hotel’s overall standard and enhance the dining experience while adding a sense of pride to the team’s excellent service. The property is very tranquil and a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. We enjoyed the pool. The beds in the duplex unit were very comfortable. Although we had booked only the one duplex which had one big bed and two smaller beds, the team at the hotel were nice enough to offer us a 2nd room as we had 4 adults in our group. There were also a range of outdoor activities made available to us. Make sure to take proper shoes to enjoy these!

The spread at the buffet could have been a bit more considering its price, however most of it was well put together.

Large hotel still using small single use plastic toiletry bottles in bathrooms, and 500ml plastic water bottles in the room and restaurants. This is well behind the sustanable tourism curve. The lunch al a carte menu could have been improved and speeded up a bit. Caesar salad was totally wrong. No-one at Spa the whole time we were there.

This hotel complex is a fantastic getaway for solo or family, to use it as a place to totally feel emerged into Sri Lankan culture. Also large enough for groups. The chef in charge leads a team of chefs do food excellent! The staff are so welcoming and would do anything to ensure your stay is beautiful. There is a very clean and long pool with trees surrounding and monkeys! I came with my son and stayed extra days.

Very friendlyand helpful staff. Made our stay very special. Specially chef Aruna who always made sure we were okay in the buffet. And also Mr Feroz who has a nice smile. Alot of variety in the breakfast buffet. One of the biggest I've seen. Big rooms.

Room should have more lighting (we were upgraded to a quadruple suite from the double room we booked). Please take care of the dogs who bark at night.

Service; The staff were wonderful, all very pleasant and welcoming. Rajitha and Dilini in the restaurant were lovely and very accommodating. With the current situation in Sri Lanka there were power cuts to reserve energy, the staff called me to inform re the turning off power to ensure I was ready (e.g had hot water). Power was always restored before night fall Room; the rooms was great and had everything I needed. The room was beautifully clean and spelt wonderfully fresh every day. There were a couple of damaged floor boards under the air con, but the hotel are actively renovating rooms duration off season (screens are up so guests are protected from the works which is great) Facilities; the pool is lovely. The spa was brilliant- a lovely massage. There is a pool bar, main bar and pool pizzeria all closed during off season.

The restaurant is brilliant, great value for money, however, you are reliant on the hotel for food - with Dambulla Town 20 minutes away by vehicle with the nearest food places.
