EVERYTHING. 1- The hotel is amazing. Very quiet. 2- The food is really good and not too expensive. 3- The rooms are like a dream come true. 4- The swimming pool is big and you can easily go to the beach. 5- The best was the staff, from the recepcionist (who was really interested in learning some Spanish and always available for us) to the waitresses. We had the suite, with the large terrace, directly on the beachfront. It was simple amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room service can be arranged by whatsapp. The menu and drinks have enough variety for 5-6 days. The beach is very quite and beautiful. Highlight was diner at the beachfront. Also, the spa menu gives your some good options for relaxation.

Only minor remarks. Unfortunately, breakfast does not have that many options. Going into the sea is possible, but the sea is rough and it is not advised to venture too far in. At around 10 p.m. (after diner) you don't have any options to go for a drink or walk into town. That is OK, since it is an ocean retreat, but if you want to experience more nightlife, you should choice differently.

The name hits the nail on the head. It is a proper OCEAN RETREAT! Very quietly located right next to the beach. The rooms are outstandingly well designed so is the rest of the retreat. It feels extremely cozy. Built in 2017, the property is very well maintained - feels brand new. In addition, the staff is a 10/10! Outstandingly friendly and very helpful with whatever request you have. Since every staff member is always smiling, it was an ease for me to feel welcomed from the first minute. Prices for drinks and food are (obviously) higher than in the restaurants in Sri Lanka‘s cities but still very fair. I can recommend the vegetarian rice & curry as well as the pancakes for desert. Breakfast is also good. Although I haven’t planned it yet, my next trip to Sri Lanka will definitely include a few nights at Lankavatara!

Just something to be aware of (not necessarily bad): this is a place for some quiet days off the grid - activities are limited and mostly comprise of relaxing at the beach, jumping in the pool (or the rough sea) or visiting the Kalametiya bird sanctuary.

We stayed at the resort for 9 days and fully enjoyed our time there. The hotel is located a little away on a fantastically endlessly long beach. The rooms were nicely furnished and clean. The service was excellent and the staff were all very courteous and helpful. You can have excursions, taxi rides and all other wishes organized through the hotel. We visited the Yala and Udawalawe National Park from here. It was also easy to rent a scooter and make the area itself unsafe. But be careful with the buses, they drive quite impetuously. Many thanks to the hotel. It couldn’t be better.

Staff was super friendly and helpful, especially the manager, very nice guy. It was also super welcome (++) that I could add some extra food (free) to my breakfast since the portions were bit small for me, this was the biggest plus for me. Next to that the rooms looked amazing and super clean. We had a very pleasant stay.

The hotel owner was continuously walking around the hotel and was busy with relocating furniture and maintaining the property, however, she did not even say Hello. This was a bit strange to us.

We booked initially 9 nights. After the first night, we decided to extend till the end of our holiday. The place is amazing in thousand ways: location, accommodation, service, food. All criteria reaching the maximum. The beach is kilometres long, clean and deserted. You cannot swim in the ocean, but the waves and the colours are spectacular to watch hours. And than the place itself - it is a small, boutique resort - only 16-17 suites with simplicity of the design, jet with attention to every detail and luxury execution and furnishing. We stayed in an Ocean view suite, which was very spacious and comfortable, allowing quite of privacy and amazing view. On top of all this - the service is excellent! From the reception, to the cleaning and maintenance - everyone was professional, friendly and smiling! And at the end - the restaurant - we simply did not want to search for another place - the quality of the food, the service, the furniture, the view - simply a dream! I strongly recommend the place to everyone, who looks for quiet and jet luxury holiday on the beach!

A small and a very beautiful hotel that is located in a really quiet and relaxing area. The area is very safe too. They had a very clean and comfortable rooms. I liked the architectural design of the rooms and the hotel in general. They also had a nice restaurant that offered several options for lunch and dinner. The staff were very nice, friendly and made sure that the guests have their needs met.

Was surprised to find other properties around the area that offered same quality for a lower price. Wish they had more vegetarian options that are high in protein for breakfast.

The location is very nice, the hotel is situated on a private beach, staff was extremely friendly (especially Maduraga from the restaurant was super friendly and always with a smile). Very comfortable chairs on the terrace.

The hotel feels outdated, therefore overpriced for Sri Lanka. It almost gives you this yoga retreat/jungle oasis wanna be vibe but not really. If that makes sense. Beech lounges are old, some are broken, bathrooms could be cleaner, rooms used to be cool and fairly stylish but also a bit outdated for 2024. Breakfast in the restaurant was nice, however dinner - nothing special at all (if you try sea food or fish). Fish in fact was the worst I’ve tried in Sri Lanka. Also, everything is priced in USD dollars, therefore, food and drinks were overpriced.

Loved our beautiful apartment - absolutely stunning interiors and loved the fact that all the furniture is hand made and made with natural materials. You can really feel the essence of nature throughout the grounds. The beach is gorgeous and they have lots of sun loungers and beds to fully relax. The spa is fabulous and everyone in our group went twice as it was that good. The restaurant is lovely, food is fantastic and good value for money! The staff are attentive and overall, we had a great experience. Would 100% recommend and wish we had booked extra nights :) Thank you again to everyone at Lankavatara.
