I loved everything about Uga Jungle Beach Resort, essentially sustainable luxurious accommodation at its very best. Its beautiful wooden gate opened to a jungle paradise with every detail crafted to complement its beautiful location. Warm welcome from Mr Dhammika and the team. Delicious fresh juice…after the long drive down…yes please! Enjoyed the wonderful architecture like the suspended first floor front desk and the exquisitely crafted exposed beam chalets with huge beds and the cosiest beddings. My jungle room set up enabled me enjoy secluded relaxation or hear birds chirping and roaring ocean waves as needed. My room was well maintained so always felt as great in it as outside. Option of air conditioning and fan and having an additional rainfall shower were great treats to enjoy after outdoor activities. Spa treatments were lovely, perfectly set against the soothing sound of a mini waterfall. Having a private beach and bar meant enjoying the ocean and safe walks at any time. Exceptional food by Chef Prabatha was customised to my individual palate. Deliciousness delivered in every bite of local seafood curries to tailored healthy juices Offers different dining areas but the best is treetop dinner in a swing chair. Ms Gothami kicked service up a notch by showing how to rep Sri Lankan style in a Sare, while Jagath, Mandawa and Dananjaya spoilt me with everything I wanted at the bar at any time. As a solo female traveller, the hotel was amazing for getting me the best local guide, Pasan, who is a naturist. We went on three tours - temple, bike and mangroves - His passion and knowledge of Sri Lanka. rich history, unique flora and fauna made each tour a lifetime experience. Soaked in the history of rice paddies and most beautiful sunset cycling, marvelled at the cultural significance of temples, and enjoyed the most mindful boat ride ever. Pasan knew the best areas for local spices, gem watching and fishing.

That I couldn’t stay longer

This place a 5-star beach resort and therefore a stay in this accomodation is luxurious. We upgraded from Lagoon to Beach bungalow for a reasonable price. However, we were staying there in January which is off-season. Our bungalow was clean, fresh towels and linen was provided. We used both exterior and interior shower. Breakfast was very tasty and we had many different options ala carte. Dinner was also very good. They provide a variety of options for every taste. Staff were friendly, polite and not intrusive. Beach is very close to bungalow. It was a bit windy in January but the water was warm and it was possible to swim a bit.

Price is pretty high for Sri Lanka but we got big discount due to off-season stay.

The hotel is perfectly integrated into the nature, that gives us the feeling nature is respected and not much disturbed by our stay. The private access to the beach is appreciated. The staff is helpfull and friendly. The quality of food is good (compared to other hotels in the country). And finally, a very good cappucino and exceptional breakfast!!!

Only a few details for continuous improvment for even less impacts _Replace carton strews by metal strews _At the beach bar, do not provide plastic bottles, but glass bottles like in the room _When we dont ask, do not replace towels (we found our towels were changed every day) _We found the quality of food was uneven. Generally very good, but at some occasion, less tasty and with mistakes

This is a great place if a little overpriced for the rooms. The food is out of this world and the whole experience is very good. Service is generally fantastic although table service went a bit awry when management wasn't about. Make sure you do the seafood platter with the wine - a simply amazing experience. It has a real jungle feel with loads of nature about. Recommended

It's a little more remote than I expected, not a problem as you can get a cheap Tuk Tuk. Rooms we were in (Jungle View) was lovely but a little tired with a musty smell, could do with a bit of TLC. Maybe try and get a beach or lagoon view

The best part is you have the beach to yourself! Come here to relax as there is nothing around. There was only three other couples on the beach when we were there. No other hotels. Staff were friendly and attentive. Big rooms, comfy bed. Great aircon and you need it. Huge portions for breakfast. Excellent cocktails.

You are paying for the exclusivity of the beach, but it was worth it.

hotel was clean & very elegant. Amazing staff & food! The location is exceptional, white sandy beaches & very exclusive location.

Pigeon Island excursion was a good experience but a little overpriced for what was offered, however, a must do to see some amazing aquatic life including Black Tip Reef Sharks & Green Turtles.

Had been to the Hotel at an earlier trip and thus knew what was expecting us. The location in the jungle with the nearby beach is just unique: a peaceful retreat in the middle of nature. Architecture of both lobby-area and huts are such as to perfectly fit into the environment. Extremely professional, motivated, and helpful staff at all levels. Wonderful cooking with beautifully arranged and very tasty dishes. A clear recommendation in the Trincomalee-Nilaveli area.

amazing location, fantastic staff and great food. we loved the initiative for beach cleanup and did our small part to it. small hotel means possibility for very private vacationing

the individual villas are generally fantastic, generously spaced and well equipped, however they would require some upkeep and maintenance to stay in 100% top shape. our villas roofing was partly damaged, which let in some light and potentially smaller jungle dwellers. also the beach bar was closed, we’re both sure about the reasons, but it made food and drink orders from the beach a bit more complicated than necessary

Amazing location. Faiz and Piumi and bar staff were lovely. I have a special mention for Ponseka who looks after the beach. He is a lovely gentleman and I will not forget him- so kind and friendly.

It was very sad to see so much plastic and rubbish on the shoreline. Also on one day 3 dead turtles washed up on the beach.
