Clean room and facilities. Also has a kitchen where you can keep labelled food in the fridge and have supplies while you're staying there. Same as a laundry. Staff were helpful and the breakfast was good (basic continental). Would recommend it.
Was far out of the main part of town, but the upside is you get to have a nice walk in an amazing place each time and keep your steps up. My initial room was next to the bathrooms because that's where the single rooms are, and it gets noisy. But I asked to be moved to another room and luckily staff had a quieter room available. No biggie though.

The views from the hotel are fabulous as you are up a valley and surrounded on 3 sides by mountains. The shared bathrooms were clean, big, had places for hanging clothes and were always available. A robe is included and it has pockets, so easier when going to the bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Free coffee is available all day. Each building has a lounge, and a kitchen. There is also a lounge, bar, and restaurant in the main building. Overall, a great value and a great place to stay if you are on a budget and want to save some money.
The internet connection sometimes wasn't working in my building, so I had to go to the main building. It is about a 30 min walk to the supermarket and the center of the town, but the view is nice. Also, the airport bus stops at the hotel and any tours pick you up and drop you off at the hotel. There are 2 free shuttle busses from the center of town to the hotel late in the afternoon and early evening.

There may be no better place for people who are passionate about outdoor sports. It is located in Nybyen. Generally it is just next to the glacier Larsbreen, where many of the hiking tours start. But also within half an hour of walking distance (2-3km) you are in the town centre. The personal here is totally friendly and helpful, not to mention that they are 24x7 reachable. The rooms are clean. Honestly, I am always suspecious about shared toilets in hotels, but sofar I have seen they are held unsoiled and neat. It impresses me, although I booked a room with own toillet. The restaurant and bar of this hotel is also highly recommendable. They offer delicious meals and the personal obviously have a pretty good musical taste.

Good room with unusual interesting décor. Location is not in town, so it's quiet and gives the chance to feel the nature, history and atmosphere of island. Friendly staff, good breakfast. Bus from and to the airport. No problem to get to the tours. Tourist companies send the car to take you. Walk to the town about 20-30 minutes. Nice. Aria is safety, usually no white bears. We like it.
They take no cash. it's not good. I paid 50 USD more for transactions by my credit card. They say that in Svalbard nobody take cash, except supermarket. But it's absolutely not true. We paid cash in tourist information in town when we bought tours. We paid cash in all the shops. It's not pandemic now. Cash is the money of Norway. Svalbard is Norway. I can't understand why I can't use Norway money in Norway hotel! It was very inconvenient for me to pay by credit card.

Honestly, I had a reservation for accommodation at Coal Miner's Cabins, but they moved my reservation to Radisson Blu Polar Hotel, which turned out to be even better for me. I cannot rate Coal Miner's Cabins, but Radisson Blu Polar Hotel was top-notch, and I was pleased with absolutely everything. I had initially booked a stay at Coal Miner's Cabins, but due to unforeseen circumstances, my reservation was relocated to Radisson Blu Polar Hotel. This change turned out to be a delightful surprise. The Radisson Blu Polar Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way, making my stay in Svalbard an exceptional experience. The service at Radisson Blu Polar Hotel was outstanding. The staff were attentive, friendly, and always willing to assist with any request. Check-in was smooth, and I felt genuinely welcomed. The room I was allocated was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean. The attention to detail in the room's design and amenities was truly remarkable. I especially appreciated the beautiful view from my window, which added to the overall enjoyment of my stay. The hotel's dining options were also exceptional. I had the opportunity to savor delicious meals at their restaurant, and the variety of dishes on the menu catered to diverse tastes. The food was not only delectable but also beautifully presented. Furthermore, the location of Radisson Blu Polar Hotel was convenient, with easy access to city center. It made exploring the city hassle-free, and the hotel's concierge service was instrumental in providing valuable local insights and recommendations. Overall, my experience at Radisson Blu Polar Hotel was excellent, and I could not have been happier with the unexpected change in accommodation. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting [destination], as it offers a truly exceptional and enjoyable stay. Thank you to the staff for making my stay memorable.
Nothing, everything was perfect.

We liked everything. The location was great - further away from the town and a crowd (sometimes really a lot coming from the cruise ships!). The walk to the shop was fine and we felt safe (at least in summer and 24h sun season :D), 15-20 min. The room is small, but all you need. The beds and mattresses were especially comfortable! Shared bathrooms are clean, and we never had to wait. Breakfast was super delicious - great choice and sufficient. Loved to have a free tea and coffee 24/7. Our dinners we had mostly in this hotel too - can only recommend: extremely delicious foods. The most famous Coal Miners burgers - must try. Wonderful stay overall, will definitely come again!
The only one thing - the sockets in our room were located in not very usable place, but we managed.

This is a very nice place up the valley from town, a 20-30 minutes' pleasant walk, surrounded by the mountains and with frequent sightings of reindeer munching away. The breakfast is very nice, with many different options, including glutenfree. The nice young man who cleaned our comfortable en suite room in Annexe 1 was very friendly and helpful, apart from cleaning the room to perfection helping us carry our suitcases down the stairs. There is a useful little kitchen in the building.
Well, the weather ;-). No, joking, we had splendid weather although it was still rather chilly, but this is the high Arctic.

The staff was excellent! They gave us a bigger room because we were with a child, but they didn't charge for a room upgrade. Rooms are clean, hot in the rooms. The breakfast is very good! We checked out of the hostel at 5 am. All those who flew with us on this flight, the hostel staff made breakfast for us. Although according to the rules breakfast starts at 7 am. Thanks to the staff for the best service! I would also like to say that every evening at 18.00 and 18.30 a bus leaves from the Raddison Hotel to Coal Miners Cabins. This is very convenient, because in the evening when a person is tired, there is an opportunity to get to the hostel for free.
The curtains in the hostel are thick, but they don't completely cover the window. Therefore, there was always light in the room.

The staff was possibly the best part of the experience. I drank at the Coal Miners Bar and Grill almost everyday and I was met with an enthusiastic staff that really defined my visit to an extent. Some of the best people I met while I was in Svalbard.
It was a little far away, but it was also the cheapest option, so it ended up being well worth it in the end. Plus, a few extra steps never hurt anyone.

Breakfast amazing. It was a buffet. There was smoked salmon! There was also bread, cheese, ham, eggs, jam, yogurt, seeds, nuts, muesli, oats, apple and orange juice, fresh fruit, a lot of choice! They also took into account my lactose intolerance, there was lactose free yogurt and milk, and I also saw gluten free bread. The rooms were clean, and the shared bathrooms too! We also used the shared kitchenette so that we didn’t have to go out for dinner every night and saved money! Don’t worry about getting there from the airport, there is a shuttle that goes for every flight. Also, every activity you will sign up for will come pick you up!
