What an amazing hotel! We felt very comfortable throughout our stay. All rooms are heated and very cozy. The location is also perfect, close to everything. The rooms are very clean and cozy too. The bathroom is amazing with heated floors! We really liked it! Ideal for leaving wet clothes and having them dry the next morning. The view from the room is also very beautiful. The breakfast is delicious with a variety of hot and cold options. Many thanks to the entire staff, especially the restaurant staff, for always being kind and smiling. This hotel is definitely an excellent choice if you are going to Svalbard.

I liked everything

Good location at the top of the shopping street and across from the visit svalbard tourist information office. It's also a stop for the airport bus.

Our room was facing the shopping street and the TV screen from the Visit Svalbard office was very bright, makes it difficult to look at the night sky when you're trying to Northern Light spotting. Would have preferred to have a kettle for water in the room, the "tea"option from the machine comes out with a trace of coffee flavour, which I don't like. Luckily could go downstairs and fill my thermos with hot water.

I was there with my brother and our room was comfortable, with a nice view over a nearby glacier. The location is super convenient: just a few metres outside of the hotel you have the grocery shop, several restaurants and other shops. Breakfast was good although not amazing (could have better choice). You get wool slippers in your room as well as bathrobes and a little complimentary chocolate polar bear. :) The hotel has a really nice lounge area with a fireplace and an interesting design. The staff was helpful too. Overall we had a very good experience there!

Our stay at Polfareren exceeded our expectations. The hotel was super clean and the staff very friendly. The room was really big and the bathroom had a heated floor. It, was located outside of the main compartment, but of course we knew it and we didn't have any issues. We visited the archipelago in late April so keep in mind the sun never sets. The room is not completely dark so I recommend the use of sleeping masks. We personally liked it a lot that we got that light cause we experienced the polar night 100%. The breakfast was good and tasty. When we visit Svalbard again we know where to stay. Also an advice to all travelers, if you go to Svalbard do the Trollsteinen hike, It's by far the best activity we have had 😁.

AMAZING VIEW!!! :D I'm so happy I stayed here - it was magic to watch the mountains changing colours from my room window! I even saw a reindeer outside my window! Super thick duvets and huge pillows to lounge on; very thoughtful. Big room, very comfortable. Nice decor. Nice staff. Very clean. Very central location - easy short walk to everything, important when it's cold outside and you want to find food. Pretty quiet.

Bit of hassle to dress up and put boots on/off to go to reception and breakfast in another building, but totally worth it for the view. Shower ran hot and cold and toilet didn't flush well. Breakfast was generally fine but one day quiche and waffles were served cold even at 7am. Sometimes I could hear the people next door so perhaps not quiet if the hotel is full. No gym/sauna/jacuzzi.

Centrally located, convenient to just about everything. Scandinavian decor. Property was very clean, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was great. I was assigned a room in the annex across the small street from the main building, so had to go outside to main building for breakfast. But it was no problem.

I had a bunk bed. The bottom mattress was a bit old (or thin), such that I could feel the springs. Luckily because it was a bunk bed, there were 2 futons and I was able to use one for extra cushioning.

Very conveniently located on the main street of Longyearbyen. Also, the airport bus as well as tour guides stop right in front. We loved to take our shoes off and walk just on socks or in slippers throughout ought the whole hotel. It gave us a homey feeling. In addition, our room was really cozy. We had a great view, it was very quiet and the beds were comfortable. Everything was clean and we had most of the amenities we needed. We enjoyed the bathtub after a long day outdoors. What was also practical is that you needed a code to enter your room instead of a key card which could possibly get lost in this fragile environment of Svalbard. The lobby area is welcoming as one could sit next to the fireplace and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. Especially the hostess at breakfast during our stay welcomed us heartily and was attentive and rounded our feeling to be at home. Thank you so much! The breakfast itself had everything we needed for a great start to the day. Overall, we highly recommend Polfareren and would love to come back again.

If we needed to be picky, then a kettle on the room would be a great addition but it’s not that necessary as you could use the one in the lobby at any time.

The location is perfect. The airport shuttle bus stops right in front of this hotel, and also most of the guided tours often try to pick up the participants in front of this hotel. The biggest supermarket and big winter clothing shops are also within the range of 2-3 minutes walk. The hotel staff members are all friendly and kindly reacting everything we request on the spot. The bathroom area has a very good floor heating, which helps a lot especially after coming back from long-time outdoor activities. The breakfast provides a wide variety of dishes.

My room is located in another building separated from the main building. This is right in front of the main building, but still requires you once to go out and get in the main building to get the breakfast. The footstep from the upstairs is heard sometimes, which is not a big issue as a facility quality but sometimes prevent my sleep.

Good location right in town - walking distance to all shops and restaurants. About a mile to the harbor and a bit more to the airport. All day coffee/tea service in lobby. Good included breakfast. Standard room not big but adequate with double blackout blinds which is necessary in summer and the sun doesn't set.

There could have been a free hotel shuttle for airport - 10 Euro/pp for a 4 minute ride on the bus is unreasonable.

Breakfast was excellent and all is well organized. Staff were helpful. The beds are comfortable. Perfect location.

Sound insulation. I could hear tv sounds and clear voices coming from the other rooms and from the street (one night people sat outside next to a sort of campfire until late, which was naturally disruptive given the volume of the conversations). The clothing logistics are rather inconvenient if you are placed in the secondary building as you need to go to the main building for breakfast every day or anytime you need to enquire about something in the reception. Granted this is a minor inconvenience as it is only for the winter, but perhaps people with longer stays could be prioritized to stay in the main building during the winter season.
